De-stress this holiday season with a romance
Thank you to the ladies of Book Binge for having me as their guest today! I’m here to talk about my new release, The Boyfriend of the Month Club, and about the upcoming holidays and my favorite way to de-stress.
Shopping. Baking. Sending out Christmas cards. Cleaning… The list goes on. Every holiday season I stress out just thinking about all I have to get done. It’s enough to make my inner Scrooge wish for January 2! So whenever I feel a ba-humbug moment coming on, I take a deep breath and try to remember the reason for the season, and that no one really cares if my house is a little dusty except me (and maybe my mother-in-law) and that I’m only human and can only do so much. That’s when I try to slip in some Me Time. Because you know the old saying, “If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.” And believe me, that’s as true at my house as anywhere else!
Being an avid reader as well as a writer, naturally, I relax by doing what I love best and that’s curling up with a good story. A few hours of blissful escape into a world that I know will provide me with a happily-ever-after ending. I love reading new authors, and favorite authors with new releases, but I also love to reread my “keepers.” Those are the books that I don’t ever sell at garage sales and only lend out to my most trusted friends. Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few of those! Old favorites include some of the classics, like Pride and Prejudice and Little Women, mixed in some contemporary romance like Ain’t She Sweet? by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie and almost any historical by Madeline Hunter (I love everything she writes!)
I’d love to know what your favorite books are. Leave a comment below and five lucky winners will be randomly chosen to receive a copy of my December release, The Boyfriend of the Month Club. It’s a romantic comedy about a woman who turns her dysfunctional book club into a boyfriend club, where members come together to discuss the men they’ve dated, comparing them to classic literary heroes and villains. I hope it will soon be on your list of “keeper” romances!
Most of the books/authors Maria listed are favorites of ours, too. I love it when that happens.
Answer Maria’s questions from above for a chance to win one of 5 copies of The Boyfriend of the Month Club. Contest ends 12/12/10 @ 11:59pm.
This book is available from Berkley. You can buy it here or here in e-format.
