Holly: July was a unique reading month for me in that I didn’t re-read one single book and every book I tried was by a new-to-me author. I’m really bad about branching out and trying new authors. I made a real effort to break out of my comfort zone for our 2nd annual DFRAT. I’m glad I did. Even though I read some not-so-great books, I discovered a couple of real gems.

  1. Turn and Burn by Lorelei James 3.75/5
  2. The Bet by Rachel Van Dyken 3.5/5
  3. The Winning Season by Alison Packard 3.75/5
  4. Wallbanger by Alice Clayton 4.25/5
  5. Beauty and the Billionaire by Jessica Clare
  6. Love at High Tide by Chrisi Barth 4/5
  7. Defying the Odds by Kele Moon 2.5/5
  8. The Firefly Cafe by Lily Everett 3/5
  9. Rock Me by Cherrie Lynn 4/5
  10. Making the First Move by Reese Ryan 3/5
  11. Unleashed by Cherrie Lynn 3/5
  12. Her Mad Hatter by Marie Hall 2/5
  13. Rule by Jay Crownover 3.75/5
  14. The Rocker That Savors Me by Terri Anne Bronwing 2/5
  15. Rock Her by Rachel Cross 2/5
  16. The Rocker That Holds Me by Terri Anne Browning 1/5

My favorite reads of the month were Beauty and the Billionaire by Jessica Clare (VIRGIN HERO!!) and Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. My least favorite reads were the Rocker series by Terri Anne Browning, though The Rocker That Holds Me was probably the worst of the lot. The writing is terrible, the plot holes huge and the characters lame and ridiculous. I wish I could say why I read all of them, but I have to plead temporary insanity. Or something.

Rowena:  July was a fantastic reading month for me.  I read so much and a lot of the books that I was reading, I was enjoying.  I didn’t love everything that I read but I enjoyed a bunch of them and that made me happy.

Here’s what I read:

  1. Life of the Party by Kate Davies (3 out of 5)
  2. Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley (4.5 out of 5)
  3. Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley (4.5 out of 5)
  4. Right of Way by Lauren Barnholdt (3.5 out of 5)
  5. Dirty Little Secret by Jennifer Echols (4 out of 5)
  6. Crossing the Line by Katie McGarry (4 out of 5)
  7. That One Night by Sarah Billington (3.5 out of 5)
  8. You Look Different in Real Life by Jennifer Castle (4 out of 5)
  9. fml by Shaun David Hutchinson (3 out of 5)
  10. Undercurrent by Paul E. Blackwell (3 out of 5)
  11. Confessions of an Almost Girlfriend by Louise Rozett (4.5 out of 5)
  12. The Rules of You and Me by Shana Norris (4 out of 5)
  13. Undeclared by Jen Frederick (3.25 out of 5)
  14. Frigid by J. Lynn (3.5 out of 5)
  15. If You Stay by Courtney Cole|C
  16. Double Click by Lisa Becker (3 out of 5)
  17. If You Leave by Courtney Cole (4 out of 5)
  18. Between the Lines by Tammara Webber (4 out of 5)
  19. Where You Are by Tammara Webber (4.5 out of 5)
  20. Good for You by Tammara Webber (4 out of 5)

Wow, I read 20 books in the month of July.  This is probably why I’m 15 books ahead in my Goodreads Reading Challenge for the year.  My favorite read from July was Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley.  I adored this book and I adored Tate and Lauren, even though Tate was a major asshole.  The book was a bit longer than it should have been but because I thought Lauren was pretty bad ass, I didn’t mind too much.  I’m so glad that Holly and Ames talked me into reading Kristen Ashley because I really enjoy her books.  I’m not as addicted to her books the way that they are but she’s still a pretty awesome author.  My least favorite read of the month goes to fml by Shaun David Hutchinson.  This book was confusing and though it didn’t completely suck, I spent most of the time confused over what was the real and what wasn’t.  I couldn’t connect with the main character and most of the time, I wanted to smack him upside his head so yeah, that’s why.

How was your July in reading?
