It’s a new month so we’re back with a list of our Monthly Reads to share with each of you. This is where you’ll see what each of us has read and what our favorite books and our least favorite books of the month are. Check it out.

For the first time in the history of Book Binge, I read more books than Holly. I read 13 books last month.

Honor’s Splendour (reread)(audio) by Julie Garwood | 5 out of 5
Saving Grace (reread)(audio) by Julie Garwood | 5 out of 5
Darkest Heart (Dominion #1) by Juliette Cross | 4 out of 5
Getting Real (Getting Some #1)(audio) by Emma Chase | 4 out of 5
Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs #1) by Maya Banks | 4.5 out of 5
Never Ever (Perdition MC #1) by Isabel Wroth | 2.5 out of 5
Emerald Blaze (Hidden Legacy #5)(audio) by Ilona Andrews | 4.25 out of 5
Protecting You (Bailey Brothers #1) by Claire Kingsley | 3.5 out of 5
Fighting for Us (Bailey Brothers #2) by Claire Kingsley | 4 out of 5
Unraveling Him (Bailey Brothers #3) by Claire Kingsley | 4.5 out of 5
Rushing In (Bailey Brothers #4) by Claire Kingsley | 4.25 out of 5
After the Night (reread) by Linda Howard | 3 out of 5
Chasing Her Fire (Bailey Brothers #5) by Claire Kingsley | 4.5 out of 5

I loved all the books I read in January except one. Never Ever by Isabel Wroth was not my cuppa. The editing was atrocious and kept pulling me out of the story. It was maddening. The book that most surprised me was After the Night by Linda Howard. Honestly, how could I ever have loved that book? Gray is a total ass. A loveable ass, but an ass just the same.

Holly

I only managed to read 7 books in January. Things have been crazy and I haven’t had a lot of time. Fingers crossed that February is a better reading month for me.

A Farewell to Charms (Mystic Bayou #6) by Molly Harper (audio) | 2 out of 5
Bombshell (Hell’s Belles #1) by Sarah MacLean (audio/read) | 3.5 out of 5
Magic Forged (Hall of Blood and Mercy #1) by K.M. Shea (audio/read) | 3.5 out of 5
Magic Redeemed (Hall of Blood and Mercy #2) by K.M. Shea (audio/read) | 3.5 out of 5
Magic Unleashed (Hall of Blood and Mercy #3) by K.M. Shea (audio/read) | 3.75 out of 5
Hunted (Pack of Dawn and Destiny #1) by K.M. Shea | 3.75 out of 5
United (Pack of Dawn and Destiny #1) by K.M. Shea | 3.75 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was Magic Unleashed by K.M. Shea. My least favorite was A Farewell to Charms by Molly Harper. I really wanted more from that story.

Some of my favorites in January were Miss Percy’s Pocket Guide (to the Care and Feeding of British Dragons) by Quenby Olson along with my rereads by SK Dunstall, Andrea Höst, and Michelle Diener.

Least favorites I tend to abandon.

  2. Kim

I finished Mary Balogh’s latest book, Someone Perfect. It was good except for the story behind the hero’s banishment. There was no reason or matter of honor that makes up for forcing the hero to leave his home.

I read 17 books in January. My favorite was HITTING THE WALL by Cate C. Wells, an incredibly good book about class differences with a single mother returning to the town from where she—as a pregnant teenager—was run out by the wealthy family of her father’s child, unbeknownst to him. The hero has to adjust all his perceptions about his family if he is to have a chance with the heroine and their child. Highly recommended.

My favorite book last month was The King of Faerie by AJ Lancaster, a fitting conclusion to the author’s wonderful Stariel fantasy series. In romance my favorite was an ARC of Late Bloomer by Meg Benjamin. This is a continuation of the author’s Konigsburg, TX series that she wrote for Samhain years ago and I’m happy she’s returned to it. Least favorite was Josh and Gemma Have a Baby by Sarah Ready.

  5. Anita H.

The Viscount and The Vixen by Lorraine Heath was a really good read, this marriage of convenience story with a twist had me invested from the first page. Always My Girl by Samantha Chase was my least favorite, while I enjoyed visiting with the Shaughnessy family, the hero really annoyed me with his antics.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie was interesting
worst book and cover: Scattered Legacy: Murder in Southern Italy by Marlene Bell
