Judith‘s review of Soul Keeper by Natalie Dae

Carrie Marsh anxiously awaits her online lover of two years, pacing the station in her stylish red coat with nothing but luxurious black lingerie underneath and stilettos on her feet. Will Rob Edwards really be on the train from Scotland? still exist in person? Can she even stave off the first anticipation-induced orgasm before he arrives? Excitement spirals through her, for Carrie has planned a night to remember.

Rob is shy and Carrie intends to show him how to unleash his sexy side during a series of sexual encounters. But once he arrives, she can’t wait until they get to the hotel, let alone a bed. No. They hardly make it to the first tree, where anyone could spot their antics. One unforgettable evening of passion leads two virtual lovers to a lifetime as each other’s soul keeper.

This is a cute short story that will certainly go well with a lunch time sandwich and cookies. It is, in the fullest sense of the word, a sexy romp that brings two internet lovers together in person. It is very intense and the author has very successfully given the reader a taste of the strong feelings and banked passions of two people who can’t wait to get their hands on each other.

But I have to tell you: I have ridden those Northern England trains in the winter, and have traveled those train routes from Scotland, and for Carrie to be standing on a train platform in her underwear, stilettos and a coat, just seems to be a bit far fetched. Maybe she had her love to keep her warm, but I know that North Sea wind that whips through those trains stations isn’t a warm summer breeze and can whip your skin off. These two must have really been wound tight to stop off at the nearest tree. Oh well . . . real life it may not be, but it certainly is entertaining reading.

Both these people are just your average Joe and Jane who are looking for someone to trust who can love and cherish them. I’m not so sure that such a relationship can really be found very often on the internet, at least it is certainly iffy, but Carrie and Rob have found each other and they’re off on their very private adventure.

This is a very simple story with mostly accounts of their sexual weekend together. But it is a fun read and there are aspects of the story that are very gentle, with evidence that both these characters are kind and genuine people, not out to hurt the other, and who want to build a life together. While it is very erotic, it is purely and simply a love story. A romance fan will find this to be a very nice, short read.

I give this short story a 3.75 out of 5.
