1. Archangel’s Enigma by Nalini Singh.

Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.

Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it’s too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows…and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare…

Holly: Naasir!! Y’all, I LOVED this book. Naasir was everything I wanted him to be and Andromeda was perfect for him. So.Much.Love.

4. Spiral of Need by Suzanne Wright.

Ally Marshall isn’t just a wolf shifter — she’s a Seer.

But a girl doesn’t exactly need special powers to know that Derren Hudson despises her entire kind. Disdain practically rolls off the Beta of the Mercury Pack . . . disdain mixed with a healthy dose of desire. And no matter how much the ruggedly handsome male appeals to her, this is one call of the wild she’s determined to ignore.

Forced into acting as her protector, he finds himself intensely and passionately drawn to the woman who incites his primal instinct to claim.

Can he put his distrust aside, or will he force himself to turn his back on the one woman who makes his inner beast howl?

Holly: I’ve read some of Wright’s books in the past and enjoyed them. This is the start of a new series and I’m pretty excited for it.

5. Sacked by Jen Frederick.

What he wants he gets…

Knox Masters is a quarterback’s worst nightmare. Warrior. Champion. And…virgin. Knox knows what he wants–and he gets it. All American Football player? Check. NFL pros scouting him? Check. Now, he’s set his sight on two things. The national title. And Ellie Campbell. Sure, she’s the sister of his fellow teammate, but that’s not going to stop him. Especially not when he’s convinced Ellie is the one.

…but he’s never met her before.

But Ellie isn’t as sure. She’s trying to start a new life and she’s not interested in a relationship…with anyone. Beside it’s not just her cardinal rule of never dating her brother’s teammates that keeps her away, but Ellie has a dark secret that would jeopardize everything Knox is pursuing.

Knox has no intention of losing. Ellie has no intention of giving in.

Holly: Football and a hero who knows the heroine is “the one” immediately? Sign me up.

Rowena: This was a good one. One of my favorite Jen Frederick books to date. I can’t WAIT for more. I’ve got my fingers crossed that this becomes a series.

6. The Stolen MacKenzie Bride by Jennifer Ashley.

When fighting breaks out between the Highlanders and the King’s army, their plans to elope are thwarted, and it will take all of Malcolm’s daring as a Scottish warrior to survive the battle and steal a wife out from under the noses of the English.

Holly: This is a prequel of sorts to the Mackenzie series. It features the ancestor of the family we already know and love, and tells the tale of “Old Malcolm”. I really enjoyed it.

Rowena: I enjoyed one of the previous books in this series so when I saw this one come up for review, I wanted to read it. I remember the Janiks so I was sold once I saw the last name.

14. Dirty Talk (Mechanics of Love #2) by Megan Erickson.

When the one you shouldn’t want is the one you can’t resist…

Brent Payton works hard, plays hard, and has earned his ladies’ man reputation. But he’s more than just a good time, even though no one seems to see it. Until a gorgeous brunette with knockout curves and big, thoughtful eyes walks into his family’s garage and makes Brent want more.

Rowena: This sounds like a good series and this book in particular caught my eye so I’m in. Sexy machanics falling in love? Yup.

15. Finding Perfect by Kendra C. Highley.

How far will you go for perfection?

For “Perfect Paige” Westfield, today is “D” Day. As in, she just got one on her calculus test. With her dreams of Stanford, her reputation, and her parents’ expectations at stake, Paige needs to find a way to save face before everything she’s worked for goes up in flames.

Ben Franklin (yes, he’s related) is from the wrong side of town, with the wrong clothes and the wrong kind of life. He also knows an opportunity when he sees one, and he’ll be happy to tutor Paige—if she makes him into the kind of guy her best friend, the hottest girl in school, will date.

It’s the perfect arrangement. And Paige is determined not even the inconvenient—and utterly imperfect—attraction simmering between her and Ben will ruin it…

Rowena: The blurb for this book is what got me. Perfect Paige gets a D and the boy from the wrong side of town wants her to turn him into the boy her best friend would want? I’m in.

16. Forever Your Earl (Wicked Quills of London #1) by Eva Leigh.

Eva Leigh’s irresistible new series introduces the Wicked Quills of London: a group of bold, brilliant female writers whose spirited allure is beyond seductive…

Eleanor Hawke loves a good scandal. And readers of her successful gossip rag live for the exploits of her favorite subject: Daniel Balfour, the notorious Earl of Ashford. So when the earl himself marches into her office and invites her to experience his illicit pursuits firsthand, Eleanor is stunned. Gambling hells, phaeton races, masquerades . . . What more could a scandal writer want than a secret look into the life of this devilishly handsome rake?

Daniel has secrets, and if The Hawk’s Eye gets wind of them, a man’s life could be at stake. And what better way to distract a gossip than by feeding her the scandal she desperately craves? But Daniel never expected the sharp mind and biting wit of the beautiful writer, and their desire for each other threatens even his best-laid plans.

But when Eleanor learns the truth of his deception, Daniel will do anything to prove a romance between a commoner and an earl could really last forever.

Rowena: Tessa Dare gave this book a good review quote and I love her stuff so I was interested in checking this one out. It sounds like a good time so I’m definitely going to check it out.

Holly: I didn’t realize until recently that Eva Leigh = Zoe Archer. I really enjoyed Archer’s books and I’m looking forward to this new historical rom series. Especially since I’m finally reading historicals again. YAY!

the end game
17. The End Game by Kate McCarthy.

“Professional athletes are pillars of their respective communities. They are heroes in the eyes of boys and girls and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that positively represents their community.”

The public loves a good scandal. Seeing someone fall from the pinnacle of success makes a great headline. No one knows that better than I do. What started out as a promising career in college football, spiraled into scandal and shame.

But being a hero is easier said then done. Especially when there are those who expected to see the great Brody Madden fail. I craved nothing except being the best—willing to do anything to prove them wrong. But I went too far, and I tried too hard, and it broke me.

“At the time of going to print, Jordan Elliott was unavailable for comment.”

I met Brody Madden in my senior year of college. An Australian native on an international scholarship, I was the female soccer sensation with stars in her eyes and no room for a hotshot wide receiver with a chip on his shoulder.

But a heart bursting with ambition and a driving fire to succeed isn’t made of stone. I became his strength, his obsession, and the greatest love of his life. Only I wasn’t there when he needed me most.

This is a story about love and a game that takes everything. Where the path to glory is paved with sacrifice. Where pressure makes you, or breaks you, and triumph is born in the ashes of failure. Where two people’s end game will change everything.

Rowena: Ever since the USA Women’s National Soccer Team won this year’s world cup, I’ve been wanting to read a romance novel with a woman athlete as the heroine. This seems to fit the bill. It sounds like a great story as well. Bad boy football star falls for the golden girl soccer athlete? Yep, I’m in.

There you have it. The books that Holly and I are looking forward to this month. Are there any books that didn’t make it onto our list that should be on there? Let us know. You know we’re always up for a good recommendation.

What books are you looking forward to this month?

  1. Kareni

I’m looking forward to the new books by those Ashleys (Kristen and Jennifer). I’m also looking forward to Mary Balogh’s Only a Kiss, Primal Force by D. D. Ayres, Midnight Fire by Lisa Marie Rice, Fatal Frenzy by Marie Force, and a few more.

  2. Jen

I am seriously tempted by Leigh’s book only because her books as Zoe Archer are some of my favorites in all of romance…but don’t know if I can get over my historical slump quite yet. I’m super excited about Laura Griffin’s new one though. It’s burning a hole in my kindle. 🙂
