Holly: April was a slow reading month for me. I wasn’t in a slump, but..I was totally in a slump. Not the kind of slump where I don’t read at all. The kind where I read really slow and nothing sounds good, so it takes forever to get into a book. I managed to read 15 books, but that’s way less than the last few months.
- Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis (5 out of 5)
- At Last by Jill Shalvis (4.5 out of 5)
- Wolf Line by Vivian Arend (3.5 out of 5)
- Wolf Games by Vivian Arend (3.5 out of 5)
- Wolf Flight by Vivian Arend (3.5 out of 5)
- Wolf Signs by Vivian Arend (3.5 out of 5)
- Duncan’s Bride by Linda Howard (re-read) (4.25 out of 5)
- Firelight by Kristen Callihan (3.75 out of 5)
- Diamond Bay by Linda Howard (re-read) (4 out of 5)
- Midnight Rainbow by Linda Howard (re-read) (4 out of 5)
- Wolf Tracks by Vivan Arend (3.5 out of 5)
- Kamikaze by Moira Rogers (3 out of 5)
- Ember by Kristen Callihan (3 out of 5)
- Caught in the Act by Jill Sorenson (2.5 out of 5)
- Hunting the Shadows by Alexia Reed (3 out of 5)
My favorite read of the month was Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis. It’s no secret that I love Shalvis, but this book is probably the best I’ve ever read by her. The combination of humor and emotion drew me in and left me feeling warm, fuzzy and and extremely satisfied when I finished the book. My least favorite was Caught in the Act by Jill Sorenson. I liked the secondary plot with Maria, but the main characters and other secondary characters drove me up the wall. Rowena loved it, however, so it could just be my aversion to romantic suspense talking (though I doubt it).
Rowena: April was a busy month for me on the home front so I didn’t read much. I wasn’t suffering from a reading slump so I was a happy camper. I’m a happy camper even though Holly hated one of the books that I really enjoyed last month. Here’s what I read last month:
- Caught in the Act by Jill Sorenson (4 out of 5)
- Breaking Beautiful by Jennifer Shaw Wolf (3 out of 5)
- Somebody to Love by Kristan Higgins (3.5 out of 5)
- Girl Unmoored by Jennifer Gooch Hummer (4.5 out of 5)
- The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson (4.75 out of 5)
- Sugar Rush by Donna Kauffman (3.5 out of 5)
- Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis (4 out of 5)
- Nadia Knows Best by Jill Mansell (3.5 out of 5)
- Crazy on You by Rachel Gibson (3.5 out of 5)
- Radiate by Marley Gibson (4.5 out of 5)
- Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Coriell (4 out of 5)
My favorite romance read of the month goes to Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis. It was such a fabulous read with great characters and I wanted to steal Ty for myself. I think I could take Mallory. I’m always glad to read books by Shalvis because she always introduces me to some bangable heroes and heroines that crack me up. My least favorite read is probably Sugar Rush by Donna Kauffman. It was slow going in the beginning but I’m glad that I stuck with it because it got better but that beginning hump about killed my ass.
This month we’re giving away:
Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis
Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis (pre-order)
If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. Also, be sure to tell us what book you’re interested in reading. You can put your name in for more than one book, but you’ll only be allowed to win one, so choose wisely.
So…what was your favorite read of the month? And your least favorite?
My least favorite read this month was Secrets by Freya North, it’s the first book in a long time I couldn’t even muster the enthusiam to finish.
My favorite read this month was Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers Book 1) by Lisa Kleypas. I don’t normally read historical romance, but I always make an exception for Lisa Kleypas.
I’d love either book, I really enjoyed the series and didn’t even know about books 4-6.
Thanks, as always, for some great reviews.
Just so you know how crazy my life is…is The Witness an April book?
If so, that’s my favorite.
My least favorite was “A Handful of Gold”, the Mary Balogh novella in The Heart of Christmas anthology–oh the rant!
My favorites for April were Timeless by Gail Carriger and A Different Kind of Forever by Dee Ernst which was a self-pubbed book featuring two of my favorite tropes – the hero is a rock star, and it’s an older woman/younger man romance. As for least favorite, that would be A Heart of Little Faith by Jennifer Wilck.
I’d happily take either of the Jill Shalvis books. I have only read the first in the Lucky Harbor series, but I loved it.

I know I say this every month, but wow! You ladies blow me away with how much you read!
I’m in a massive reading slump. I don’t know why. I have a massive TBR pile with books I’ve was counting down until the release and when I finally got them, I went “meh” and put them in the pile. When I go to get a new book, I can’t pick anything up and start reading. And since I was anticipating so many of them, I don’t want to read them while in this mood, in case it ruins it.
For April, my favorite read was The Witness by Nora Roberts. It blew me away! My least favorite was Alien Mate by Eve Laglais. It was not bad, just meh for me.
Please enter me for either of Jill’s books. I haven’t read her books yet, but they are high on my wishlist.

I finally read a Tessa Dare book (A Night To Surrender) and really loved it. I ordered the second one of the series straight away and will read it as soon as it arrives.
My least favourite book was The Disgraced Playboy by Caitlin Crews. I’ve tried several Harlequin Presents now and not one of them got me really excited. I guess, I should accept they’re not my cup of tea.
I’d love to win either of the Jill Shalvis books, please.
Thank you for the giveaway.
