Tracy‘s review of Atlantis Unleashed (Warrior’s of Poseidon, Book 3) by Alyssa Day
Poseidon’s warriors swore an oath eleven thousand years ago to protect humanity from those who stalked the night. Now those powerful forces are uniting. So are two souls who are all that stand between justice and the eternal darkness…
A warrior prince…Lord Justice made the ultimate sacrifice for his brother and paid for it with an unimaginable torture. Now he’s back, rescued from death, his sanity shaken, and his mission inescapable—the search for the lost Star of Artemis. But the beautiful human female whom he has sworn to protect is shadowed by an evil that could destroy them both…
A woman of science…The archaeological artifacts of Atlantis speak to Dr. Keely McDermott, sharing visions of life long ago. The ancient revelations have cast her into a world between past and present, between reality and illusion—and, when she meets the fierce Atlantean warrior assigned to guard her, between terror and temptation. Now as their two worlds collide, so too will danger and desire…
So Justice returns from the Void, which is where the Vampire Goddess, Anubisa, was keeping him he sees Keely. He has seen Keely in visions before but he had no idea who she was to him. The minute he lays eyes on her he jumps to her and basically beams himself and Keely to an underground cavern. He has no idea how he has gotten them there so he has no idea how to get them out. You see the Nereid half of his soul has started to try and take over and it was that half that transported them.
Keely McDermott is a little confused. First an Atlantean comes to her office in

I’ve recently, in the past month or so, read the first 4 stories in this series. I have to say that I thought this was really the weakest one so far. In the past books we’ve see the Atlanteans coming together with a rebellion against vamps and shifters who want to take over the world (humans are aware of their existence) and it had been great to see the strides that the groups were making in the previous books. This book however showed very little of that rebellion and I think that the book really suffered for it. The story was more focused on Justice and Keely and Justice’s fight to men his fractured mind.
With Keely and Justice’s relationship it had more of a shapeshifter/destined mate feel to it on Justice’s side than an actual romance. He saw her and knew she was his mate and he wanted her, period. He did state at one point (which all the warriors in the books do, which I truly appreciate) what he truly loved about her personality but it was more or less overshadowed by the “mine” thing he thought over and over.
For Keely’s part she had found a wooden carving of a fish some years before and since she is an object reader, kind of like a touch psychometry, she saw Justice carving the fish. He had kind of been a grounding point for her in the past. To have him now live and in person was a bit disconcerting for her, but she was trying to deal with it. Justice acted very crazy at first so she tried to stay as far away from him as possible but she eventually caved to his manliness. I didn’t get what her final motivations were for giving in to him in the middle of a Guatemalan jungle, but she did and it from there it steamrolled.
Although I didn’t love this book I will continue to read the series to see what happens next. There are a couple of warriors that I’m looking forward to reading about.
