Books to Binge On: November 2015

I really hate that so many awesome books are released in November and December. I mean, it’s not like I need to buy gifts or food for the holidays, right? ::sob::

1. November 9 by Colleen Hoover.

Holly: Rowena and I read this together for review. I have to tell you, it was pretty freaking fabulous. My emotions were all over the place while reading. I definitely recommend it.

Rowena: Yes. This book has it all. You won’t be disappointed.

2. The Game Plan by Kristen Callihan.

A beard-related dare and one hot-as-hell kiss changes everything.

NFL center Ethan Dexter’s focus has always been on playing football and little else. Except when it comes to one particular woman. The lovely Fiona Mackenzie might not care about his fame, but she’s also never looked at him as anything more than one of her brother-in-law’s best friend. That ends now.

Fi doesn’t know what to make of Dex. The bearded, tattooed, mountain of man-muscle looks more like a biker than a football player. Rumor has it he’s a virgin, but she finds that hard to believe. Because from the moment he decides to turn his quiet intensity on her she’s left weak at the knees and aching to see his famous control fully unleashed.

Dex is looking for a forever girl, but they live vastly different lives in separate cities. Fi ought to guard her heart and walk away. But Dex has upped his game and is using all his considerable charm to convince Fi he’s her forever man.

Game On

Holly: This was such a fabulous book. Dex was wonderful and I really loved Fiona. This is shaping up to be one of my favorite series of the year.

Rowena: Yes, again. This was another fabulous addition to the Game On series and Dex was everything I hoped he’d be and Fiona was everything I wanted for Dex. This series is the bomb.

3. One King’s Way by Samantha Young.

The New York Times bestselling author of On Dublin Street returns to the bar where it all began with Braden and Joss for a white-hot new novella full of passion and drama.

When he’s not working at the club, Craig Lanaghan looks out for his mother and little sisters. So when it comes to women, all he wants is a good time. But once Rain Alexander walks into his life, there’s no denying that this woman could be worth much more than a one-night stand….

Holly: This is a novella set between On Dublin Street (book 1) and Down London Road (book 2). I really enjoyed revisiting the world. The story is short, but sweet.

Rowena: Is it written by Samantha Young? Is it a part of the On Dublin Street series? Then, of course I want to read it. I can’t wait!

4. Sweetest Scoundrel by Elizabeth Hoyt.

Holly: I can’t believe this is the 9th Maiden Lane book. I just started reading historical romance again, so I’m going to queue this series up. I’ve only read the first two or three, I think, so I have some good reading ahead of me.

5. Once Upon a Marquess by Courtney Milan.

The last man Judith Worth wants to see again is Charles Trent, the Marquess of Ashford—the man who spent summers at her family home, who kissed her one magical night…and then heartlessly ruined her father. But when a tricky business matter arises, he’s the only one she can ask for help. With any luck, he’ll engage a servant to take care of the matter, and she won’t even have to talk with him.

But Ashford has never forgotten Judith. He knows she will never forgive him for what he’s done, but when offered the chance to assist her, he arrives in person. His memory of Judith may have haunted him, but it pales in comparison to the reality of the vivacious, beautiful woman he rediscovers. Throughout his life, he has always done what is correct. But now, he finds himself doing something utterly wrong…falling in love with the one woman he can never have.

Holly: This is the start of a new series. Milan writes really smart novels and I’m looking forward to this one.

6. A Mackenzie Clan Gathering by Jennifer Ashley.

Ian Mackenzie is awakened at Kilmorgan Castle one night to find robbers stealing the priceless art collection of his oldest brother, Hart. Since Ian and Beth are the only ones in resident at Kilmorgan at the moment, Ian decides he must find the art and the culprits before the family shows up for Hart’s birthday gathering. With Inspector Fellows and Beth, he investigates, though Ian is somewhat worried by Beth’s late husband’s brother, a retired missionary, who decides to visit. Does John Ackerley hold the “cure” to Ian’s madness? And can Ian discover what has happened to Hart’s treasures, and who is targeting the Mackenzies before the enemy strikes again?

Return to Kilmorgan Castle to visit the Victorian branch of the Mackenzie family, and catch up on the brothers and friends, their children, and their lives.

Holly: This is meant to be a reunion type book, I think. I love this family and I’m really excited to see them get together. Especially since this appears to be told from Ian’s point-of-view.

7. Pia Does Hollywood by Thea Harrison.

After making a diplomatic pact with humankind and the other leaders of the Elder Races, Pia Cuelebre, mate to Dragos Cuelebre, Lord of the Wyr, reluctantly heads to Hollywood to spend a week with the Light Fae Queen, Tatiana, before the busy Masque season hits New York in December.

Dragos has never let the lack of an invitation stop him from doing anything he wanted. Unwilling to let his mate make the trip without him, he travels to southern California in secret to be with her.

Holly: This is a continuation of the story arc from Dragos Goes to Hollywood. I can’t wait to see where it goes. I love the drama of these little shorts.

8. Revealed to Him by Jen Frederick.

Holly: I liked the first couple books in this series. I’m glad to see she’s continuing in the same world but focusing on new characters.

9. Rocky Mountain Shelter by Vivian Arend.

Holly: Arend writes such fun, sweet stories. I can’t wait to dig in to this new one.

10. Controlled Burn by Shannon Stacey.

Rick Gullotti lives the good life. He fights fires, dates beautiful women—though none long enough so they cast wistful glances at jewelry stores—and has great friends. And thanks to helping out the elderly couple who own his building, his rent is low. But when concerns about their health lead him to contact their only son, his life starts getting away from him.

Holly: I have the first book in my TBR pile still, but I’m digging on the premise of this.

Rowena: I have the first book in my TBR pile too and the premise of this book is what made me want to read the series. It sounds good so I’m in.

11. Heart Legacy by Robin D. Owens.

Holly: I love this world. I really wish I could live on the planet of Celta.

12. Mackenzie’s Heroes: Mackenzie’s Pleasure and Mackenzie’s Magic by Linda Howard.

Holly: Obviously this isn’t a new release, but I’m noting it here because it’s becoming available in digital format! DIGITAL Y’ALL!

Rowena: Oh man, I remember these stories. swoon I’m all over getting these in digital!

13. The Opposite of Right by Christi Barth.

Kylie Stafford has spent her whole life doing exactly what’s expected. The right major, the right sorority, the right guys, just like her mother and her sister before her. But when everything falls apart for her, Kylie wonders if doing everything right has been utterly wrong. There’s only one way to find out.

She decides to try making all the wrong choices for three months. Hit on a tattoo-covered rock musician? Check. Go back to his dressing room for a hot hook-up against the wall? Gulp. Drop everything to be a roadie for him to binge on more of the best sex of her life? Maybe. Start falling for him despite her better judgment? Um….yeah. Figure out why doing everything that seems wrong feels so darn right?

Holly: This is the start of a new series about a rock band. Have I mentioned that I’m a complete and totally sucker for rock stars? Because I totally am. This was a short story that I really enjoyed. I’m anxious to see where the rest of the series goes.

Rowena: Did someone say rock band? Sign me up!

14. The Truth about Lies by Courtney C. Stevens.

Sadie Kingston, is a girl living in the aftermath. A year after surviving a car accident that killed her friend Trent and left her body and face scarred, she can’t move forward. The only person who seems to understand her is Trent’s brother, Max.

As Sadie begins to fall for Max, she’s unsure if she is truly healed enough to be with him — even if Max is able to look at her scars and not shy away. But when the truth about the accident and subsequent events comes to light, Sadie has to decide if she can embrace the future or if she’ll always be trapped in the past.

Rowena: The premise of this story sounds interesting to me so I’m really looking forward to digging into this story.

15. How to be Brave by E. Katherine Kottaras.

An emotional contemporary YA novel about love, loss, and having the courage to chase the life you truly want.

Reeling from her mother’s death, Georgia has a choice: become lost in her own pain, or enjoy life right now, while she still can. She decides to start really living for the first time and makes a list of fifteen ways to be brave – all the things she’s wanted to do but never had the courage to try. Rowena: This was another book that caught my eye. I’m really interested in reading this book and seeing how everything turns out for Georgia so I’ll bingeing (is that a word?) on this book.

16. Saving Grace by Kristen Proby.

Sparks fly like snowflakes when a klutzy but gorgeous novice crosses skis with a hot resort owner in this tempting tie-in to New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby’s popular Love Under the Big Sky series!

Rowena: I was sold on this book once I read hot resort owner. I’m all in.

Holly: I haven’t read the first book – or any book by Probst – but this sounds really good. I’m in.

17. Did I Mention I Love You? by Estelle Maskame.

Rowena: I’m not going to lie, the reason I want to read this book is because it’s set in Santa Monica, California. I know that place. It’s close to home and I saw that this author is from Scotland so I wanted to see Santa Monica through her eyes.
