As you can see, October was the month of re-reads. It was the re-reads that kept me alive. A lot of the time, I would read right before going to bed or right when I woke up in the morning and instead of starting something new, I’d scroll through my books on my iPad and just open random books that caught my eye and just start reading. I wanted comfort reads, things that I knew I enjoyed.
But of the books that I read for the first time, my favorite read of the month goes to All Broke Down by Cora Carmack. I thought this book was too freaking cute for words. I enjoyed getting to know Silas and I thought Dylan was a delightful character. Their story was a solid read and I enjoyed every minute of it.
My least favorite book of the month goes to Wild by Sophie Jordan and that breaks my heart because I absolutely adored Logan. I thought he was a great hero and he was the only reason that saved that book from being a DNF and from getting a lower score than what I gave it because Georgia? I don’t think she deserved Logan. She got on my nerves from the very beginning and in the end? I didn’t think she made enough amends for Logan to forgive her. She just kept right on pissing me off throughout the entire book and it drove me crazy.
Holly: October was a pretty good reading month for me. I read 23 books. Quite a few were re-reads, but I can’t be sorry about that since they were historical and I’ve been in the mother of all historical slumps since…2011?

Blonde Date by Sarina Bowen | 4 out of 5
My favorite read of the month (aside from re-reads, which I’m not going to count) was The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen. That book packed such an emotional punch I ended up doing the ugly cry. Bridger. Scarlet. Sigh.
My least favorite read was probably Sought by Evangeline Anderson. The characters were jerks and the story slow and mostly boring. The problem I keep running into with that series is it has the potential to be great. The world and premise are interesting, but the characters are a struggle to deal with. I read three books waiting for it to get better.
This month we’re giving away:
The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen (digital copy only)
All Broke Down by Cora Carmack (digital copy only)
If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. Also, be sure to tell us what book you’re interested in reading. You can put your name in for more than one book, but you’ll only be allowed to win one, so choose wisely.
So…what was your favorite read of the month? And your least favorite?
I don’t want to enter, I just want to say that Sarina Bowen’s Ivy Years series is DA BOMB, and this one? (The Year We Hid Away) is tied at the top with The Year We Fell Down. Seriously great writing on every level.
Hmm, my favorite book of the month has been Shay Savage’s Transcendence; I’ve been thinking about the story and characters for days (which is rare for me).
Least favorite book of the month ~ hmm, that’s difficult as there have been a number of books that I haven’t finished. I’ll say Helena Hunting’s Clipped Wings which left me unmoved.
I’d love to read All Broke Down by Cora Carmack.
I didn’t read a whole lot during October… I’d have to say that my least fav read was Ashwyn by Nadia Lee. it wasn’t bad just meh for me. My fav was a tie between Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews and Archangel’s Shadows by Nalini Singh. I loved The Year We Hid Away and I’m entering for All Broke Down by Cora Carmack 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
My favorite reads of the month were Hard Fall (C.J. Lyons suspense/thriller,) The Groom Says Yes (Cathy Maxwell historical romance,) and Killing Patton (O’Reilly/Dugard biography of Gen. George S. Patton.) My least favorite book was Bella Andre’s The Look of Love, the first in her Sullivans series. Don’t enter me in the contest–my TBR stack overwhelms me. Thanks.
no fav; didn’t like crush by Lacey Weatherford
