Rowena: I have been totally slacking on keeping up with my monthly reads, especially in the month of October. It took me a long time to figure out what the heck I read but I finally got it all figured out.

1. Wild by Sophie Jordan | 3 out of 5
2. The Art of Pretending by Rachel Harris | 3.5 out of 5
3. Torn Away by Jennifer Brown | 3 out of 5
4. Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson | 4 out of 5 (re-read for book club)
5. My True Love Gave to Me Anthology | 3 out of 5
6. The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen | 4.75 out of 5 (re-read)
7. Whatever Life Throws at You by Julie Cross | 4 out of 5
8. Where Dreams Begin by Lisa Kleypas | 4.5 out of 5 (re-read)
9. Losing Control by Jen Frederick | 3 out of 5
10. Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally | 4.75 out of 5 (re-read)
11. Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally | 4 out of 5 (re-read)
12. Married by Morning by Lisa Kleypas | 4.5 out of 5 (re-read)
13. Trust in You by J. Lynn | 3.5 out of 5
14. Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson | 4.5 out of 5 (re-read)
15. A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught | 4.5 out of 5 (re-read)
16. All Broke Down by Cora Carmack | 4.5 out of 5

As you can see, October was the month of re-reads. It was the re-reads that kept me alive. A lot of the time, I would read right before going to bed or right when I woke up in the morning and instead of starting something new, I’d scroll through my books on my iPad and just open random books that caught my eye and just start reading. I wanted comfort reads, things that I knew I enjoyed.

But of the books that I read for the first time, my favorite read of the month goes to All Broke Down by Cora Carmack. I thought this book was too freaking cute for words. I enjoyed getting to know Silas and I thought Dylan was a delightful character. Their story was a solid read and I enjoyed every minute of it.

My least favorite book of the month goes to Wild by Sophie Jordan and that breaks my heart because I absolutely adored Logan. I thought he was a great hero and he was the only reason that saved that book from being a DNF and from getting a lower score than what I gave it because Georgia? I don’t think she deserved Logan. She got on my nerves from the very beginning and in the end? I didn’t think she made enough amends for Logan to forgive her. She just kept right on pissing me off throughout the entire book and it drove me crazy.

Holly: October was a pretty good reading month for me. I read 23 books. Quite a few were re-reads, but I can’t be sorry about that since they were historical and I’ve been in the mother of all historical slumps since…2011?

Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover by Sarah MacLean | 4 out of 5
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas | 5 out of 5 (re-read)
Worth Any Price by Lisa Kleypas | 5 out of 5 (re-read)
The Lion’s Lady by Julie Garwood | 4.75 out of 5 (re-read)
The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen | 4.5 out of 5
Tank by Mallory Malone |3.75 out of 5
Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James | 4 out of 5 (re-read)
The Shape of My Heart by Ann Aguirre | 4.25 out of 5 (re-read)
The Year We Fell Down by Sarina Bowen | 3.75 out of 5
Reckelss by Skye Jordan | 4 out of 5
Bound by Night by Larissa Ione | 4 out of 5 (re-read)
Chained by Night by Larissa Ione | 4 out of 5
Razed by Shiloh Walker | 4 out of 5
Wild Man by Kristen Ashley | 3 out of 5 (re-read)
Under Pressure by Laurie Roma | 3 out of 5
Claimed by Evangeline Anderson | 3 out of 5
Hunted by Evangeline Anderson | 3.75 out of 5
Her Dakota Man by Lisa Mondello | 2.75 out of 5
The Long Way Home by Kathleen O’Brien | 2.75 out of 5
Sought by Evangeline Anderson | 2 out of 5
Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley | 2.25 out of 5 (re-read)
Law Man by Kristen Ashley | 2 out of 5 (re-read)
Blonde Date by Sarina Bowen | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month (aside from re-reads, which I’m not going to count) was The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen. That book packed such an emotional punch I ended up doing the ugly cry. Bridger. Scarlet. Sigh.

My least favorite read was probably Sought by Evangeline Anderson. The characters were jerks and the story slow and mostly boring. The problem I keep running into with that series is it has the potential to be great. The world and premise are interesting, but the characters are a struggle to deal with. I read three books waiting for it to get better.

This month we’re giving away:

The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen (digital copy only)
All Broke Down by Cora Carmack (digital copy only)

If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. 1. I don’t want to enter, I just want to say that Sarina Bowen’s Ivy Years series is DA BOMB, and this one? (The Year We Hid Away) is tied at the top with The Year We Fell Down. Seriously great writing on every level.

  2. Kareni

Hmm, my favorite book of the month has been Shay Savage’s Transcendence; I’ve been thinking about the story and characters for days (which is rare for me).

Least favorite book of the month ~ hmm, that’s difficult as there have been a number of books that I haven’t finished. I’ll say Helena Hunting’s Clipped Wings which left me unmoved.

I’d love to read All Broke Down by Cora Carmack.

I didn’t read a whole lot during October… I’d have to say that my least fav read was Ashwyn by Nadia Lee. it wasn’t bad just meh for me. My fav was a tie between Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews and Archangel’s Shadows by Nalini Singh. I loved The Year We Hid Away and I’m entering for All Broke Down by Cora Carmack 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

My favorite reads of the month were Hard Fall (C.J. Lyons suspense/thriller,) The Groom Says Yes (Cathy Maxwell historical romance,) and Killing Patton (O’Reilly/Dugard biography of Gen. George S. Patton.) My least favorite book was Bella Andre’s The Look of Love, the first in her Sullivans series. Don’t enter me in the contest–my TBR stack overwhelms me. Thanks.
