On My Wish List: December 2010.

It’s a new month of new releases and there are so many out there that I am so greedy for but can’t afford to buy so instead of buying them, they’re going on my Wish List and here is my wish list for December!

1. The Lady Most Likely by Julia Quinn, Eloisa James and Connie Brockway.

Three of the brightest stars of historical romance invite you to a party at the country home of the Honorable Marquess of Finchley

Hugh Dunne, the Earl of Briarly, needs a wife, so his sister hands him a list of delectable damsels and promises to invite them— and a few other gentlemen—to her country house for what is sure to be the event of the season.
Hugh will have time to woo whichever lady he most desires . . . Unless someone else snatches her first.
The invitation list includes:
  • The horse-mad but irresistibly handsome Earl of Briarly
  • The always outspoken Miss Katherine Peyton
  • The dashing war hero Captain Neill Oakes
  • The impossibly beautiful (and painfully shy) Miss Gwendolyn Passmore
  • The terribly eligible new Earl of Charters
  • The widowed Lady Georgina Sorrell (who has no plans to marry, ever)
And your hostess, Lady Carolyn Finchley, an irrepressible matchmaker who plans to find the lady most likely . . . to capture her brother’s untamed heart.

I think of all of the books that are coming out this month, this book is the book that I’m most looking forward to reading because Julia Quinn is a part of this writing adventure and I’m a huge fan of JQ. The blurb sounds promising as well so count me in!

2. Goodnight Tweetheart by Teresa Medeiros.

Abigail Donovan has a lot of stuff she should be doing. Namely writing her next novel. A bestselling author who is still recovering from a near Pulitzer Prize win and the heady success that follows Oprah’s stamp of approval, she is stuck at Chapter Five and losing confidence daily. But when her publicist signs her up for a Twitter account, she’s intrigued. What’s all the fuss?
Taken under the wing of one of her Twitter followers, “MarkBaynard”—a quick witted, quick-typing professor on sabbatical—Abby finds it easy to put words out into the world 140 characters at a time. And once she gets a handle on tweets, retweets, direct messages, hashtags, and trends, she starts to feel unblocked in writing and in life. After all, why should she be spending hours in her apartment staring at her TweetDeck and fretting about her stalled career when Mark is out there traveling the world and living?
Or is he?
Told almost entirely in tweets and DMs, Goodnight Tweetheart is a truly modern take on a classic tale of love and loss—a Griffin and Sabine for the Twitter generation.

This book is one that I want to read mostly because the other books that I’ve read that were told in strictly emails, tweets and what not, I have thoroughly enjoyed and I’m hoping that this one will be another winner. I have faith in Medeiros since I have read and enjoyed some of her other books. I can’t wait for this one!

3. Sin and Surrender by Julia Latham.

Raised by the secretive League of the Blade, Sir Paul Hilliard fled England to escape from their shadow.

And now his life depends on the breathtaking Bladeswoman he once trained and now desires.
Painful memories once drove Paul Hilliard away. But when the elite secret fraternity of knights calls him home to help thwart a devilish plot against the king, Paul cannot refuse. And his bodyguard in this deadly undertaking is Juliana Gresham—a stunningly beautiful warrior who honed her skills under his expert guidance.
When Juliana first received her training, she was a young, shy, and innocent orphan; now she has blossomed magnificently into womanhood, tempting the honorable knight. Surrendering to his passion could gravely endanger their mission. But Paul’s great need for her will not be silenced—especially when the plot demands that the exquisite Juliana play a shocking new role in their dangerous intrigue . . . as Paul’s mistress.

This is one of those series that I want to read but I keep forgetting about, I’m putting this book on my wish list because it sounds like a good book. That’s enough for me to want it.

4. Wedding of the Season by Laura Lee Guhrke.

Abandoned at the altar . . .

Lady Beatrix Danbury had always known she would marry William Mallory. She’d loved him forever and she’d never doubted he loved her, too. But when she made him choose between their life together or his lifelong dream, Will chose the latter . . . and left two weeks before their wedding.
Return of the duke . . .

Will has no illusions that Beatrix would welcome him back with open arms, but six years did not dim his love or desire for her. The only problem is, she’s about to marry someone else. Someone safe and predictable . . . the complete opposite of Will. But can he stop the wedding of the season and win Beatrix back, or is it just too late?

Even though I already read and adored this book, I want to own my own copy because I thought it was such a good read. I’m looking forward to more from this author and this series so it’s going on my list!

5. How to Bake a Perfect Life by Barbara O’Neal.

Professional baker Ramona Gallagher is a master of an art that has sustained her through the most turbulent times, including a baby at fifteen and an endless family feud. But now Ramona’s bakery threatens to crumble around her. Literally. She’s one water-heater disaster away from losing her grandmother’s rambling Victorian and everything she’s worked so hard to build.

When Ramona’s soldier son-in-law is wounded in Afghanistan, her daughter, Sophia, races overseas to be at his side, leaving Ramona as the only suitable guardian for Sophia’s thirteen-year-old stepdaughter, Katie. Heartbroken, Katie feels that she’s being dumped again—this time on the doorstep of a woman out of practice with mothering.
Ramona relies upon a special set of tools—patience, persistence, and the reliability of a good recipe—when rebellious Katie arrives. And as she relives her own history of difficult choices, Ramona shares her love of baking with the troubled girl. Slowly, Katie begins to find self-acceptance and a place to call home. And when a man from her past returns to offer a second chance at love, Ramona discovers that even the best recipe tastes better when you add time, care, and a few secret ingredients of your own.

This book sounds good and it’s got a bakery in it so of course I want to read it. I’m really liking the blurb of this one and though it doesn’t sound much like a romance, I’m still mighty intrigued and want to read it. So on the list it goes.

And there you have it, my December 2010 wish list. What are you looking forward to reading this month? Any books that I should be lusting after that I missed? Let me know.
