  1. I was and still am a nerd/geek whatever you want to call. Basically I was known as being ‘super smart, nice and had a disgustingly clean rep so there was really nothing to bully me about and besides, most of the teachers liked me (not because I kissed ass, it was obvious who THOSE were!) but because I was just plain awesome lol

I.. am not sure what label I would classify myself under.. Normal, probably? My best friend was the popular one. I had a lot of friends in school, lot of close friends from different classes with interest in different activities. The librarians were also very good friends of mine. I hanged out in libraries too much that they were willing to bend, so to say, some the library rules =P school was fun. Bunking classes, participating in different competitions.

  3. Mary Beth

I don’t think I fell into any one category cleanly. I did participate in a sport, but I wasn’t a jock. I was an excellent student, but wasn’t the very top. I had plenty of friends in different grades, but I wasn’t prom queen or voted “most poplular.” Generally speaking, I was a happy middle-of-the-roader.

  4. Jolene Allcock

I think I was more the floater. I had my own specific group of friends, but I also was friends with all the other groups and hung out with everyone. Floated between the popular crowd, the jocks, was friends with the school type kids and the stoners.

  5. I was the quiet, smart girl reading romance novels whenever there was any spare time. 🙂 I’m still pretty much that same person, though a little less quiet most of the time.

  6. I was the geeky jock who was occasionally the loner! lmao!
I played sports, had acqaintences who were considered ‘the cool kids’, I ace’d most of my tests and was in the top 10 of my graduating class (until they replaced me with someone who didn’t deserve to be there.. but I digress) and I also liked to be anti social. I read my books in class, and didn’t engage too many people unless I was feeling all gun-ho, kumbaya… =D

  7. Middle school? Loner (most everyone else talked boys–I had three brothers and scads of male cousins, what was so fascinating about boys?–I read)

  8. I was one of those students involved in all the non-athletic extra-curricular activities…class officer, school newspaper, student council, debate, drama, honor society, quiz bowl, etc.

  9. I was shy in high school, but we didn’t really have a nerd label. It was a very small school. 3 of my classmates’ parents taught at the school. It was ok to be smart and do well.

If anything, though, I was the yearbook “nerd.”

    Another fabulous giveaway!

When I was in England, we didn’t have such cliques (they existed but not to the same extent).

Once here, I jumped right in…or tried to. Speaking “differently” and confusing those when I did speak didn’t really endear me to anyone. But I did find a great group of kids and socialized heavily with them. Not so much out of my group though.

Then I moved (again) my senior year of high school. Not only did I transfer to a school where 90% of the students had started in kindergarten together, I had to have major surgery which kept me out of school for several months. I was the loner then but not because I wanted to be.

  11. I’m not really sure who I was. I was not “popular” but I wasn’t unpopular. I was involved in a lot of non-athletic activities but not a “geek” of band or other variety.

Possibly a semi-naughty girl with a group of semi-naughty friends who knew what to do with a trunk full of toilet paper and how to avoid prosecution –

  12. I was definitely the nerd. I was way too extroverted to be a true loner (although I did try). Still, being a nerd in a high school in which the most popular girl went to med school wasn’t that exclusionary as the popular kids were all college-bound. They sure knew who I was even though I didn’t hang out with them (I was too busy trying to be a loner).

  13. I don’t know how I would classify myself in high school. I wasn’t a jock, nerd or loner, popular crowd.I had my group of friends and got along with most people in the school but when there was trouble I always stuck up for others.I was more of the partying type.Had a lot of friends from other schools.

  14. I was totally the geek hanging out at the library. Either that or I was trying to find a way to convince my gym teacher that turning pages in books was a form of exercise.

  15. I was pretty much a geek and a loner. I had a few good friends, and did well in school, but I certainly wasn’t popular and forget sports, I always got picked last for teams in PE.

  16. i was kind of an odd duck….i had a main group of friends from all kinds of groups – metalheads, creative-writing nerds, rednecks, and people that didn’t fit in anywhere else….but at the same time, i still had other friends in other groups, so i didn’t really fit into just one place. it must have worked, because i had a blast in high school and didn’t really get picked on at all….and i still talk to most of the people in the main group to this day….:)

  17. Chelsea B.

I was lucky to be the all of the above girl 🙂 I had firends here, had them there. School was a good time when it came to friends 🙂

  18. I wasn’t really in any crowd. I pretty much hung out with everybody. I enjoyed all groups, with friends here and there. I still keep in touch with alot of my friends from high school.

  19. I’m virtually the same person now as I was in high school. Which means that I am/was very outgoing (got along with all the groups and was named sweetest person in my senior class) with a bit of geek in me. I read tons of books back then and obviously still do.

  20. Oh wow… I would have to say that I was the…. middle person. I knew everyone and everyone knew me. I got along with everyone…. I was in sports…. and I was an above average student…. oh gosh… Wow… that was a blast….
And I have not spoken with anyone from my HS… in I cannot tell you how long…

I was the band geek and loved it. 20+ years later and I still have my band geek friends.

Great book selection for this contest! Thanks for running it.

  23. I was an honors student and a wallflower. I went to three different high schools so I never really got to know anyone in any of them. I was just marking time until I could get out of there and get to college.
