The fabulous Stephanie Tyler is here blogging with us today. Her upcoming release Lie with Me is out next week. Promises in the Dark follows in November. Today you will get a chance to get to know Stephanie and win a copy of Lie with Me!
Thanks to Casee and the wonderful ladies here at Book Binge for inviting me to guest blog!
Okay, so I’m a writer and I love my job because, hi, I get to stay home and work in pajamas and make shit up for a living and I get to help my characters live out their dreams. And sometimes it’s so much fun and other times it’s really hard, and the business end is really scary at times. It’s all a total crapshoot and for control freaks, it’s not an easy business. But I can’t not write, and so, there you have it, a career was born.
But are there other things I’d like to do, like if that proverbial genie came down to grant me a new career wish? Maybe….
I love music – it’s an obsession of mine. If you go to my website, you’ll see that I create soundtracks for each book I write – it’s usually the first thing I do before I start to write. And I listen to music while I write because it keeps me in the mood of that book.
So when I caught a rerun of Cold Case, I immediately loved the concept because I’m a big believer in backstory and past as prelude and the like. And the music they use from the time of the murder they’re investigating? Love it. They pick songs that are perfect for the scenes, the characters, the crimes. And so that’s something I would love to do – pick out the music for the Cold Case episodes. Except, of course, it’s off the air and they obviously don’t need to fill that job. So, I’m a little late.
But I’d stay with the music theme for my career wish and I’d probably choose rock star. I can’t sing or play and instrument worth a damn and am pretty sure I’d have stage fright but if the genie’s offering, that’s what I’d like to be. How much fun would that be? Because, I’m assuming the genie would give me, like, the ability to sing.
So, what about you? What would you be, if you could be anything?
We have three copies of Lie to Me to giveaway. All you have to do is answer Steph’s question! Contest ends 10/25 @11:59pm.
I would be a nurse!
I started when I was 19, but because of backpains killing, I had to stop. Still miss it. So, if I could by a new back, I would go back, running!

If only I had talent – I’d love to be an artist. My eldest son is a graphic artist and I just dream that I could do what he does. Otherwise I’d stick to what I am – a ceramic engineer.
A dancer – as a little girl my ‘secret ambition’ was to be a Rockette or a Broadway dancer. While I watch very little TV (rather be reading!) you can probably guess that Dancing with the Stars is a ‘must’ for me!
Sadly no dancing for me. Although I am quite content. Since my hobbies are reading and talking and I’m a bookseller – well, I do have the perfect job don’t I? 😀
Honestly, I don’t think I’d do anything different. I’m a geologist doing environmental work and I presently have a really interesting job with the federal government. It has taken me all over the globe and I’ve met lots of interesting people.
Hi Stephanie! I cant wait to read Lie With Me! Well since I am already trying my hand at the writing thing I guess the only other thing I would really love to be if I could would be a singer. I have always loved to sing. But I have a bit of stage fright so the two dont go well together, lol!
Have a great day!
I would be a nurse! I’d especially like to work with cancer patients (my aunt is a cancer survivor) I hope to go back to school in the next few months…better late than never.
I’m with Anne…I’d definitely be dancing!! Lucky for me, I do get to do a little dancing..I take a jazz class and perform every year in a recital!! I’m hoping one day soon to be a famous enough author to make it on Dancing with the Stars! LOL!!
I love to travel too…can I get paid to travel??? And I love planning trips to Disney World…can I make money doing that?? Not a travel agent, just a Disney trip planner…helping people pick out what attractions to do, where to eat, etc!
It’s a toss up for me between having a bakery/candy shop or designing/making high-end jewelry.
We loved Cold Case too and were sad to see it go, although admittedly, it had gotten a tad repetitive. I wanted Lil and Scotty to get together for years!
Can’t wait for Lie to Me!!
I honestly think I would like to be an author, if I could figure it out. I love to lose myself in others fantasy world, so I think making that world myself might be fun.
I’ve had this crazy idea lately about being a radio DJ. No clue why. But I keep daydreaming about it. 🙂
my dream has always been to write a novel. I am currently attempting that. But the other wild dream is a storm chaser. I would love to study up close – tornados, hurricanes, volcanos, tsunamis, etc.
When I was little and even now I’ve always been fascinated by ancient cultures and if I could do it all over again that’s the field I’d go into.
I can’t wait to get this book in my hands Stephanie!
Retired. LOL. I am a secretary and can’t wait to be able to do whatever I want when I want and not have to arrange everything around work.
Owning a bookstore would be great also, I could work a few days and hire people to run it the other days.
Pat L.
I would love to be an archaelogist and take an active part in diggings and discover ancient cultures *dreaming*
can’t wait to read your newest book!
greetings, Ina
I would be an oceanographer!!
Can wait to start this 3 book series. I really enjoyed the last 3. Thanks!
Hi Stephanie!!
I would be a nurse!
I would love to be a writer. For now I’ll just look forward to your new book!
If i Could Be anything Id be a scientist One that builds and invents new things and new ideas or a bomb tech specialist

I SO can’t wait for this book!!
As for what I’d want to be- well, I’ve got the creativity- writing, photography, singing. The one thing I wish I could be is a better artist. I can’t draw or sketch well for anything. There is a mural on our wall in the living room above the fireplace that my husband’s mom painted and I get so inspired looking at that every day and wish I could do the same!
Can’t wait for Cam!!!
I’d love to be a jockey! How cool to get paid to ride horses!!
No doubt about it, I would be a professional romance novel reader!
I can’t pick just one. I’d be involved in archeology, work in a museum, own a book store or at least a library.
Lie With Me sounds like a great story and I look forward to reading it.
I would like to own a bookstore. I love being around books. I am afraid though with the ereaders, a bookstore might be extinct one day soon.
Lie With Me really looks like a great read!!
I am what I would want to be—a retired grandmother!
I’d be a super famous author who was super rich and got to buy anything she wanted….LOL! 😉
I always had this fantasy about being a rock/popstar or a famous actor – I remember singing in front of the mirror with a hairbrush as a young girl. Now I just sing in the car!
I grew up loving the stories my grandfather told about ancient Greece and Rome, and would love to be an archaeologist.
I always loved science. A CSI would be great.
I’m going to say artist because it’s what I wanted to be and I did have some talent but my parents said I had to get a “real” job – sigh. The good news is that my daughter will be graduating from college in graphic design next year so I guess I passed on a few good genes lol.
Your book sounds exciting and I love your cover!!
Mm, in the secret part of my being (which I have not acknowledged yet) I would love to be an artist, to bring to life the images in my head of a world me and two friends created, and/or an author. My mind is always in the clouds and I have all kinds of stories and scenrios hammering away at my subconscious. To have a reason to live in my fantasy
Probably something fun like Rock Star or Movie Star! I don’t really have any singing or acting talent, but its fun to pretend.
I’m looking forward to the new series!!
So excited that you are guest blogging here this week! Looking forward to reading the rest of your posts! I would probably want to be professional musician, maybe in a rock band. That would be awesome.
I would love to be a life coach! I am currently in the medical field, but I love doing anything that involves helping others. I have always thought it would be amazing to be able to give guidance and direction to someone, while also being able to help them achieve their own personal goals and dreams.
duh…I worked all day so apparently my brain function is set on low… an e-mail address would probably be helpful. Oops! my e-mail is shannon0785@yahoo.com and I am on your facebook as well. Thanks! = )
I would love to be a museum curator. It would be an exciting and educational career.
I have zero athletic ability but I love sports, if I could I would be a world class athlete of some type. Maybe soccer or tennis star.
It would be interesting to be a professional singer.
I would be a dancer, it’s my childhood dream. I grew up in a small town where I couldn’t take any dancing lessons and now it’s too late for a career. Unless, I find that genie… 🙂
Congrats for the great review here at Book Binge and ty for the excerpt shared!
Enjoed the interview. The premise sounds intriguing. I can’t wait to be able to read it :).
Hmm I guess I’d pick a writer or a bakery shop owner.

I have always LOVE to be singer/dancer since I was kid. But unfortunately, I don’t have the talent for it. But with all the differ dancing I’ve seen from TV “So You Think You Can Dance”, it just made me want to dance 🙂
Great review, and I’m looking forward to getting this book 🙂
I use to think it would be awesome to be like some kind of special agent or assassin. Oh and being an actress would be so cool, like Angelina Jolie or someone who can gets to kick major butt–to be able to learn tons of new and awesome things and play a super cool character sounds like so much fun!
Lie with Me sounds awesome and I’d love to read it! Thanks for a chance to win!
I would be a Librarian or a Bookstore Owner (or a writer, if I could write), or an Archeologist/Paleontologist, or an Editor, a Cowboy’s Wife. 🙂
I would like to have a bookstore or do something connected to books,
maybe librarian or researcher.
Probably some kind of scientist. It would be fun to invent and discover things.
