Monthly Reads: April 2011

Holly: Is it just me, or did April seem to go on forever? Or maybe I just feel that way because I was in a reading funk? Either way, I’m glad the month is over. I only read 11 books in April, 7 shy of my monthly goal. Hopefully I’ll make it up elsewhere.

1. Baby, Drive South by Stephanie Bond 4/5
2. Collision Course by Zoe Archer 4.25/5
3. A Fool Again by Eloisa James 4/5
4. Catching Caroline by Sylvia Day 3.75/5
5. Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn 4/5
6. The Many Sins of Lord Cameron by Jennifer Ashley 4.5/5
7. The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross 3.75/5
8. Silk is for Seduction by Loretta Chase 4.25/5
9. Storm’s Heart by Thea Harrison 4/5
10. Delaney’s Shadow by Ingrid Weaver 3.5/5
11. Honor’s Spendour by Julie Garwood (re-read) 5/5

Grades subject to change as I review them. It seems like I always feel more/less kindly to books until I start reviewing them. Then my feelings solidify and the true grade emerges. Anyway, my favorite read of the month were The Many Sins of Lord Cameron and Collision Course by Zoe Archer, with Silk is for Seduction as an honorable mention. My least favorite read of the month was probably Delaney’s Shadow, but that isn’t saying much because I enjoyed it.

Rowena: April wasn’t a good reading month for me (for obvious reasons) but I did get some reading in. Not much, but some. Check out my list:

  1. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. 5 out of 5
  2. The Espressologist by Kristina Springer. 3.75 out of 5
  3. Between Here and Forever by Elizabeth Scott. 3.5 out of 5
  4. She’s So Dead to Us by Kieran Scott. 4 out of 5
  5. The Edge of Night by Jill Sorenson. 4.5 out of 5
  6. The Summer of Firsts and Lasts by Terra Elan McVoy. 3 out of 5
  7. Sixteenth Summer by Michelle Dalton. 4 out of 5

Damn, only one romance. What is really going on with me? Must fix that soon because that one romance that I read was the bomb!

Casee: I spent much more time organizing my books than reading them this month.

1. Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione (4.25/5)
2. The Ideal Man by Julie Garwood (4/5)
3. Storm Kissed by Jessica Andersen (4.5/5)
4. The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter (4.5/5)
5. Savage Nature by Christine Feehan (4/5)
6. Night Magic by Jennifer Lyon (4/5)

This month we’re giving away:

Collision Course by Zoe Archer (e-format only)
Storm Kissed by Jessica Andersen (pre-order)
The Edge of Night by Jill Sorenson

If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. Also, be sure to tell us what book you’re interested in reading. You can put your name in for more than one book, but you’ll only be allowed to win one, so choose wisely.

So…what was your favorite read of the month? And your least favorite?

Holly I envy you – am dying to read The Many Sins of Lord Cameron!

My favourite read was Roxanne St Claire’s Face of Danger – her best book to date IMHO.

My least favourite read – Erin McCarthy’s The Chase which i really cannot comment on because i didn’t even finish it. Didn’t grip me enough.

Would love to win The Edge of Night by Jill Sorenson.

  2. I am jealous of you lot having got to read stuff like Girl In a Steel Corset and Eternal Rider already 😀

Least favourite book: Running In Fear: Escaped by Trinity Blacio

Favourite book is harder as I read many good books last month. It’s a toss up between River Marked by Patricia Briggs and Street Game by Christine Feehan .

    I would love to read
Collision Course by Zoe Archer if I get lucky and win 😀

  3. Holly i’m so jealous i can’t wait untill Just Like Heaven comes out! I love Julia Quinn’s books.
My favourite read of the month was Raising Kane by Lorelei James. My least favourite read was Assassin’s Honor by Monica Burns. I just could not get into that book!
I would like to be entered for Collision Course

  4. Hello,

My fave read of April was Pamela Clare’s Breaking Point. I was lucky to get it early from bn.com and I was not disappointed!! The suspense part was great and so was the romance between the characters. Plus, the other characters from the I-team series played a role, which made the book even better.

My least favorite was probably – Chasing Fire – by Nora Roberts. I usually enjoy her books, but I just couldn’t get into the plot and characters this time around.

I would be interested in Jill Sorenson’s Edge of Night. Thanks.

  5. Archangel’s Kiss by Nalini Singh would be my favorite read this month and my least favorite book would be Demon Moon by Meljean Brook. I just couldn’t get into it.

  6. CK

Hands down favorite (for this year actually) was Big Bad Beast by Shelly Laurenston. Least favorite was Naked Dragon by Annette Blair. Too bad too ‘cuz the cover was great.

  7. Let’s see

Favorite for April: Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger, Unveiled by Courtney Milan & Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke’s Heart by Sarah MacLean

Least Fav – A few erotica that I read – not much to talk about.

I’d love a copy of Collision Course by Zoe Archer. 🙂

  8. Chelsea B.

My favorite was His Dark Kiss my Eve Siler– Guh! First book I’ve read by this author, and it was six shades of fabulous!
Least favorite– Oh, gosh. I didn’t really have a least favorite! Sorry, but it was a good reading month for me 🙂

  9. My favorite last month was Treachery in Death by JD Robb, least favorite, Hit List by Darcia Helle.

I read so many good ones it’s hard to choose, but I’ll go with In the Bleak Midwinter by Julia Spencer-Fleming. Most disappointing would be One Touch of Scandal by Liz Carlyle, because she’s usually a favorite.

I’d be interested in reading Jill Sorenson, because I’ve read some interesting reviews by her lately. — willaful

  12. My favourite from April was Hot Pursuit by Suzanne Brockmann – excellent! Least fave was The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton – I wanted to like it more than I did; I felt it was a bit disjointed, okay but not awesome. Still the best cover ever though! 🙂

I’d love to read The Edge of Night by Jill Sorenson.

  13. I read a few less than usual, but had a couple of A reads. My favorites were A Marriage of Inconvenience by Susanna Fraser and The Mane Event by Shelly Laurenston. Least favorite was The Werewolf Upstairs by Ashlyn Chase.

As for which book I’d want if I win, it’s a toss-up between Collision Course and The Edge of Night.

    Carol Lynne – Brier’s Bargain

I’d like to win The Edge of Night by Jill Sorenson. I’ve never read her books before!

  16. Least favorite 311 Pelican Ct. by Debbie Macomber. From the blurb I read it was supposed to be a mystery, but the body showed up in the previous book and the mystery isn’t solved or really worked on in this book. I also didn’t love the many storylines.

A good, not great read: A Hard Day’s Fright by Xasey Daniels. A quick, fun read, but not a great work.

Can’t think of a book this month that I had to share.
