MR-New

Casee: I loved June. It’s the beginning of summer (my favorite season), school is out, and for some reason I read more. This is my best reading month in years. Years. Now, compared to most of you, this isn’t very many. Heck, compared to what I used to read this is pretty pathetic. It sure does make me smile today though.

Shadowed by Rebecca Zanetti | 4.5 out of 5

I can’t choose a favorite out of all the amazing books I read. There is just no way.

Holly: June was a great reading month for me. I read the entire Kate Daniels series in preparation for the final book in August, which really boosted my numbers (I count short stories and novellas). I read 30 books. I set a goal to reread less each month this year and so far I’ve done pretty well, with the exception of this month. I blame Ilona Andrews.

My favorite non-reread of the month was probably Hot Single Dad by Claire Kingsley. There were some issues, but overall it was a cute read. My least favorite was Shadow’s Edge by J.T. Geissinger. I kept anticipating some major event to happen, and it never came to be. I enjoyed book 2 quite a bit more.

Rowena: June was a strong reading month for me and I was super excited about everything that I read. Mostly, I was excited about how much I read. It’s the first time all year that I was able to read more than 12 books and that makes me all kinds of happy.

Here’s what I read in June:

Burn for You (Slow Burn #1) by J.T. Greissinger | 4 out of 5
I Flipping Love You (Shacking Up #3) by Helena Hunting | 4 out of 5
I Think I Love You (Oxford #5) by Lauren Layne | 4.5 out of 5
The One You Can’t Forget (The Ones that Got Away #2) by Roni Loren | 4 out of 5
Always Never Yours by Emily Wibberley | 3.25 out of 5
Hot Single Dad (Book Boyfriend #3) by Claire Kingsley | 4 out of 5
Her Best Friend (Book Boyfriend #3.5) by Claire Kingsley | 4 out of 5
The Kiss Quotient (The Kiss Quotient #1) by Helen Hoang | 5 out of 5
Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy #1) by Ilona Andrews (re-read) | 5 out of 5
Ocean Light (Psy-Changeling Trinity #2) by Nalini Singh | 4 out of 5
More than Words by Mia Sheridan | DNF
Wicked and the Wallflower (Bareknuckle Bastards #1) by Sarah MacLean | 4.25 out of 5
One Small Thing by Erin Watt | 4.25 out of 5
The Fragile Ordinary by Samantha Young | 4.25 out of 5
Hard Sell (21 Wall Street #2) by Lauren Layne | 4.75 out of 5
The Accidentals by Sarina Bowen | 4.25 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang because it was everything that I wanted and everything that I hoped it would be. Hoang did not disappoint and I’m super anxious for the next book in the series. Special shout out to Lauren Layne too who delivered a bunch of goodness that I devoured in June. I adored both I Think I Love You and Hard Sell. Such great stories.

My least favorite read of the month was my lone DNF. I just couldn’t continue, it was slow, I didn’t connect with the heroine so I gave up. That book was More than Words by Mia Sheridan.

  1. Rita Wray

My favorite of the month was Lighthouse Beach by Shelley Noble and my least favorite was The Lemonade Year by Amy Willoughby-Burle.

  2. Kareni

It looks like there was lots of re-reading going on; sometimes an old favorite is just what I want to read.

Some new favorites this month: the Australian set male/male historical romance By The Currawong’s Call by Welton B. Marsland, Lucy Parker’s contemporary romance Making Up (London Celebrities), and The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison.

Least favorite was likely Kindred by Octavia Butler. It’s a depressing read.

  3. Kim

I didn’t have a favorite this month. I read The First Time at Firelight Falls & was a bit disappointed.

  4. CelineB

My favorite read of the month was Hard Sell by Lauren Layne and my least favorite was The Ruby in the Smoke by Phillip Pullman which was just okay.

  5. Nikki

I had to laugh when I read Kim’s response. 🙂 I loved The First Time at Firelight Falls, which was my favorite this month. Isn’t that a hoot! I didn’t have any that I didn’t like this month.–a ton of rereads, and several others that were really good. Shelter in Place by NR, Alisha Rai’s trilogy, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and Ready to Run were all great!

  6. LSUReader

My favorite June read was The Prince, by Katharine Ashe. I enjoyed all the books I read, but I’d say The Moscow Deception by Karen Robards was my least favorite. Thanks for the giveaway.

I did a reread of Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunters series and I still love it 🙂 But for new releases, I loved Captivated by Tessa Bailey and Eve Dangerfield and Rainy Day Friends by Jill Shalvis. Both were great stories focusing on different aspects of relationships that we take for granted. Lease fav read was Prey By Cari Silverwood. I got sucked into the kindle lending library and since it was free, decided to give it a chance. That was a trainwreck. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Glenda

I honestly can’t remember what I read at the beginning of the month – it was one of those months… I did finally read Madeline Hunter’s Wicked trilogy, Grace Burrowes’ My Own True Duchess – which I loved, and I’m about halfway through Sarah MacLean’s Wicked and the Wallflower the first Bareknuckle Bastard book – also loving it! No horrible reads this month (unless I totally blocked it)

  9. bn100

worst book- Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean; didn’t like the characters, plot, or writing
    Americans in Paris was interesting

  10. Looks like you all had a wonderful month of reading in June.

Casee…I ADORE Rebecca Zanetti, she writes her vampires so well and I honestly couldn’t put those books down. I did enjoy Ocean’s Light, but the racism was a bit of a downer and probably my least favorite of Singh books. But still a fun one with the Black Sea changelings.

Holly-My heart is breaking that Curran and Kate’s story is almost over, they are one of my favorite pairings. Hope you have enjoyed re-reading these books. The only ones I haven’t read are Curran’s POV, which I really need to since he is one of my favorite heroes to read EVER.

Rowena-Happy June. Hope you have enjoyed the warm California weather this summer. I really had a blast with Burn For You as well and I can’t wait to read book 2. My favorite read of June would have to be The Last King by Katee Robert

  11. Ada

My favorite of the month was Avery Flynn’s The Charmer, it was such a laugh out loud funny read, very enjoyable, love the hero and heroine together! Least favorite was Samantha Chase’s Love Walks In, it was just an ok read as I found the heroine really annoying with the decisions she made!
