Passion attracts and blood binds, but hidden truths may destroy everything.
Nicole’s life is poised for change. Her co-workers throw her a going-away party that lands her in a sizzling triangle between two immortals.
Joseph and James crave Nicole, needing her to complete their mythical trinity. She is drawn into this erotic covenant where the laws of day and night, good girl and bad, are surrendered for a darker bond. The deeper she falls for the vampires, the more her fears come alive.
In this second installment of the Moonlight and Shadows series, the Templar Knights return to offer Nicole an escape from this Darker Trinity.
I originally started this story with the intention of just reading a little bit of it and then going to bed. That wasn’t exactly how it happened. I started reading and I was hooked, I couldn’t put my ereader down. I stayed up and finished the book.
Nicole meets Joseph and James and is immediately attracted to them. She goes on a date with James and then the next night gets asked out by Joseph. She doesn’t want to betray either of them but she has feelings for both men. They end up having a lovely little ménage experience and it’s wonderful.
Joseph and James are looking for the third person, a woman, to complete their Darker Trinity. Now I didn’t read the first book so I wasn’t quite sure what the whole Trinity concept was about but I went with it. Joseph and James each bite Nicole but at separate times. She cannot become a vampire unless she partakes of their blood. During a heated kiss between Joseph and James though, a fang makes one of them bleed. After kissing Nicole she then gets the blood accidentally and turns Vampire.
The Knights Templar are kind of like the police force with the supernatural crowd and they weren’t too thrilled that Nicole was turned without all the major paperwork going through first. They let the transition happen however.
Nicole decides right off that she doesn’t want to be a vampire and requests death from one of the Knights. He says that if that’s what she wants then he’ll do it but not right that second. Nicole starts to fall in love with both Joseph and James and decides that she doesn’t want to die.
During all of this romance, there’s another story going where a rogue vampire on the loose who is turning humans into vampires and building his own army to fight the Knights Templar. The Knights are trying to find out who the culprit is but not having a ton of luck.
I really liked this story. I think that the way Ms. Gilmer portrayed her characters was very realistic. These were people that you would meet on the street or at work – and end up being friends with. While I was curious about the Knights Templar and felt that I wanted more info on them in this book it is book 2. I guess I’ll just have to go back and read book one.
The only thing I didn’t like about this book (and there was only 1 which was incredible) was the end when it was right in the middle of an exciting moment and the words: “to be concluded…” were printed on the next line! aaaaaarrrrg! lol I will definitely be reading book 3 in this series, Broken Shine, as soon as it comes out which I hope is soon.
