End of 2010 Survey, My Turn!

Posted December 9, 2010 by Rowena in Features | 5 Comments

Jamie over at The Perpetual Page Turner has put together an End of the year bookish survey that I’ve been itching to participate in and I finally have a chance to sit and gather my thoughts on each of the questions so I’m posting this sucker. Check out my answers:

1. Best book of 2010? It’s a tie between Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and Graceling by Kristin Cashore.
2. Worst book of 2010? Hands down, Two’s Company by Jill Mansell.
3. Most Disappointing Book of 2010? For me, it’s gotta be Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins and that’s mainly because I’m still pissed about Katniss’ “choice” which wasn’t much of a choice to begin with.
4. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2010? Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler. I wasn’t expecting to like this book as much as I did but I loved it!
5. Book you recommended to people most in 2010? The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen, The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins and Graceling by Kristin Cashore.
6. Best series you discovered in 2010? The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
7. Favorite new authors you discovered in 2010? Suzanne Collins (I know, I’m starting to sound like a broken record) but does she even count because she’s been around for a few years but she’s a new to ME author.
8. Most hilarious read of 2010? The Iron Fae series, every single time that I’ve read these books- Puck keeps me laughing throughout it all.
9. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2010? Graceling by Kristin Cashore.
10. Book you most anticipated in 2010? In the YA genre? Hmm, I think that would have to be Misguided Angel by Melissa De La Cruz.
11. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2010?

Hmm, I’ve always had a soft spot for the cover for Forget You by Jennifer Echols. I love the colors and the simplicity of it all. So cute!
12. Most memorable character in 2010? Katniss Evergreen from The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins.
13. Most beautifully written book in 2010? Beastly by Alex Flinn. Loved this book and thought it was so wonderfully written book that I read in 2010.
14. Book that had the greatest impact on you in 2010? 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher.
15. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2010 to finally read? Everything that I read by Sarah Dessen.

Book Blogging in 2010 (optional)

1. New favorite book blog you discovered in 2010? A Girl, Books and Other Things. I love reading Alex’s posts and seeing what she thought on the different books that she’s reading. We read a lot of the same books and I just heart that girl! =)
2. Favorite review that you wrote in 2010? I think, off the top of my head that my favorite review that I wrote would have to be Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins.
3. Best discussion you had on your blog?
4. Most thought-provoking review or discussion you read on somebody else’s blog?
5. Best event that you participated in (author signings, festivals, virtual events, memes, etc.)? I really enjoy participating in the ARC Tours that Holly from Good Golly Miss Holly puts together, she is such a delight to work with and it’s always been such a treat to read and review the books she’s got touring around the world. I also love participating In My Mailbox memes, the Follow Friday/Book Blogger’s Hop and the YA Spooktacular event was a lot of fun too. So many awesome events in the YA community this year. Loved them all!
6. Best moment of book blogging in 2010? How sad that I can’t remember anything. Hmm, I’ll change my answer if I think of one but right now, I can’t so I’m sorry.
7. Best bookish discover (book related sites, book stores, etc.) ? NetGalley. I freaking love that place.

..and that’s your scoop!
