Ames’ review of Needing Harte by Marilu Mann.

Harte Donovan has a problem. A murder leads to him wanting a sexy stripper bound and naked in front of him. He can’t let his secret desires ruin his career as a detective. But when he’s given a mysterious business card, Harte discovers a side of himself he intends to fully embrace.

Ramey Nichols strips for a living and he’s not willing to pretend to be something he’s not. When this sexy submissive meets the closeted cop and unwitting Dom, something has got to give. That something might just be Ramey. Ramey knows what he wants, and more than that, finds himself Needing Harte.

The blurb is kind of misleading – it makes it sound like Harte gets off from dead people. That’s not the case.

What really happens is Detective Harte Donovan is asked to assist an ongoing investigation by questioning a few acquaintances of the victim. This leads him and his partner to a male strip club, where he meets Ramey – a man who calls out to a part of himself he never acknowledged. Harte has Dom tendencies but he knows nothing about the scene or how to go about being a Dom.

Ramey can sense the needs inside Harte and he has a feeling that Harte would be the perfect Dom for him. Ramey’s friend, Jason, the owner of the strip club, decides to help these two men out and gets Harte in touch with a Dom hotline. But Harte is not out to his coworkers and he’s worried about claiming Ramey – can he, a cop, come out of the closet with a stripper as a boyfriend?

Ok, I liked this. The writing was a tad simplistic, but I liked the feelings between Ramey and Harte. It wasn’t hard core BDSM or anything either, because Harte is a newbie. I liked the characters and this was a quick, satisfying read. 3.5 out of 5
