Tracy‘s review of Diamond Wolf by Kat Haeske
This was a strange yet oddly intriguing tale of Kieran, a Lupine, who was captured by a vampire, Edward. Edward tried to break him by torturing him but Kieran did not break. Edward then brought in another vampire to try to break him by sodomizing him.
The new vamp, Wulf, more or less takes Kieran’s soul out of his body into Wulf’s world. On the outside Kieran is getting beaten, among other things, but on the inside Wulf is being kind and gentle. He doesn’t take Kieran against his will, but Kieran eventually says yes.
Two years later Kieran is finally coming to terms with what happened to him and realizing that he can’t ignore the fact that Wulf is his mate any longer. So Kieran sets out to find Wulf which he does. Wulf has regained his soul and is no longer a vampire. He’d been thoroughly beaten by Edward and left to die when Kieran finds him.
What happens after that is the healing of Wulf and the poignant emotional and physical coming together of these two men.
There were a couple of things in the story that were not spoken of: how Kieran escaped Edward and how exactly Wulf got his soul back but I didn’t feel that the lack took away from the story at all. For a short story (50 pages) I felt that it packed a great punch.
