Monthly Reads: November 2011

Posted December 19, 2011 by Holly in Features | 17 Comments

Holly: November was a sad reading month for me. I just couldn’t seem to concentrate. I blame being in my 9th month of pregnancy and then giving birth. Those things seemed to kill my reading mojo. I managed to read 7 books, most of which were re-reads.

  1. Oracle’s Moon by Thea Harrison 4.5/
  2. Son of the Morning by Linda Howard (re-read) 4.25/5
  3. Hunter’s Choice by Shiloh Walker 3.25/5
  4. Celebrity in Death by JD Robb 4/5
  5. The Secret by Julie Garwood (re-read) 4.75/5
  6. Saving Grace by Julie Garwood (re-read) 5/5
  7. The Bride by Julie Garwood (re-read) 4.5/5

I think Oracle’s Moon was my favorite read of the month. I’m so loving Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series. Honorable mentions go to my Julie Garwood re-reads. I heart her earlier medieval romances.

Rowena: November was a horrible reading month for me. I’m kind of embarrassed to tell you guys what I read last month since I’ve been doing so good the rest of the year (even around my Mom’s funeral) but for some reason, nothing would stick with me long enough to finish in November so there you go.

This month I read:

  1. Because of You by Jessica Scott. (4 out of 5)
  2. Saving June by Hannah Harrington. (4.5 out of 5)
  3. My Life Undecided by Jessica Brody. (4.5 out of 5)
  4. Little Women and Me by Lauren Baratz-Logsted. (4 out of 5)
  5. SEAL of My Dreams by Various Authors. (4.75 out of 5)
  6. Catching Jordan by Miranda Kinneally. (4.5 out of 5)
  7. Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. (5 out of 5)

My favorite read of the month is Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. I really enjoyed getting lost in the world that Martin created for this series and being a fan of the show (though I did come to the show through force of torture by my work best friend), reading the book made me love the show even more since it explained so many things that I was confused about while watching the show. It’s an interesting world and I can’t wait to read more, to be with my friends again as James would say. I didn’t have a least favorite because I really enjoyed all of the books that I read in November.

Casee: I thought that being off work would give me much more time to read, but I was wrong. I thought it would give me more time to blog, but I was wrong. Honestly, I would have forgotten to post my monthly reads if Holly hadn’t sent me threatening texts about withholding my daily baby picture goodness. With a few dirty names thrown in.

I’m pretty sure that this number is wrong. I haven’t been the best at keeping track of my reading. As of today I’ve read zero books in December. That’s wrong. So according to my records, I read 7 books in November. I just don’t believe it.

1. Silent Fall by Barbara Freethy (4/5)
2. Lethal by Sandra Brown (4/5)
3. Nightshine by Lynn Viehl (4.25/5)
4. Spirit Bound by Christine Feehan (4/5)
5. Razor’s Edge by Shannon K. Butcher (4/5)
6. Last Man Standing by Cindy Gerard (4.25/5)
7. Immortal Rider by Larissa Ione (4/5)

I have different favorites for different reasons. Lethal was a favorite. Spirit Bound was a favorite too. I can’t tell you why those are rated lower than two of others. I don’t remember. November seems so long ago. The holidays fries my brain.

This month we’re giving away:

The Secret by Julie Garwood
SEAL of My Dreams Anthology
Lethal by Sandra Brown

If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. Also, be sure to tell us what book you’re interested in reading. You can put your name in for more than one book, but you’ll only be allowed to win one, so choose wisely.

So…what was your favorite read of the month? And your least favorite?

I only read two books last month– Kiss of a Demon King and Pleasure of a Dark Prince by Kresley Cole– but they were both winners! I’ve moved on to Demon From the Dark, trying to catch up on her fantastic IAD series 🙂
I would love to win The Secret by Julie Garwood!

My favorite read of the month was The Black Hawk by Joanna Bourne and my least favorite book was Love Me If You Dare.

I’d like to win Lethal by Sandra Brown.

  3. I didn’t really have any books this month that I didn’t enjoy. In fact I had such a glut of great reads that it is hard to pick a favourite. I think over all the best read was David Weber’s Mission Of Honor as it continued a Science fiction series I absolutely love.

I would love to win the SEAL Of My Dreams Anthology (if this is open to readers in Wales that is :D)

  4. My favorite read was Just One Season in London by Leigh Michaels. I didn’t have a least favorite read.
I would love to read the Seal of My Dreams Anthology.

  5. I read 19 books in November. Not counting re-reads, my favorites were the Tessa Dare novella, Once upon a Winter’s Eve, and In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks. My least favorite was Susan Mallery’s Only His.

If I win, I’d like either The Secret or Lethal. Thanks. Merry Christmas.

  6. Oh ladies… I can sympathize. I have an overwhelming TBR pile (both physical and electronic) and when it comes to picking a new book to read, I look at all my titles and go… meh. And most of these were books I haunted Amazon for and was so excited for the release. I just don’t know why I don’t want to read them now 🙁

In November I only read 6 books which is a low for me. I’d say that my fav was Hammered by Kevin Hearne and my least fav was the Next Always by Nora Roberts (it was ok, but it was a by the numbers romance. NR is hit and miss with me. She is fantastic one book and meh the next).

I’d be open to any of the books in your giveaway, but I’m partial to the Seals anthology b/c I’ve heard so many positive reviews.

Happy Holidays and here’s hoping all of us beat our reading slumps!

  7. Hello,

My favorite read of the month was Scandalous Desires by Elizabeth Hoyt. I just discovered this series and went back to read the first three books. My least favorite was probably The Next Always by Nora Roberts. I usually like her books, but I didn’t really connect with the characters this time around.

I’m interested in Sandra Brown’s book – Lethal. Thanks.

  8. I have been reading just Christmas books lately. My favorite was Lisa Kleypas’ CHRISTMAS EVE AT FRIDAY HARBOR. Least favorite (but still pretty good) was HOME IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS by Heather Graham.

Toss my name in the hat for SEAL OF MY DREAMS. Thanks!

  9. My favourite last month was Bad Boyfriend by KA Mitchell, closely followed by the Carina m/m anthology, Men Under the Mistletoe. Although, I’m reading Unraveled now and that might creep into first place the way things are going. Top listens were Ilona Andrew’s Edge series, especially Fate’s Edge.

Least fave read would be Hot Head by Damon Suede. I liked but did not love it. It’s not at all that it was a bad book, it’s more that I had an exceptional reading month I think.

I’d love to try the Sandra Brown book, Lethal.

    thx

I am going through the worst reading slump ever!! I did manage to read three books though in November which is peanuts next to the average 15 I read until a few months ago. Hoping to get back into that reading rhythm real soon.

My favourite read was Robyn Carr’s Bring Me Home for Christmas. The least favourite Seduced by the Highlander by Julianne Maclean.

Can you please put me in for Seal of My Dreams?

Hope you have a great Xmas!!
