Ames‘ review of Second Act by Barbara Huffert
Martin Binks has made it big in Hollywood but there’s something missing from his life. When he heads back to his hometown to regroup, he finds it in his high school pal, Josie, now a grown woman with curves in all the right places.
Josie Weston is thrilled when Binks walks back into her life. Not admitting her feelings for him was the one regret she’s always had. She was too timid to act on her fantasies when they were younger, but now…
This EC Quickie was a cute, satisfying read. If you enjoy the friends to lovers theme and want some hot loving, I would suggest Second Act.
Martin Binks has returned to his hometown to take a break from his acting career. First night home, he runs into Josie Weston, his childhood best friend. Although it’s been 10 years since they’ve seen each other, their friendship was so strong that they pick up right where they left off. Only this time, they’re both old enough to go after what they want.
What was great about this one was there was no angst. Clocking in at 30 pages, there wasn’t room for angst, but it’s still refreshing. Second Act does edge a bit into treacly sweetness at the end, but it’s still a fun read.
