Secrets, Sexy hero, and Sizzling Sensuality….oh my…by Lila DiPasqua
I’m the author of the acclaimed historical romance series, the Fiery Tales. Yes, the series title does imply a certain level of heat in my fairy tale retellings. And I do deliver on that. 😉 Each book contains scorching love scenes and plenty of sexual tension.
But at the core of every one of these passionate novels—is a love story.
My latest Fiery Tale novel, UNDONE, is a romantic Rapunzel retelling. I take this beloved fairy tale, give it my own fresh twist.
Secrets—Oh, there are secrets in UNDONE! There’s always a good reason someone keeps a secret.
Sometimes it’s to protect someone. Sometimes it’s to protect themselves. Angelica has a secret she simply can’t reveal. To anyone.
Hiding in another country, away from her past has kept her safe. But the past can’t stay buried forever. Fate steps in and tosses her out of her element—and comfort zone. Straight into the arms of tall, dark and delicious, Simon Boulenger.
Sexy Hero—This master of seduction, is a commoner. But Simon is far from poor. He has obtained wealth through privateering for his country and king. He dresses and speaks as though he was born to the upper class. Yet, unfortunately, he’s ensnared in a dangerous game of intrigue. Simon is the only one standing in the way of a very powerful man and his nefarious ambitions.
Simon’s mission is a deadly one—to knock this powerful man from his privileged post and expose him as the corrupt individual he is.
Sizzling Sensuality—But, you see, Simon’s focus is compromised. The attraction between him and the mysterious Angelica, is white-hot. Intense. Irresistible. He’s determine to chip away at that wall until he knows everything about the beauty from the ‘tower’ he thinks he’s rescued.
Ever wondered what happens after the hero saves the beauty from the tower? Hope you’ll check out, UNDONE. It’s my most emotional romance to date.
Maintaining her ruse as a commoner, and trusting no one has kept Angelica safe. But a chance encounter with a handsome stranger lands her right where danger lies. Now, this sinfully handsome man with arresting blue eyes and a polished manner thinks he’s saved her life, when in fact he’s placed her in great peril. She’s intent on keeping him and everyone else at arm’s length. Yet, the smoldering attraction between them is difficult to deny. And impossible to ignore . . .
As commander of a number of privateer ships, Simon Boulenger dresses and speaks like an aristocrat, and has obtained wealth. But he is still not a noble. Or an officer in the King’s Navy. His lifelong dream to elevate himself from his station of birth and attain a respectable place in society is dead. Worse, he’s ensnared in a deadly scheme, and must get out. But how is he to stay focused on his dangerous mission when the mysterious beauty has him utterly intrigued? He can’t afford the distraction any more than he can resist the carnal hunger she stirs. Simon soon discovers that she’s not only a passionate soul mate, but a woman born into privilege. A woman he can never have. But they’re in too deep. Their hearts are at risk . . . as well as their lives.

QUESTION : What makes a hero swoon-worthy for you ?
Giveaway: One lucky winner will win a copy of UNDONE. Open international.
I love it when the hero is one of those quiet but smoldering types. And when the heroine brings out the soft, caring side of him most don’t see. It just makes my heart melt!
Oooh good question. He has to be handsome, of course, mysterious and kind. A sexy accent doesn’t hurt either 😉

Hi Lila,
I really.. really cant wait to read this book :/
He has to be strong, inside and out. Quiet, yet with a great sense of humor. Handsome helps 🙂 He’d be willing to die for you, to love you with every fiber of his being, and be embarresed to show it. He’d stand up for you and let you know how important you are to him. Sigh…
I meant, and NOT be emabrressed to show it. Ugh…lol
It’s very nice if the hero has great looks and a body that is lethal. But what would make him swoon worthy is if that man thinks the herione is the most beautiful woman on the earth no matter what she looks like, her weight larger or small, rich or poor. She is just it in his eyes!
If he is kind to children no matter how he acts towards everyone else or no matter how bad his reputation. An accent, preferably scottish and be dark and brooding.
We all like our heroes hot but I think one of the most important qualities is honor. He has to be honorable, as well as handsome, funny etc.
This book looks amazing! An angst-ridden hero is also swoon worthy.
I love the geeky hero. The quiet and kind of awkward guy whose still sexy. Accents don’t hurt either.
Smart, sexy, funny and all that… but he has to be a good guy who is madly in love with the heroine….
I have my moods of course. But I am all about the alpha men. But only in the best possible ways! 🙂
He’s got to be strong, protective, possessive, sexy, have a sense of humor, kind, honorable, and think the sun rises and sets with the heroine.

A lot of things make a hero swoonworthy for me. I like a hint of danger/naughty side. Love when there is humor. But mostly what makes him swoon worthy is when he is completely in love with his heroine.
Smart, sexy, good sense of humor. Does more than sit around with his friends at the club drinking and gambling. Has close guy friends. Willing to show his vulnerable side and disclose his feelings to the right woman.

My hero needs to be a man’s man…strong, secure, brave and loyal. Yet able to surprise you by bringing you wild daisies because you mentioned in passing that you loved them or gently cleaning that speck of dirt off your nose so he doesn’t miss seeing your light dusting of freckles.

Thanks for a fun post! I’ve read such awesome reviews for your books, I can’t believe I’m still so behind and haven’t read them yet 🙂
For me a hero to be “swoon” worthy has to have self confidence, a sense of humor and smart 🙂

To be swoon-worthy, I like an alpha hero that is smart and has a sense of humor.

What melts me about a romance novel hero is his alpha-ness hiding an inner core of kindness, sense on honor, courage, protective instinct and a heart that is only waiting to find the right match in a sweet loving woman in order to feel whole at last.

What makes a hero swoon-worthy to me is if even if he doesn’t agree he LISTENS to his heroine and enjoys her out-spoken independent nature.
Of course if he happens to handsomer than sin helps but recognizing his own mistakes is even more important!
When they’re sweet! Sexy-as-hell and strong, attractive, etc are good, but they have to be sweet towards their girl.

It’s all about how they treat the heroine and those people who are important to them. They can be super tough in the rest of their life but I want to see them give in just because the heroine asked them to.

a hero is swoon worthy if he knows the right words to say to make a woman’s knees wobble and forget all coherent thoughts in her head.

I love brown skin, tall and big hero.
But after all, it depends more on the characteristic of the hero. I love when the hero’s world become upside-down when he knew the heroine. And then he changed 180 degree (and he doesn’t know why).
