Life is full of expectations.
For Brady Coldwell it’s always been about the game.
Hockey is and always will be, his life.
His family sacrificed everything to get him here and he won’t let them down.
He knows what’s expected of him.
Natalie Banks is no different.
She too knows what it means to have everyone sacrifice for you.
She knows about the debt that’s left owing in the end and the price you pay for making up your own mind.
But when an innocent mistake lands them as roommates, neither of them is prepared for the feelings they have or the consequences of their actions.
How do you negotiate matters of the heart?
How do you say no when it simply feels so right?

Roommates is a light-hearted romance that worked for me. I thought it was cute and fluffy and perfect for what I was in the mood for.

Brady Coldwell (affectionately known as BJ to his mother) is a hockey player and is moving in with his buddy’s friend Nate so that they can split rent and he can live closer to work. When Nate turns out to be Natalie, Brady comes to terms with this even though Natalie is hot and it’s going to be hard to stay away from that…but he can make it work. They can become friends and live together…right?

Nat is expecting BJ, a gender neutral named girl to be her roommate but when Brady shows up, she knows that her best friend lied to her to get her to loosen up and she is not at all amused…but she can be a grown up and friend zone Brady…right?

Wrong.

I laughed a lot while reading this book. It just had the fun vibe going for it and I was wrapped up in all of the shenanigans going on. The dumb, the cute, the eye roll worthy, all of the shenanigans. This was a really quick read and it was one that didn’t take itself too seriously so I didn’t either. I can see why this book wouldn’t work for everyone though. Both Brady and Nate did some eye roll worthy things (mostly Brady) but I thought Erin Leigh did a great job of smoothing things over in the end.

I enjoyed BJ and Nate Dog and I liked seeing them grow from strangers to friends to lovers. Their story may have been short and quick but it was still enjoyable to me.

I’m so glad you liked this! It was a big standout for me last year. Now we just need to get Holly to read it. 🙂

  2. I don’t know man, I had Ames read it and she didn’t enjoy it at all. I’m scared of what Holly would think…still, I enjoyed it heaps!

I can see people’s issues with this book. It’s a hot mess for sure. TBH, I haven’t been all that tempted to reread it. But it was exactly what I needed at the moment I found it, and sometimes that’s all you can ask for. I still think Holly should read it, if only for discussion value. 😉
