High school junior Jenny Greenley is so good at keeping secrets that she’s the school newspaper’s anonymous advice columnist. She’s so good at it that, when hotter-than-hot Hollywood star Luke Striker comes to her small town to research a role, Jenny is the one in charge of keeping his identity under wraps. But Luke doesn’t make it easy, and soon everyone — the town, the paparazzi, and the tabloids alike — know his secret … and Jenny is caught right in the middle of all the chaos.

Meg Cabot always writes the kind of books that never fail to leave a big ol’ smile on my face. Her stories are always filled with many a laughs, characters that leap right off the pages and books that always find themselves on my keeper shelf. This book was no different. Right from the beginning, I loved Jenny Greenley. She was the go to person for pretty much everyone in her life (at school, at home, etc…) and that didn’t change when Lucas Smith came into the picture and into her life.

The Principal at Jenny’s school puts Jenny in charge of the biggest secret of all. The identity of their new student, Lucas Smith. Jenny can keep a secret, everyone knows she can because heck, she’s the uncover columnist for Ask Annie. Nobody knows that so the higher ups at school are confident that Jenny would be great at showing the new kid around and keeping his true identity under wraps. Of course Jenny does it. She does everything that anyone asks of her because that’s the kind of girl that she is and as good as that makes her, I wanted her to be a little harder on the people who took and took and took from her without giving anything back. Everyone took her for granted except for Scott.

I loved Scott. I loved Scott more than I loved Luke and that’s saying something because I always love the celebrities. Lol. But in this story, the main boy of the book was Scott. I loved how he knew Jenny, the real Jenny and the longer he stayed with Geri Lynn, the more I wanted to smack some sense into his slow on the pick up boy head. The relationship that blossomed between Jenny and Scott made for some smile spreading across my face with every page goodness and I thoroughly enjoyed it all.

Meg Cabot has a habit of writing books that I absolutely love and this book was another winner. The way that she presents everything, the way she solves everything without making me lose interest in anything speaks volumes of the kind of author she is. Meg Cabot certainly delivers another laugh inducing, great characters that I can connect with book and I was reminded of why this book is on my keeper shelf. It’s on there because it’s good.

This book has a little bit of everything to make it a winner of a book and I definitely recommend this book to fans of Meg Cabot’s writing and fans of contemporary YA romances. It’s filled to the brim with greatness so pick it up and read it if you haven’t already.

For all my Moms out there, I’d give this book a rating of:

..and that’s your scoop!

  1. I really think Meg Cabot can write about anything. I’ve yet to read a book of hers that I haven’t enjoyed, and this one is no exception. Great thoughts! Thanks!

@Annette: I agree. There hasn’t been anything by Meg Cabot that I haven’t liked. I have my favorites but all of her books are good reads.

@Alex: Same here. I feel the same way about a lot of her books. I think my most re-read series by her is the Queen of Babble series.

@Diana: Hey you! I read this a couple of years ago too for the first time and enjoyed it then. It was perfect for getting me out of a reading slump (that lasted all summer) so I thought it’d shake me out of the recent slump I fell into…and I was right for the most part. =)
