Ivy may be the odd woman out in the field of construction, but that doesn’t mean she can’t do a man’s job. And in heels, no less. But when she sees the man in question, undressing him becomes far more interesting a prospect.
Jake Shaw is proud of the business he’s built and isn’t about to be bossed around by a sassy vixen who clips into his life in cherry red pumps. Their clash is instant, their attraction undeniable, their use of his big desk…delicious.
Before Ivy can catch her breath she’s breaking all the rules with Jake. The more time she spends with him, the harder she finds it to convince herself he’s all wrong for her.
This “quickie” clocks in at 30-some pages and I’m really impressed by how the author used her limited page count to deliver a neat little story.
Ivy’s father owns a construction business and although she worked in marketing, she is now back in the family fold and her first big project is a $40 million hotel. Unfortunately, the project manager has come to her with some bad news – the excavator is taking long and holding up the rest of the job. Ivy refuses to have her father step in and deal with this so she goes to the job site herself. She comes head to head with Jake Shaw, the owner of the excavating company. He politely informs her that he’s fired the project lead and he’s filling in and doing whatever necessary to get the project back on track. He then proceeds to seduce Ivy right there in his office. *g* Three months of delightful sexual bliss pass and then Ivy finds out there was a bet at the project site to see how quickly Jake could get Ivy into bed.
OMG I love how quickly things progressed between Jake and Ivy. Office sex is hot and Ivy was a strong woman who was aware of how it would look if news of their affair got out. I thought the author did a good job of setting the story up quickly and establishing a bond between these two. I did feel that Ivy gave into to Jake’s apology at the end too quickly, but overall, that didn’t affect how much I enjoyed this quickie. 3.75 out 5. If you want something fast, read this story. It was good.
