Rowena: Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and Friday is Christmas Day and we’re taking those days off so you guys are getting this post a little earlier than normal but guess what? I read some damn books, yay!
This week, I read Did I Mention I Love You? by Estelle Maskame, which was okay. I think I may be growing out of my YA phase because this book was good but it read a little too young for me. I found myself being frustrated with everything and everyone for a good chunk of the book and the first thing that popped into my head when I finished it was, “Maybe I’m getting too old for this shit” so I’ll probably be cooling it on YA’s for the time being. So after I finished that book, I did another re-read of The Deal, I can’t stop myself from reading that book. I freaking love that book. Garrett and Hannah are just great.
Last night, I started and finished Dukes Prefer Blondes by Loretta Chase and holy cow, I loved it. It had everything that I loved from the first three books in the Dressmakers series and the humor that I adored from Lords of Scoundrels. This book was just fan-freaking-tastic.
Which leaves me to now, I have no idea what I’m going to read next. Probably Lord Dashwood Missed Out by Tessa Dare because I’m still in a historical mood.
Holly: I haven’t read a single book all week. Between family visits and a migraine that’s been plaguing me, I’ve had little time and almost no desire to start something new. Hopefully after the craziness of the next couple days I can relax over the weekend and catch up on my reading.
What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!
Happy holidays you guys! 🙂
Thanks Jen, same to you!!
I read my first Tami Hoag book this week, Kill the Messenger. I really liked it, and definitely want to read some more of her. Or did I read it last week? I’ve been so swamped at work the days are running together!
Now I’m reading an older Harlequin Presents, Perfect Chance, by Amanda Carpenter. I think this is the first of her books I’ve read, and I’m really enjoying it. Forty pages in I had already flagged three passages that I particularly liked to go back and refer to when I write up a review. She has so many quotable lines!
So of course I had to go and look up Perfect Chance by Amanda Carpenter. Looks like an oldie but goodie so I’m in. Thanks for the heads up!
Amanda Carpenter is also Thea Harrison, right? I’ve been meaning to try her Presents.
That’s what the girl I got a stack of her books from told me. I’ve never read Thea Harrison either, though, so it didn’t really mean anything to me. But I’ll be looking for that name now also!
Dragon Bound is one of the best paranormal romances I’ve ever read.
Ooh I love older harlequins, thanks for sharing!
It’s been a busy week thus far so I’ve not done too much reading.
— Doing No Harm by Carla Kelly (this was a wonderful historical romance)
— re-read a novella by another of my favorite historical romance authors ~
The Governess Affair (The Brothers Sinister) by Courtney Milan
— Darkest Before Dawn (KGI series) by Maya Banks. While I enjoyed a number of the earlier books in the series, this one left me feeling rather uninspired.
— Mary Balogh’s Christmas Gifts is a collection of three holiday novellas. All were enjoyable.
— A Fortunate Blizzard by L. C. Chase which is an enjoyable m/m romance.
Hi Kareni!
I’ve had The Governess Affair in my TBR pile for I don’t even know how long, but it’s been a long, long time. I should really get to that one.
The Governess Affair is an excellent novella. (And I don’t often say that!) Happy holidays.
Thanks, I hope you had a great holiday yourself Kareni! I’ll get that one read for sure. 🙂
I’m reading Some Enchanted Season by Marilyn Pappano. It’s one of my favorite holiday re-reads and I read it every December. I’m a little behind, but I love it!
Casee! Good to see you around these parts sweets. You’re missed. 🙂
