Simply Irresistible (A Lucky Harbor Novel)Jill Shalvis, one of our favorite authors, is back again to talk about her new contemporary series, set in the small coastal town of Lucky Harbor. The first book, Simply Irresistible, is available now. I loved this book, and think you will too!

I love writing romances. And for me, it’s always about the hero. It doesn’t matter what he looks like, or what he does for a living, or even who his family and friends are— it’s about his heart.

So it’s funny to me that my new contemporary romance series centers around three sisters—three disenchanted, estranged sisters who don’t know each other and aren’t even sure that they want to. And just for fun, I had them inherit a dilapidated beach inn that they’re forced by circumstances to run together.

Together.

A difficult concept for them to say the least. The first book is Simply Irresistible (October 2010) and tells the story of the middle sister, Maddie “The Mouse,” who decides she’s done being mousey, thank you very much. She’s tired of being too accommodating and too trusting. Her transformation begins when she takes a stand with her sisters Tara and Chloe and hires a contractor to help renovate the inn.

Enter hot and handsome Jax Cullen, whose laid-back, easy-going personality matches the ways of the sleepy Washington beach town of Lucky Harbor. Only he’s not nearly as harmless as he seems, but much more like a very sexy sheep in wolf’s clothing.

Maddie fights the attraction because she senses that there’s far more to Jax, and secrets scare her. But the attraction is pretty darn hard to fight, given that he’s gorgeous with a mouth-watering bod she can’t take her eyes off of. Still, it’s far more than mere physical chemistry that draws her to him (though the sight of him in low-slung jeans and a tool belt is the highlight of her days and fuels her nights with good dreams).

Poor Maddie. She has to make the decision to follow her heart: with her sisters, with Lucky Harbor, with Jax … And it’s not easy for her. She’s been burned. She’s been hurt. She’s afraid. But she’s tired of letting life pass her by; she has made herself a promise to live it to the fullest. But standing on the edge of the proverbial cliff getting ready to take that leap of faith isn’t easy—until she realizes that she doesn’t have to make that leap alone. Her sisters are right there. Hell, Jax is right there too, ready, willing and waiting … if only she can come up with the courage to believe.

Pick up Simply Irresistible to find out more. And then read Tara’s story in The Sweetest Thing (April 2011) and follow Chloe’s journey in Head Over Heels (November 2011). Happy reading!!!

Thanks for offering the book. I love Jill’s books.

  2. My favorite so far are the baseball series. Although I have lot of catching up on reading some of Jill’s books I have in my TBR pile. Looking forward to read about the three sisters from Lucky Harbor books 🙂

  3. Love the Wilder Brothers series (especially “Instant Attraction” as I love Katie) so having a series about sisters is only fair. 😉

I still amn’t sone glomming Jill’s books though I enjoyed all the books I have read till now. My favourite i believe is The Trouble With Paradise. It was a lot of fun to read.

I love stories about siblings – male, female or mixed :).

Looking forward ot reading this series!

  5. I love series about sisters, ehhh I love series, period.
Being an only child, the sister thing is kind of a fantasy for me so I really love to read about it (let’s say siblings in general).
Anyway I can’t wait to start with this particular series.
ps : my favorite JS book is Istant Temptation because I really can’t resist a good second-chance-at-love story.

  6. It’s always a surprise to pop in here and see myself. I come to find new books to read, lol, and here I am. Thanks to the Book Bingers, I love you guys right back.

  7. I enjoy series that feature sisters, brothers, or friends. This book sounds like the beginning of another good series by Jill. Favorite book is hard…maybe Aussie Rules.

Oh! What a neat idea! Books about sisters!!! That’s a really good one! Count me in for the “win”! Mickey

  12. My favorite is Instant Gratification. I love the idea of a series of books about sisters getting to know each other and finding their certain someones. It brings to mind the movie White Christmas with the Irving Berlin song, “Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters. Never had to have a chaperone, no sir. I’m here to keep my eye on her.”

  13. I Love TJ Wilder of IT and Brody’s story – Superb & Sexy. I’d love a series about sisters. It means more books to read. Gives a chance to find out what the earlier couples are doing in the following books. I grew up in a family of 4 girls & we have a lot of great memories in spite of losing our dad and a sister at a young age.

  14. I just finished Slow Heat. I’m not a big baseball fan, but I loved that book! My favorite Shalvis book is definitely Instant Temptation, though. Those old high school flame stories get me every time. Plus, the Wilder men are hot!

It should be interesting seeing the sisters twist…very curious to see if the humor is the same or edgier when the story centers around the women.

  15. I love Jill’s writing-I have yet to encounter a book that I haven’t really enjoyed. I try to find all I can at the used book store. I am reviewing one of her older books on my blog and it is still one of the books on my “favorites” list. Just wonderful stories about really great people.

“Shadow Hawk” is my favorite. I do enjoy books featuring sisters. I like to see how they interact with each other.

My favorite is Instant Gratification…loved Katie.

Thanks for the chance on your new one.

I liked all the Instant books, but especially the 1st and the 3rd. Oh, and the baseball ones. Oh and the … and Sexy ones. Right.

And I have sisters that I wish I were closer to, so a series about sisters getting to know each other works for me.

  19. argghhh ! i haven’t read any of Jill’s books, but i do really like to read one !!

  20. I think I have to go with Slow Heat as my fav so far, although really? That is a HARD question! As for a series about sisters, I love them, just like series with brothers.

  21. I haven’t had a chance to read any of Jill’s books yet, but I love series featuring siblings. It’s always fascinating to see how differently kids in the same family turn out.

  22. My favourite book is Double Play, I just love the coach – he’s hilarious.
I’ve read several books that are centered around brothers, I’m looking forward to reading about sisters instead.

  26. My favorite JS novel is Instant Attraction, because it’s the first one I ever read.
I’m particular about stories about sisters. I tend not to like them because I’m not a fan of the sibling bickering. But this one sounds different because the sisters don’t know each other so all the “you were mom’s favorite” won’t get on my nerves. Looking forward to reading this one.
