My favorite read of the month (not counting rereads) was Getting Real by Emma Chase. The whole series is great, but I especially loved this book. My least favorite was Red by J.E. Taylor. The writing was choppy and much of the story and actions of the characters didn’t make sense.

I read 34 books in October. Several of them were so good, they made my favorite reads of the year list. Interestingly, all of them are m/m romances with lots of angst & heartache: WRATH by Ella James; THE IMPOSSIBLE BOY & THE LOST BOY by Anna Martin; and OF SUNLIGHT AND STARDUST by Riley Hart & Christina Lee. (That last one was a beautifully-written, dual-timeline story, but was utterly heartbreaking in places.)
My least favorite read of the month was THE BRATVA’S HEIR by Jane Henry & Sophie Lark. I thought it would be right up my alley: I love a good dark mafia/mob romance and the set-up (prison therapist and her client, an inmate who is also a member of the Russian mob) was all kinds of transgressive catnip; but the story was blah and the heroine was utterly passive. Heroines in dark romances need to be strong and tough or the dynamic between h&h just turns into bullying. There was so much potential in THE BRATVA’S HEIR, but none of it was realized.
I’m almost finished doing a re-read of the Bridgerton series. I’m on the final book and I’ve enjoyed the series. I was a bit disappointed in The Duchess Hunt by Lorraine Heath. The premise was a good one, but it was missing something. The hero’s secret was unusual, but anticlimcatic.

One of my favorite October reads was Honeytrap by Aster Glenn Gray; it’s a male/male cold war era romance.
Least favorite would have been all the books I started and put aside!
