Last year Kris Kennedy‘s debut release, The Conqueror, was one of my favorite reads. I even listed Kris as one of my favorite authors of the year. I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of her second medieval, The Irish Warrior.
As his men are slaughtered around him, legendary Irish warrior Finian O’Melaghlin is held captive by the despised English Lord Rardove. Struggling to break free, Finian finds aid from an unlikely source: the beautiful Senna de Valery, who is also trying to escape Rardove’s bloodthirsty grasp. Risking both their lives, Senna releases Finian from his shackles so they can both flee, but their plight has just begun…
Seeking safe refuge, Finian and Senna have only each other to depend on for survival. Neither can deny their immediate attraction, but indulging their desires will put them both in grave danger. Finian vows to protect the woman who saved his life, but he soon learns she is a pawn in a much larger battle. For Senna has an unbreakable link to a priceless treasure many centuries old. It is the stuff from which dreams are made and for which men will kill – and not even Finian may be strong enough to save her.
Y’all, this book is set in Ireland. The hero is Irish. Yeah, that’s what I said, too. It was so awesome finding a book set in a different time period and country than what’s normally on bookstore shelves. As impressed as I was with The Conqueror, I was afraid The Irish Warrior wouldn’t stand up..but it did. The setting and characterizations were both richly drawn. I adored it.
Kris was kind enough to offer an ARC for us to giveaway.
Leave a comment on this post before 11:59 p.m., Saturday, May 1st, telling us if you’ve read Kris’s debut, The Conqueror, and why or why not, and why you want to read Irish, and you’ll be entered to win the ARC. I’ll mail your prize Monday, May 3rd and you should have the book almost a month before the release date.
Trying to decide if you want to read it? Go check out an excerpt! (I love this part!)
The Irish Warrior will be available from Zebra on June 1, 2010. You can pre-order it here.
PS..The Conqueror is only $3.99 at Amazon!
ETA: If you don’t win the ARC but you still want a copy of Irish, you can pre-order it from The Book Depository for $5.24, with free world-wide shipping!
PPS..sorry, I kind of got a little carried away with the exclamation points there…heh
Kris Kennedy is a new-to-me author. I have not read The Conqueror ~yet~, but I did just order it from Amazon. 🙂 I would love to read The Irish Warrior because the excerpt you linked to made me want to read more! Thanks for the opportunity to win it and read it before it is released.

Kris Kennedy is a new-to-me author as well. I LOVE historical romances set in Ireland, so I must read her upcoming new release. In fact, I’m participating in an “Irish” reading challenge, so I can add that one to my list!

I have read The Conqueror and enjoyed it. I would totally be up for something set in Ireland. You are right, it is not an overly common setting.
I haven’t heard of either of these titles, though I have a big weakness for Irish heroes.
And, btw, I just checked out B & N, and The Conqueror ebook is avail for $2.40!
I haven’t read The Conquerer yet. Kris is a new-to-me author so I hadn’t heard of either of these books. You’ve made them sound so good that they’re both on my TBR list now. I’d love to win this one. Thanks

I just bought The Conquerer after Bev at The Season told me how much she loved the hero of The Irish Warrior. I can’t wait to read both books!!
I had not heard of this book or author until reading this post, and I didn’t use to like medievals until reading and loving Carrie Lofty’s What a Scoundrel Wants and Patricia Ryan’s The Sun and the Moon. Now I’m on the look-out for more good medievals, and this one sounds interesting. I’ll be checking out The Conqueror as well.
I have not read The Conqueror. The Irish Warrior sounds good. I would love to read this book because there is an Irish hero.
The Conqueror and Kris are both new to me. The Irish Warrior excerpt is great, so now I’m going to seek out excerpts from her first book. Thanks for the tip.
I just ordered The Conqueror from Amazon (thanks for the heads up!). It’s now on my Kindle. The Irish Warrior sounds fantastic. Please throw my name in for the giveaway!
I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the first book in this series but I have a feeling that that’s soon to change…the series is going on my buylist so I’m very keen on getting my hands on the next one in the series.

Kris is fabulous, and The Conqueror is at the top of my keeper shelf. I’ve anxiously been awaiting The Irish Warrior, because yeah–Irish. Need I say more?
Hooray! Keep writing, Kris!
Set in Ireland. ‘Enuff said. Thanks!
Have I read The Conqueror? You bet! I love medievals, for one thing, and it had good reviews. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to The Irish Warrior, too. Have heard a great deal of good things about it.
I’ve read the Conqueror, loved the book very much and I’ve been waiting for the release of her next book! Her writing is just wonderful, and this medieval sounds as great as the previous. And I agree with several others, not enough Irish books around.

I have not read The Conqueror, but I do have it! So I’ll definitely get to reading it!
Sounds great! I thoroughly enjoyed The Conqueror and have been looking forward to Kris’s next book. I love seeing stories set in Ireland.
I LOVED The Conqueror. The medieval era is my absolute favorite, and Kris did a great job with it. I’ve only read one book before with a medieval Irishman, and it was a wonderful setting for a romance novel.
Please enter me. The book sounds awesome, plus I love the names Finian and Senna.
I haven’t had a chance to read Kris’s debut, The Conqueror, yet because I haven’t ran across it yet. I’m going to be correcting that oversight very soon. I want to read The IrishWarror because it sounds like a wonderful story and I’ve always loved historicals set in Ireland.
Great offer and count me in! I was struck by your comments about the second book holding up to the quality of the first one. Really, really good writers don’t seem to have a problem with that. I think the map out the entire series, and then write stories that may be connected in some way, but are so good they can stand alone on their own merits. This author seems to have found the “secret.” Thanks for sharing and making this book available. Will probably add it to my library.
I haven’t read The Conqueror, but now I going to. I’m going to the book store tommorrow and I’ll add it to my list. As for the Irish Warrior, well you had me at the setting in Ireland and the hero is Irish. My kind of read!!!
i hav enot read anything by kris kennedy. i LOVE ireland though and would love to read a historical set there!

Sorry to say I haven’t had the chance to read The Conqueror yet, just learned of Ms. Kennedy, but thx for the Amazon tip, will order asap.
I am on a Celtic kick, trying to read anything & everything Irish, so The Irish Warrior seems fitting.
I love the story lines for Kris Kennedy’s books! It’s quite exciting for a hungry reader to discover a new author of delicious historical fiction! Kris has also been blessed by the “Cover Gods”. The Conqueror has been on my wish list since the first time I saw the cover–and I voted for that cover for every contest in which it was entered : ) I can dance a fine Irish jig, and my feet would be flying if I won a copy of “The Irish Warrior” : )
