June was the month of Kleypas for me. I went down a re-read rabbit hole. I finished 20 books in June, but the majority of them were rereads.

The Monster MASH (The Monster MAS*H #1) by Angie Fox | 3.25 out of 5

White Lies (Rescues #4) by Linda Howard (reread) | 4 out of 5
Waking the Dragon (Vale of Stars #1) by Juliette Cross | 2.75 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was Devil in Disguise, with an honorable mention to Wolfish Charms by Jenna Collett (a new-to-me author). My least favorite read was The Monster MASH by Angie Fox. I didn’t really dislike it, but the writing was choppy and the story was kind of all over the place.

I can’t believe we’re already in July. June came and went in the blink of an eye for me. I did manage to read 6 books and I read some pretty quality books so I’m one happy camper. Here’s a list of the books I read last month:

To Sir, with Love by Lauren Layne (eARC) | 4 out of 5
Devil in Disguise (The Ravenels #6) by Lisa Kleypas (eARC) | 4.5 out of 5
Lord of Scoundrels (Scoundrels #3) by Loretta Chase (eBook) (Re-read) | 4 out of 5
Worth Any Price (Bow Street Runners #3) by Lisa Kleypas (eBook) (Re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary (eBook) | 4.25 out of 5
So We Meet Again by Suzanne Park (eARC) | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Devil in Disguise by Lisa Kleypas because that book was such a good time. I enjoyed revisiting with old friends and diving into the steamy romance between Merrit and Kier. Their book was just a fantastic read and I’m super anxious for more from this world. I’m not going to list a least favorite because I enjoyed every book that I read so let’s just leave it at that.

I’m still working my way through a re-read of the Bridgerton series. It’s been years since I first read them, but I’m enjoying each book. I was a bit disappointed in Sarah Morgan’s, The Summer Seekers. Sarah Morgan is a great writer, but the heroine in this story kept dwelling on the negatives in her life without confronting any of the issues. A simple conversation would have answered many of her complaints.

I read 26 books in June, including all the books in Claire Kingsley’s Miles Family and Bailey Brothers series. So many good books, but I think my favorite was Kingsley’s PROTECTING YOU & FIGHTING FOR US, a duet about the adjustments a couple have to make when the hero goes to prison and again seven years later when he’s released. My least favorite book was Diana A. Hicks’s KING OF BEASTS. It was billed as a mafia romance with a Beauty & the Beast trope, but it seemed more about the hero’s kink—Japanese rope bondage. I had to DNF.

I quite enjoyed One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston; it’s a romance with a unique premise. It has a time slip element and the main characters are two women.

As to least favorite, I started and put aside at least a dozen books.

June was a very long month without as much reading time as I usually have. I had an easy worst book, which wasn’t terrible just not the best: Jassinda Wilder’s Lizzy Goes Brains Over Braun. I read a lot of the Lyon’s Den books by various authors and they kept me entertained some are better than others.

My favorite book of the month was The Good Girl’s Guide to Fantasy and Adventure by Evi Kline. More LitFic than romance but so good. Least favorite was For Vacation Only by Mila Nicks, mainly because I didn’t feel any sparks between the h and h and the plot was rather predictable.

worst book: Find You in Paris by Alix Nichols
The Whispering Dead by Darcy Coates was interesting
