If he could really see the future . . .
Logan Sinclair is nothing but a fraud. Or at least that’s what Inspector Andie Darling, undercover on the streets of San Francisco, is determined to prove. Sure, the sexy Scotsman may say he’s a clairvoyant, but Andie’s never believed in second sight—or love at first sight. So why does his sweet talk turn her into a lovestruck fool? He’d know that Andie Darling always gets her man.Getting the goods on the elusive con man would get Andie out of boring Vice and into Homicide, yet all she can think about is getting into Logan’s arms. But juggling her job and her heart leaves her with little time to protect herself from a crazed killer hot on her heels. Logan would love to help Andie—and get closer to her—but charm might not be enough to save them now.
Ugh, another book that I read all out of order, this being the third book in this series (The Darling Detective Trilogy) but it was a really fast read and I didn’t feel at all lost while reading this book so Ms. Stillings did a great job of making this a stand alone novel even though it is.
This book is Logan Sinclair and Andie Darling’s story. Andie is a detective for the SFPD and she’s trying to build a case against Logan Sinclair. She’s trying to catch him on con charges and when murder gets thrown into it, her boss wants her to nail this guy pronto. There’s all sorts of things going on in here and the things that I enjoyed the most was getting to know both of the main characters because there’s an air of mystery surrounding the both of them. I mean, after reading the book, I knew that I really like both Andie and Logan but I didn’t feel as if I knew them all that well. It’s not a bad thing or anything but it would have been nice to get to know them so that we can all be ficticious friends and live happily ever after.
Well, you know what I mean.
Anyway, the story is pretty fast paced and I enjoyed reading it. There must be something in the air because this is the second book where the hero was the one with the psychic ability. I’ve always thought of women as being the psychic but in this book, it’s Logan that can talk to ghosts and all that other voodoo stuff. Logan has a sexy Scots accent that melted my insides. He’s one of those sexy, charming heroes that is easy to love and I really enjoyed reading about him. I enjoyed the way that he was with Andie and I enjoyed just, him. He’s one of those memorable heroes that I always enjoy so that was a good thing about this book.
Andie was a great heroine too. She wanted to nail Logan real bad so that she could get the hell out of Vice and move right into Homicide. The way she was in the beginning with Logan made me grin because I knew that she was going to change her tune as the book wore on and I was really going to enjoy watching her fall for him. She didn’t let me down, she was a very strong heroine and one who cared deeply about those she cared about. I really enjoyed seeing her character grow to love Logan and she was just a great character all around.
The story itself was easy to follow and it kept you turning the pages up until the very end. I think that Marianne Stillings did a great job of making you connect with the characters and she did a great job of just hooking me into the story. I will definitely be reading more from this author and I need to find the other books and read those, I want to read more about Nate and Ethan, especially Nate. I really want to read his story. What I liked most about this book is the way in which Marianne Stillings told her story, her word choice flowed so well together that I didn’t fall out of the story at all. I really enjoyed that.
I enjoyed it so much that I want more. So yeah, go get it and read it..but start at the beginning, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the entire series, I’m anxious to.
