Rowena: With as busy as we were in June with the DFRAT, we skipped our Monthly Reads post for May and then June and then July and then we kept missing until we’re here in December. Sorry about that, so this week we have to make up for all of that. I think I’m getting old (actually, I know I am) because I can’t remember last week, let alone four months ago so I’m relying on my superb list making skills to remind myself what I read back then. Haha.
Here’s what I read in May.
May
- Jersey Angel by Beth Ann Bauman (1 out of 5)
- At Last by Jill Shalvis (4.5 out of 5)
- Ladies in Waiting by Laura L. Sullivan (3 out 5)
- Karma by Carly Phillips (4.25 out of 5)
- Pilgrims Don’t Wear Pink by Stephanie Kate Strohm (3 out of 5)
- Happy Families by Tanita S. Davis (4 out of 5)
- Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson (4 out of 5)
- Struck by Jennifer Bosworth (2 out of 5)
- The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland (3.75 out of 5)
- Keep Holding On by Susane Colasanti (4 out of 5)
- Unbreak My Heart by Melissa Walker (4 out of 5)
- In Honor by Jessi Kirby (4.5 out of 5)
My favorite read for the month of May is a tie between At Last by Jill Shalvis and In Honor by Jessi Kirby. I always adore the books that Jill Shalvis releases and she didn’t disappoint me with these new releases, At Last was a great romance and I’m looking forward to reading more from the folks of Lucky Harbor. Jessi Kirby is a YA author that I met at the Passion and Prose event back in February. When I met her, I had never read anything by her and I picked this book up thinking that I would enjoy it but I really enjoyed it. It was a great YA read. My least favorite read of May goes to Jersey Angel by Beth Ann Bauman. I just couldn’t connect with the main character and at the end of the book, I didn’t feel like there was enough redemption for the main character and it just all rubbed me the wrong way. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Holly: Rowena and I are both getting old. I can’t remember what I ate for breakfast this morning much less what I read 4 months ago. Lucky for all of us I keep track in Goodreads. Otherwise..ha.
In May I read 14 books. We’re going to call this The Month of Patrcia Briggs. I discovered the Mercy Thompson series and binged on it.
Rowena: You freaking cheater Holly! But I’m much too lazy to fix it so I’ll let you slide…you punk! LOL.
How was your reading in May?
I am reading Midnight Fear by Leslie Tentler – a new author I discovered this year. Part of a loose trilogy . . they can all be read as standalones.
Great!
Oops – forgot to put – they are romantic suspense ☺
