Some More Excerpt Love from Julie James and A Giveaway!

Another exclusive excerpt from the lovely Julie James. I can’t tell you guys how excited I am for the release of this book. It was such a good one. To show you guys just how awesome this book is, here’s another excerpt:

“I told you, we’re not finished with our conversation.” Jack smiled slightly. “What’s wrong? Don’t trust yourself around me?”

Cameron raised an eyebrow. Hardly. “Fine. Let’s get this over with. Where’s your car?”

“Parked on the street in front of my apartment.” He pointed behind her. “We’re taking that.”

Cameron turned and saw a motorcycle parked in front of the building. She was no expert on motorcycles—far from it—so later when Collin interrupted her at this point as she recounted the details of the evening to ask her five thousand damn questions about what kind of motorcycle Jack drove, the best she could tell him was that, no, it wasn’t a Harley, and no, it wasn’t one of those crotch-rocket sport bikes either.

It was silver and black, and it was definitely a bad-boy bike, she decided as she looked it over. But bad-boy in a refined, understated sort of way. It suited Jack well.

But still. It was a motorcycle.

“I’m not getting on that,” she told him.

“Never been on a bike before?” he guessed.

“Ah, no. Not my thing.”

“How do you know they’re not your thing if you’ve never been on one?”

“For starters, they’re dangerous.”

“Not in the right hands.” Jack walked over to the motorcycle and climbed on.

Cameron had a retort ready, but it died on her lips.

Holy shit, he looked ridiculously hot on the bike.

Jack nodded. “Come on—let’s go.”

She walked over. “How am I supposed to ride that thing in a dress?”

He didn’t so much as blink. “That slit at your thigh should do the trick.”

So.

He’d noticed the slit of her dress.

Cameron hiked up her dress and climbed on, showing a lot of leg in the process. Oops. She adjusted her jacket to cover up, wondering how much Jack had seen. From the look on his face when she glanced up, he’d seen plenty.

“Oh yeah—the dress works just fine,” he said with a warmer gleam in his eyes than she was used to seeing.

Cameron looped her purse around her wrist and settled it into her lap. She searched around the seat for her handles. “What do I hold on to?”

“Me.”

How convenient.

*sigh*

  1. Love that excerpt!! I have not yet read Julie’s work but I have The Sexiest Man Alive in my TBR pile. I guess I need to pull it out. This blurb reminded me why I picked up her work in the first place!

  2. I think the best part of any Julie James’ books is the wit. The sly humor that makes you smile and smirk because you know exactly what the character is thinking and really puts you there in the scene with them.

  3. I’m new to Julie’s work but this story has really caught my eye..I’ve read various excerpts and they’ve all been very entertaining so I’m eager to check out the book. Plus it has all the elements of an awesome romantic suspense book that will earn its place on my overflowing bookshelf.

    Happy Reading

Great excerpt!! The snappy dialogue and love/hate relationship is what makes a Julie James book so special.

  6. Keep these excerpts coming! I love Julie James books for so many reasons, one of which is the chemistry between her hero and heroine are off the chart.

At the risk of being repetitive, the wit. I like so few “funny” authors, an author who can genuinely make me laugh scores high! — willaful

I can’t wait to read Practice Makes Perfect! It was suggested to me at another author’s book signing. I love the idea of law, humor & of course romance.

  21. I just went la-la-la-la and skipped over the entire excerpt. I haven’t read previous excerpts, comments, reviews, or even back cover copy. I’ve been dying to read this book ever since I finished reading PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT on its release day. I want a pristine reading experience. Hence the “see no info” mode.

  22. She searched around the seat for her handles. “What do I hold on to?”

    “Me.”

    How convenient.

LOL. I love that bit :). Nice excerpt!! I’ve never read anything by Julie, but I’ve heard about her a lot in the last year. Guess it’s time I get on the boat :).

And am I the only one to think this cover is gorgeous? The mix of hot pink contrasts beautifully with the silky silver-gray.

  23. I’ve been hearing about Julie James and her books, and reading the excerpt made me even more interested. Something About You sounds like a great read.

I’ve never read a Julie James book, but based on the raves she’s getting, it sounds like Julie knows how to tell a great story featuring interesting characters.

Being a pre-law and soon a law student I absolutely love Julie’s books. At first I didn’t realize she was a lawyer herself, but it did indeed make sense as everything is extremely realistic in her books. You don’t usually find that. Her characters are so likable and she has a way of writing that once you start reading you can’t stop until you finish. I finished her first two books in less than two days and I can’t wait for the third!

  32. I haven’t read one of Julie James books yet. But this one sounds so good I can’t help but be interested in reading it. Plus I just love the cover. Please enter me. Thanks!

Well, I’ve enjoyed the first two books from this author – can’t imagine the third would be different! Especially with bonus of three for three in liking the cover.
