Holly: August was a terrible reading month for me. I managed 16 books, but just barely. I wanted to read, I just couldn’t decide what. I really hate feeling so blase about my reading.

Promise Me This by Christina Lee | 4.25 out of 5
Falling for Max by Shannon Stacey | 4.5 out of 5
Echoes of Scotland Street by Samantha Young  | 4.25 out of 5
Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
Lick by Kylie Scott  | 3.5 out of 5
Play by Kylie Scott | 4.25 out of 5
Lead by Kylie Scott | 4.25 out of 5
Archangel’s Shadows by Nalini Singh | 4 out of 5
Taking Control by Jen Frederick | 4 out of 5
Night’s Honor by Thea Harrison | 3.75 out of 5
No Strings Attached by Susan Andersen | 4 out of 5
How To Reprimand Your Rockstar by Mina Vaughn | 3 out of 5
No Attachments by Tiffany King | 3 out of 5
Highland Groom by Hannah Howell (re-read) | 3.75 out of 5
Against the Cage by Sidney Halston | 2.75 out of 5
Rhett by J.S. Cooper | 1 out of 5

My favorite reads of the month were Promise Me This by Christina Lee, book 4 in the Between Breaths series. I absolutely adored it. Falling for Max by Shannon Stacey, the last book (for now) in her Kowalski series was so unexpected and so wonderful. Honorable mentions go to Play and Lead by Kylie Scott and Echoes of Scotland Street by Samantha Young. Though really, I read a lot of great books this month.

My least favorite read of the month was Rhett by J.S. Cooper. That book was a train wreck.

Rowena: August was an okay reading month for me. I finally got my hands on one of the books that I’ve been anxious for (Isla & the Happily Ever After) and I inhaled that mug in one sitting.  Here’s what I read last month:

The Devil in Denim by Melanie Scott | 3 out of 5
Just like the Movies by Kelly Fiore | 4 out of 5
Once More, My Darling Rogue by Lorraine Heath | 3.5 out of 5
One in a Million by Jill Shalvis | 4.5 out of 5
Make it Count by Megan Erickson | 3 out of 5
No Strings Attached by Susan Andersen | 4 out of 5
Echoes of Scotland Street by Samantha Young | 4.5 out of 5
What I Thought was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick | 3.5 out of 5
Isla & the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins | 5 out of 5
Shatter by Erin McCarthy | 4 out of 5
Don’t Call Me Baby by Gwendolyn Heasley | 3 out of 5
Badlands by Jill Sorenson | 3 out of 5
Irresistible Force by D.D. Ayres | DNF, 1 out of 5 of what I read
No Attachments by Tiffany King | 2.75 out of 5
Before We Fall by Courtney Cole | DNF, 1 out of 5 of what I read
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins | 4.75 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Isla & the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins. It was such a cute story and perfect for what I’m always in the mood for. Josh and Isla were such fun to get to know and their story had me grinning like a school girl from the time I opened the book until the time I closed it. So good! It was well worth the long wait for me. Honorable mentions go to One in a Million by Jill Shalvis (great ending to a fabulous series!) and Echoes of Scotland by Samantha Young (LOVED Cole!).

My least favorite read of the month is a tie between Irresistible Force by D.D. Ayres and Before We Fall by Courtney Cole. Both books just did not work for me. At all.

This month we’re giving away:

Falling for Max by Shannon Stacey (digital only)
Promise Me This by Christina Lee (digital only pre-order)
One in a Million by Jill Shalvis (pre-order)

I loved, loved The House On Mermaid Point by Wendy Wax. Great series and best read in order. I barely finished The Tea Shop On Lavender Lane by Sheila Roberts. Usually she’s one of my auto reads but this time the sister’s constant bickering drove me crazy

  2. I continue to mostly re-read. The mojo, it doesn’t come back.

The best of the month was totally Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh. I can’t thank you enough for letting me know about it in time to get in on the blog tour and get an ARC.

    As for the worst…

I made the mistake of reading Shooter, by Dahlia West (it was one of the deals at Dear Author and Jane said it was funny–I have been unable to post my review/rant, but trust me, throw-at-the-wall worthy).

Can’t believe another month has gone by! Favorite read(s) of the month was a tie between Jill Shalvis’ Rescue My Heart and Julie Anne Long’s How The Marquess Was Won. Although one was contemporary and the other historical, both are part of my favorite “must-read” series. I always enjoy Jill’s books, they’re always sexy and funny. And I love how Julie Anne writes the Pennyroyal series. There’s so much emotion with the hero and heroine that I can’t help but be drawn into their romance.

Sad to say my least favorite was Susan Mallery’s Only Mine. I love the Fool’s Gold series but for some reason, this one just didn’t work for me. I felt it was very predictable and the side stories with Finn’s brothers weren’t very interesting at all. So I was disappointed with that book.

Please enter me for Jill Shalvis’ One In A Million, thanks! 🙂

I cheated this month and read a lot of novellas. I’ve also had a bad reading month which is also due to indecision and not enough time to read 🙁 But my August tally was 20 books/novellas. My least favorite was Awakening: A Dangerous Man #1 by Serena Grey. In fact, I barely remember what it was about. Not bad just very meh. My favorite read was A is for… by L. DuBois. It’s a BDSM erotic story but it was sexy and romantic and had a lot of surprising depth. I highly recommend this series and author! Thanks for the fun giveaway! I would love either Falling for Max by Shannon Stacey or One in a Million by Jill Shalvis. I’m hoping for a better reading month in September, especially since there are a lot of great new releases coming out!

Liked take a chance by Abbi Glines
Didn’t like If You Stay by Courtney Cole

would like Falling for Max, Promise Me This, or One in a Million

It was a horrible month for me, I was in a bad reading slump and I only read 4 books. But my favorite of the month was Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi I loved it, my least favorite was Devils Cub by Georgette Heyer. Normally I love her books, but this one drug for me, it got better at the end but I had t make myself finish it.

  7. Glenda

I didn’t get much read this month since work was horrible and we were moving both kids into college residences – my youngest for her freshman year (and then making a trip out the next weekend to bring out the things she forgot).

Can my favorite read be a trilogy? I read books 1 & 2 in Grace Burrowes’ Captive Hearts Trilogy (The Captive and The Traitor) I just started The Laird and love it too. My least favorite was a YA that I just couldn’t finish. Maybe because the heroine was a college freshman and it hit too close to home. . . . Everyone else who’s read it loves it so I think it was just me and I’m not gonna list it here. 🙂

If I win I’d love One In A Million! I adore Jill Shalvis!

My favorite read of August–and so far this year–was My Beautiful Enemy, by Sherry Thomas. What a beautiful, emotionally-packed book! I read (and enjoyed) her prequel novel, The Hidden Blade, and that added to my understanding and appreciation of My Beautiful Enemy. My least favorite read of the month was Wendy Corsi Staub’s The Perfect Stranger. I’ve liked some of her previous books, but this one didn’t work for me.

If I win, I’d love One in a Million by Jill Shalvis (first choice) or Falling for Max by Shannon Stacey. Thanks for the giveaway.

I enjoyed My Beautiful Enemy/The Hidden Blade by Sherry Thomas and luckily, didn’t have a terrible book. I’d like to be entered for the Jill Shalvis book.

  10. Ada

I had quite a few favorite books but I’d have to pick Vivienne Lorret’s Daring Miss Danvers. She’s a new author to me but it was absolutely splendid read. I gobbled it up and couldn’t wait to get to the second in the series. My least favorite book was The Bouquet List by Barbara DeLeo but not because it wasn’t good, just little things irritated me like how the heroine got blamed for everything that had gone wrong. But it was an eARC read so it wasn’t that bad, just not the best I read!

Please enter me for One In A Million by Jill Shalvis, thanks!!
