Book Watch: The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland

Posted February 3, 2012 by Rowena in Promotions | 5 Comments

Elizabeth Margaret—better known as Em—has always known what life would contain: an internship at her father’s firm, a degree from Harvard and a career as a lawyer. The only problem is that it’s not what she wants. When she gets the opportunity to get away from it all and spend a month with the aunt she never knew, she jumps at the chance. While there, Em pursues her secret dream of being a chef, and she also learns that her family has kept some significant secrets from her, too. And then there’s Cade, the laid-back local surfer boy who seems to be everything Em isn’t. Naturally, she can’t resist him, and as their romance blossoms, Em feels she is living on her own terms for the first time.

This book sounds like it’d be too cute for words. I love teen summer books. They’re free to do whatever they please and this girl just so happens to dig becoming a chef instead of a stuffy lawyer (ha), so I’m definitely going to check this book out. It comes out on May 10, 2012 so there’s still a bit of a wait but I’m sure I can find something to read between now and then. =)

Who’s going to be reading this book?

  1. Love the cover of this book 🙂 Looks fun… but I wonder, do you know what is the age of the characters Rowena? It seems this book might have college-age characters and I think that’d really be interesting 😉

Hey Nath! No, I don’t know how old she is but I assumed it was the summer before her freshman year of college though I don’t know that for sure.

I’ll do some digging and see what I can find out for you. Stay tuned…

    Nath!

I emailed the author and she replied back (such a speedy response) to let me know that Em just graduated from high school and it’s the summer before her freshman year in college.

    Woot!

I can’t wait to read this book!
