Tracy’s review of Tempting Alibi by Savannah Stuart.
Scott got into a fair amount of trouble as a teenager, but now he’s grown and runs a respectable auto body shop. Unfortunately, the sheriff of his town has it out for him, no matter how much he’s cleaned up his act. When he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit, no one is more surprised than he is when straitlaced Michaela Miller provides him with an alibi. An alibi that’s a complete lie. Determined to find out why his sexy next-door neighbor helped him out, he puts himself in danger of losing something he’d never considered. His heart.
Michaela has been living next to Scott for 7 months but after an initial attempt to talk to him after he moved in she’s kept her distance. She just assumed that Scott wasn’t interested in getting to know her any further.
Scott sees Michaela and he’s speechless. He doesn’t talk much any way but when he’s anywhere near Michaela his tongue gets tied in knots and he can’t seem to get an entire sentence out of his mouth.
One day when Michaela is in Scott’s auto body shop the town sheriff arrives and Michaela ends up giving Scott an alibi. When Scott brings Michaela a thank you gift it is the starting point of their relationship.
I really liked Scott and Michaela together in this story. They have a very sexual but very sweet relationship. Yes, things moved fast but it just worked.
The parts that didn’t work for me in the story was, well, everything else. The Sheriff’s involvement with a grudge against Scott from when he was growing up seemed a good way to get the h & h together, but it didn’t really end up going anywhere. And then the Sheriff’s brother and his grudge against the hero for having a better garage…IDK, it just didn’t work for me. It seemed to me that Scott and Michaela had enough issues to work through with his thoughts on not being good enough for her, etc., that I think the other parts were unnecessary, imho.
Despite the issues I had with it it was still a cute story.
