Holly: March was a strange reading month for me. I started out really strong, but lagged toward the end of the month. I hope that isn’t a sign of things to come. I don’t want to fall into another reading funk.
I read 20 books. I actually read quite a bit more than that, but I don’t count half re-reads (or skim jobs). So 20 it is. Not a bad number, but not as great as it could have been if I’d actually read at my normal pace the last couple weeks. Ah well, such is life.
- Alpha and Omega: A companion novella to Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs (re-read) 4.75-5
- Oracle’s Moon by Thea Harrison (re-read) 4.75/5
- Silk is for Seduction by Loretta Chase (re-read) 4.25/5
- Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis 4.25/5
- Moonshell Beach by JoAnn Ross 4.25/5
- Skies of Fire by Zoe Archer 3.75/5
- A Night Like This by Julia Quinn 3.75/5
- Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs (re-read) 4.25/5
- Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs (re-read) 4.25/5
- Fair Game by Patricia Briggs 4.25/5
- Anything But Mine by Linda Winfree (re-read) 4.25/5
- Crazy on You by Rachel Gibson 2.75/5
- Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James 2.75/5
- Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James 2.5/5
- Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James 2/5
- Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss by Maya Banks 3.5/5
- Undone by Her Tender Touch by Maya Banks 3.5/5
- Midnight Rescue by Elle Kennedy 2.75/5
- The Rancher and the Rockstar by Lizbeth Selvig 1.5/5
- More Than One Night by Sarah Mayberry 4.5/5
I’m back to reading a lot of contemporary romance. None of the paranormals I started kept my interest and the one romantic suspense I read was a huge fail (this is a recurring theme for me. I am not the person to judge RS by. I’m way too hard on the characters/scenarios). My favorite reads of the month were Fair Game by Patricia Briggs, the 3rd book in her Alpha and Omega series, Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis, Moonshell Beach by JoAnn Ross and More Than One Night by Sarah Mayberry.
My least favorite read was The Rancher and the Rock Star by Lizbeth Selvig. The hero was a complete pushover and the heroine a judgmental know-it-all. Plus, the premise was just silly.
Rowena: I had a pretty bad reading month. I didn’t get to read as much as I planned on reading but I’m not worried, I’ll come out of this reading slump. I read half as much as Holly read and she lagged toward the end of the month.
Here’s a look at what I read in the month that was March 2012:
- A Night Like This by Julia Quinn.
- The Lifeguard by Deborah Blumenthal.
- Pieces of Us by Margie Gelbwasser.
- How to Eat a Cupcake by Meg Donahue.
- Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard.
- Slide by Jill Hathaway.
- Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter.
- Girl Meets Boy by Various Authors.
- Too Hot to Touch by Louisa Edwards.
- Some Like it Hot by Louisa Edwards.
My favorite read of the month definitely goes to A Night Like This by Julia Quinn. Julia Quinn knows how to write the historical romances that keeps me in fits of giggles and swooning over her heroes. I adored Daniel in this book and cannot wait for more from the other characters in this series. The Smythe-Smith family is definitely turning out to be quite the colorful family that I’m loving the hell out of.
Special nods go to Too Hot to Touch and Some Like it Hot by Louisa Edwards. I enjoyed those stories as well but JQ hit all of my buttons with ANLT so she edged the Hot books, but not by much. My least favorite read is a tie between The Lifeguard by Deborah Blumenthal and Pieces of Us by Margie Gelbwasser. Both weren’t what I expected and I was a bit disappointed, not that they were bad books or anything. Just not what I was expecting and hoping for.
This month we’re giving away:
More Than One Night by Sarah Mayberry
A Night Like This by Julia Quinn (pre-order)

So…what was your favorite read of the month? And your least favorite?
Favorite of the month was Julie James’ About That Night least favorite read for me was Grace Callaway’s The Husbands Harlot but it was still a decent read. I would love to win Julia Quinn’s newest. Mojostablesatyahoo.com
My favorite read for the month was The Secret by Julie Garwood. I’ve been reading her earlier works and just love them.
My least favorite read was Protector by Catherine Mann. I usually like her books;however, the plot line for Protector was just unrealistic and didn’t flow well at all.
I would love to win Julia Quinn’s book. love2_read@ymail.com
Like Holly, my favorite read of the month was Fair Game. I just adore the Alpha/Omega series. Also loved Ride With Me by Ruthie Knox. I didn’t really have any bad reads, other than a couple of free reads, but since they were free, they don’t really count.
I love Julia Quinn. I can’t wait to read this one.

I read Time Out by Jill Shalvis and loved it! Even her categories are always a hit. After that, I realized that I still hadn’t read Animal Attraction (I have no clue how this could have happened) and quickly read it and loved it , too!
I’d love to win the new Julia Quinn book!
Thank you for the giveaway.

Quality-wise, March was a good month for me. I only read 13 books, but I enjoyed all of them. My favorites were Rainshadow Road (Lisa Kleypas) and Third Grave Dead Ahead (Darynda Jones.)
If I win, I’d like the Quinn book. Email is in profile. Thanks.
My enjoyed Rainshadow Road and At Your Pleasure, but was a bit disappointed with Sophia Nash’s, Between the Duke and the Deep Blue Sea. The problem with the latter book was the number of characters that were needed to set-up the series.
Please enter me in the drawing for both books. Thanks.
gah, I don’t really keep track of what I read that way…
though I have to say that I have something stuck in my craw, so I guess that can count?
(and, interestingly enough, it’s not even about BDBcrack)
I finally found and read the Christmas anthology with Courtney Milan, Nicola Cornick and Mary Balogh, and while I enjoy the first two quite a bit, I’m very very peeved at the ending of the last one.
Ms Balogh had the male protagonist deliver a completely modern conservative scree to the heroine, regarding how the sex they shared before he discovered that yes, it was luuuuuuurve, was ‘a sin.’
Sorry, what? grrrrrr
*ahem*
Yeah, a bit annoyed still.
My favorite reads were Beth Kery’s Claiming Coleen, Jennifer Probst’s The Marriage Bargain and Sarah Mayberry’s More than one night. I was quite disappointed with Kelly Hunter’s new book “Cracking the Dating Code” since I loved all her previous novels. I would like to win Julia Quinn’s new novel.
I’m in a bit of a reading slump at the moment. But my fav book this month has to be The Calling by Kelley Armstrong. Loving her new YA series. Worst has to be everything else. I just can’t get into anything at the moment.
Oh wow… April already?
I’m constantly blown away by how much you ladies read!! I only read 13 books in March and a lot of them were series continuations. I think my favs were: Fair Game by Patricia Briggs, Sweet Enemy, a debut by Heather Snow and Discount Armageddon By Seanan McGuire. My least favorite wasn’t terrible, I was just a bit disapointed in A Perfect Blood by Kim Harrison, a meh addition in her Hollows series. Other than that, I had a good reading month (although Goodreads is telling me I’m falling behind on my reading goal 🙂 )
I’d love to try Try Julie Quinn’s A Night Like This.
Thanks for the great giveaway and happy reading for April!
My favorite was A NIGHT TO REMEMBER by Walter Lord. It’s actually a non-fiction about the Titanic. It’s superbly written.
My least favorite was JONATHON STRANGE & MR NORRELL by Susanna Clarke. I just could not get into it.
I’d love to read A NIGHT LIKE THIS thank you.

Would love A Night Like This by Julia Quinn 🙂
