Barnes and Noble has definitely been hard at work trying to bring some new features to the the nook and I, for one am totally excited!
Did you guys know that some of the new features include:
- Breakthrough Read In Store experience (in beta) to browse complete eBooks in Barnes & Noble stores for free
- Connect to Wi-Fi in more places like coffee shops and hotels
- Sudoku and Chess – the first apps on the device
- A basic web browser (in beta)
- An enhanced reading experience with faster page turns and accessing previously opened eBooks
- Updated home screen with direct access to Wi-Fi settings and Audio
I really love that we’ll be able to read books on our nooks in the store. I think that’s an amazing addition to the e-reading experience. It’s a definite plus and though I don’t play games on the nook, my daughter loved to doodle on my old ebookwise while we were waiting and she didn’t have anything to do, so the feature with being able to play games is something that I know that the kids would enjoy.
I’m excited about the basic web browser as well since I’ll be able to blog hop and blog directly from my nook, who wouldn’t be excited about that?

What I love most about the commercial is….THAT’S MY BARNES AND NOBLE! I cannot tell you how many nights I’ve spent standing at that very spot that this lady is standing in this commercial. Those escalators behind her? That will lead you to the upstairs where you hang a right to go to my first stop, The YA section and then you head past the self help section all the way to the opposite wall from the YA section and there, you’ll hit romance money…I love this place!
There’s a lot of great things coming to the nook and I, for one am totally excited. I love that I’ll be able to bloghop on my nook from around town and though I don’t think I’d use the whole reading a whole book in the actual store, I still like that I have that option.
So all in all, lots of great additions makes me one happy camper.

Love the updates! I actually didn’t think I would like having games on it but it’s a good option when I want something to do but don’t want to read, and the best part is that it saves the current game so you can come back to the game later.
