Tracy’s review of Bareback Cowboy (Saddle Up and Ride #2) by Carol Lynne

Ethan Griggs is quite happy living on Justice River Ranch. He spends his days as head wrangler, tending to the horses he loves and the guests he’s learned to tolerate. When Bridger Collins arrives at the ranch, Griggs’ world is turned upside down. Despite his usual hands-off policy with the guests, he’s immediately drawn to the younger man.

Bridger thrives on the cowboy way of life. The son of one of the richest men in the country, Bridger would rather fix a fence than sit behind a desk counting his money. The sexual chemistry he seems to share with Griggs is simply icing on the cake.

With his week-long stay coming to a close, Bridger is forced to choose between the life he wants with Griggs and the life planned for him since birth.

When Bridger decides to spend the week at a working ranch in Montana he doesn’t expect to meet the man of his dreams. But the man who picks him up from the airport is one hot guy. Griggs is attracted to Bridger as well but makes some assumptions about him that turn him off of acting on his attraction to the younger man. His assumptions are wrong and once Griggs realizes this he starts to think that maybe his attraction doesn’t need to be ignored.

Bridger would like nothing more than to stay at Justice River Ranch forever but his father has different ideas about how Bridger’s life is going to be lived. Will Bridger stand up for himself or let his life be ruled by his father?

This was a short but good book. I very much enjoyed seeing Bridger and Griggs relationship blossoming. They seemed to have a bond between them that was almost instantaneous. I did think at times that Griggs tried to treat Bridger like a child I also saw it as Griggs trying to take care of the man he loved and who doesn’t want to take care of their loved ones? While I would have liked to have seen some more of the inside of the men’s relationship and what made them love each other – the story is written in such a way that it’s not a must to enjoy the story. This is book 2 in the Saddle Up and Ride series. I didn’t read book 1 – yet – but don’t feel that I needed to in order to read this one. Though in a series this is a perfectly well done stand alone.

Rating: 3.75 out of 5
