Casee

Devil in Winter (Wallflowers #3) by Lisa Kleypas: I picked up this book before Devil in Spring because I wanted to remember how sweet Sebastian & Evie were. It did not disappoint the second time around.

Saving Grace by Julie Garwood: Saving Grace is like pulling on a comfortable old sweater. I love this book from beginning to end. Every time I read it, I love it a little more.

Oracle’s Moon (Elder Races #4) by Thea Harrison: Khalil & Grace are such an unlikely couple. I love how Khalil gets to know Grace & fully admits he was wrong about her. I love the family dynamic. I really just love everything about this book.

Angels’ Blood (Guild Hunter #1) by Nalini Singh: The book that started the AMAZING Guild Hunter series. This was my first reread of this book & I decided to listen to it on audio. It me an entire different aspect on the series when I listen to it on audio.

Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain #2) by Kristen Ashley: This is another book that is an old favorite. Anytime I can’t figure out what to read, this book has always been there for me.

Honorable Mentions: The Wedding by Julie Garwood, The Secret by Julie Garwood, and Ride Steady (Chaos #3) by Kristen Ashley.

Holly

Saving Grace by Julie Garwood: This may be my all time favorite Garwood novel. I love watching Johanna find her feet and come into her own. The underlying message about female empowerment really speaks to me.

The Wedding by Julie Garwood: Brenna and Connor are so different, and yet work so well. I love the overall story-arc and the way they clash but still come together.

Wildfire (Hidden Legacy #3) by Ilona Andrews: This is probably my most re-read book of 2022. I love everything about it and find myself gravitating toward it when I need a comfort read.

Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss, #1) by Nalini Singh: The first time I read this book I didn’t love it. I read is a second time and it was like the sun came out. I don’t know why, but that second read really worked for me. I’ve read it several times since then, but this year I rediscovered my love for it and read it on three separate occasions. Folly, FTW!

Night Unbound (Immortal Guardians, #5) by Dianne Duvall: This is my favorite book in the series. I really loved Zach and Lisette and I ended up reading this several time throughout the year.

Katie Reus: KR was a new-to-me author this year. I loved every.single.one of her books. I can’t get enough of her.

Abigail Owen: AO was also a new-to-me author this year. I really enjoyed her writing & her Inferno Rising series.

Dianne Duvall: Yet another new-to-me author, I really enjoyed all the books I read by DD.

Nalini Singh: Although I didn’t love Archangel’s Resurrection, I loved Storm Echo. It was classic Nalini Singh.

Georgia Lynn Hunter: My fourth new-to-me author on this list–I love her stories & her writing!

Honorable Mentions: Claire Kinglsey, Rebecca Zanetti, and Lisa Kleypas.

Holly

Dianne Duvall: Duvall was probably my best find of 2022. I hadn’t read her before and it was great having a huge backlist to glom. Her books aren’t all 5 star reads, but they were entertaining and kept me engaged.

Michelle Diener: I’m so glad I discovered Diener and was able to binge read the Class 5 series.

Lucy Score: Lucy Score’s books remind me of early Kristen Ashley. I love the way she brings her characters to life.

T.A. White: I had read White prior to 2022, but I discovered a new appreciation for her world-building when I read The Firebird Chronicles.

Ilona Andrews: I probably read Ilona Andrews the most in 2022. I reread the entire backlist plus some. The word-building and consistency makes for a rich and rewarding reading experience every single time.

Honorable Mentions: Kate Canterbary, Lorraine Heath and Nalini Singh.

It’s that time of year again. The time where we come together and look over the books that we’ve read over the course of 2022 and list our favorites. Today’s list will include all of our favorite series of 2022. Join us for a week of reflecting on our favorites and not so favorite reads, authors, heroes, heroines, and series.

Casee

Ancients Rising by Katie Reus: Toward the end of last year, dragons were all I was interested in. I so enjoyed this series. It’s kind of a dystopian paranormal, which is one of my favorites.

Inferno Rising by Abigail Owen: Yet another dragon shifter series that I absolutely adored.

Bailey Brothers by Claire Kingsley: Contemporaries weren’t really my thing in 2022, but I really enjoyed the Bailey Brothers.

Immortal Guardians by Dianne Duvall: Oh, this series. I was so happy when I found out how many books there were to read. I loved every single one of them.

Fallen Guardians by Georgia Lyn Hunter: Another new-to-me author, I really enjoyed getting to know this world.

Honorable Mentions: Dark Protectors by Rebecca Zanetti, Redemption Hills by A.L. Jackson, and Aldebarian Alliance by Dianne Duvall.

Holly

Immortal Guardians by Dianne Duvall: The Immortal Guardians series isn’t perfect, but it’s interesting and I really enjoyed the progression of the overall story-arc and the way the characters developed as the series went on.

Aldebarian Alliance by Dianne Duvall: This is a spinoff of the Immortal Guardians series, but actually the first series by Duvall that I read. I really loved it the first time, but I understood the nuances better after completing the IG series. I definitely recommend both.

Once Upon a Dukedom by Lorraine Heath: This is a spinoff of the Sin for all Seasons series and I was so happy when I realized Heath was writing it. I loved reading about the children of the disgraced duke and watching them find their way in their new reality.

Class 5 by Michelle Diener: Michelle Diener was a new author for me in 2022. I really liked the Class 5 series. Each book brought something new to the world, while the overall story-arc pulled me in. I’m hoping we see more in this world in the future.

The Firebird Chronicles by T.A. White: Tracy recommended this series to me. I’m only sorry it isn’t finished yet and I’m forced to wait. The world is rich and full of multifaceted characters. Plus, I really loved the way the romance developed over the course of the series. If you’re into kickass women, this is a great series for you.

Best of 2022: The Books

Casee

Devil in Spring (The Ravenels #3) by Lisa Kleypas: I haven’t really read historicals for the last five years. I used to love them, but I just stopped reading them for some reason. When I was looking for an audiobook, I chose this one because Mary Jane Wells is amazing. I am so happy that I read it because it has gotten me back into historicals. I loved both Pandora & Gabriel. I adored how Gabriel adored Pandora. He let her be herself & didn’t ask her to change.

Say It’s Forever (Redemption Hills #2) by A.L. Jackson: I love a good, gritty contemporary & that is exactly what this book delivered. Jud was such a tortured hero & I loved reading how he & Salem found their way to each other.

The Segonian (Aldebarian Alliance #2) by Dianne Duvall: SF has never really been my thing, but I decided to read this series because I’m a huge fan of Dianne Duvall. Imagine my surprise when this book ended up on my list this year. Eliana is everything I love in a heroine & Dagon wasn’t too bad himself.

Storm Echo (Psy-Changeling Trinity #6) by Nalini Singh: I don’t think I need much of an explanation for this one. It’s Nalini Singh. Enough said.

Darkness Rising (Darkness #8) by Katie Reus: KR was a new-to-me author this year. I loved everything of hers that I read. This one was a little higher on my list than the others because of Greer & Reaper. They are so opposite, but exactly what the other needed. I loved every minute of this book.

Honorable Mentions: Garrett’s Destiny by Rebecca Zanetti, Hello Stranger by Lisa Kleypas, and The Cursed King by Abigail Owen.

Holly

Magic Tides (Kate Daniels: Wilmington Years #1) by Ilona Andrews: This was such a killer book. I loved catching up with Kate, Curran and Conlan as they settle into a new life.

Storm Echo (Psy-Changeling Trinity #6) by Nalini Singh: I really loved Ivan and Lei and thought this story was very well done.

The Duchess Hunt (Once Upon a Dukedom #2) by Lorraine Heath: I didn’t think I would enjoy this book and it ended up being my favorite of the series. I’m not usually a fan of the unrequited love trope, but everything about it worked for me here.

The Segonian (Aldebarian Alliance #2) by Dianne Duvall: The first chapter of this book is so gripping it has stayed with me. I loved the progression of the storyline and the romance, but that first chapter…wow.

Dark Minds (Class 5 #3) by Michelle Diener: I enjoyed this entire series, but I think this was my favorite of the bunch. There was just something about Imogen that I connected with.

Honorable Mentions: Soul Taken by Patricia Briggs, Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score, and Night Unbound by Dianne Duvall.
