Tracy’s review of Take It Off, Warrior by Eliza Knight

Sixteenth-century Highland laird Camden MacLeod wakes up in the modern world. Confused with his surroundings, he haphazardly throws on his kilt and goes in search of whoever has played such a foul trick on him. What he finds instead is beyond tempting.

Valerie is thoroughly exploring the medieval Scottish castle she-s rented for her best friend-s bachelorette party. Not only does an oddly shaped stone in tower catch her fancy-it somehow brings her dream man to life.

Valerie is determined that she is going to throw the best bachelorette party for her friend Trish that has ever been thrown. Val recently moved to the Isle of Skye and loves it there but her friends from London haven’t visited her. She wants to make this special trip and occasion one to remember. She rents a local castle for the party and on the day of the event is interviewing male exotic dancers (read: strippers). After exploring the place in the castle called the fairy tower and having a strange experience she runs into a kilted warrior in the hall. They immediately taken with each other and fall into each others arms.

Camden MacLeod is a tad confused. He’s woken up in his bed but it’s not really his bed – it’s much softer. And there are strange things laying around his room and there’s actually glass in the windows! When he runs into Valerie in the hall he believes her to be a fairy that has taken him into her realm and he has no problem with that – as long as he gets returned to his real life as soon as possible.

Valerie and Camden soon find out that neither is who the other thought. Valerie has to deal with the fact that Camden may be going back to his time and Camden is realizing that the 21st century isn’t all bad. You see although Camden was a great warrior in his time that wasn’t who he was. He was a great clan leader but he really loved books and music and in the 16th century he couldn’t be who he wanted to be. So would staying in the 21st century be all that bad?

This was a very cute story but while it’s a contemporary romance it is complete fantasy. I mean, how often do you find a gorgeous kilted warrior wandering around and then sleep with him within a half an hour? Not often, I’m guessing. lol But despite the fact that they slept together almost immediately the author here gave us a lovely story that followed – Camden and Val getting to know each other and finding that Camden fit into Val’s life almost seamlessly. A nice quick time travel romance story.
