Ok – I’m an idiot and when I posted this (this morning) I forgot to change the date on the post and it posted like I wrote it last week. Duh!
Good morning!
How are you all today? I’m doing well. I went to Vegas with some friends of mine this past weekend. We left Friday morning and just got back last night. We went and saw an improv show that was just hilarious. The headliner, Rocky Laporte, was the funniest and my sides hurt afterward. We also went dancing 2 nights in a row and damn my feet still hurt! lol
We stayed at the Paris and Harlequin had a cover art exhibit called The Heart of a Woman. I made my friend Lily take pictures of the whole damned thing – lucky her! lol – and I will post them when she gets them to me. It was pretty cool.
Anyway, I hope you had a nice weekend! On to what I read this past week:
Uly’s Comet by Sharon Maria Bidwell is the first book in the Swithin Chronicles series. The book is the story of Uly who is captured by Markis, the prince of Swithin, when trying to pick his pocket. Markis has Uly bathe, eat and sleep but tells him if he leaves in the morning he can stay away forever. This goes on for a while before Markis realizes he has feelings for Uly. But Markis has great power. He’s considered the Comet and has the power of a comet – it just needs to be controlled. Though Markis has feelings for Uly he cannot act on those feelings as his council has told him he must stay celibate. Ryanac, Markis’s best friend and captain of his guard, tells Markis that he thinks that Markis’s love for Uly will help him control his power – but Markis isn’t so sure. I really enjoyed this book a lot. It was a great fantasy and the world building was pretty darned good as well. It did have some m/f moments and even after Markis marries for convenience there’s a m/m/m/f scene in there. I’m looking forward to seeing where Markis, Uly, Ryanac and Markis’s new bride, Tressa, go in the next book. 4 out of 5
The Immortal Hunter by Lynsay Sands was my Tracy’s TBR Challenge Read for the week. The story was about Decker who was chasing a rogue, Nicholas Argeneau, while Nicholas was chasing other rogue’s who had kidnapped 2 women. Decker saves one woman, Dani, but not her sister. Dani he saves turns out to be Decker’s life mate. Together they go after her sister before she’s killed. I thought the book was cute but I have to say that it kind of annoyed me at some points. Like Dani was in trouble and the rogue’s kept trying to kidnap her back – but Decker and the other rogue hunters kept leaving her by herself. Hello? Anyone home? You don’t do that! lol But I liked it other than this little issue. 3.75 out of 5
The next book I read, The Renegade Hunter by Lynsay Sands, I read for The Book Binge. I will let you know when my review posts. FYI – This was the book that I had such a problem with the ending. I still have to write the review and I still haven’t decided how exactly to do that! lol
And that’s it! Can you believe it? Me neither – there’s just not a lot of time to read when you’re in Vegas!! lol That just leaves more to read this week. 🙂
Happy Reading!
Ok, your comments about TIH and TRH just reminded me why I've been getting annoyed with the Argeneau spinoffs. 🙂
Sounds like you had a blast in Vegas! I'd love to be somewhere with sunshine right now…
Chris – but there not really considered spin-offs, are they? I guess to some extent but they still have to do with the Argeneau family.
We did have a blast! The best girls Vegas weekend evah. 🙂
It sounds like you had a great time in Vegas, what fun!
I've had Uly's Comet in my TBR for over a year but for some reason keep passing it over. Sounds good though.
I think I read the first 6 or 7 books in the Argeneau series but nothing since then. I really liked the ones I read.
Tracy – I think it's just reached beyond the point where I'm enjoying the series, the point beyond which I think it might have been better to tie things off with a nice bow. 😀
Lily – Kris recommended Uly's Comet to me a long while ago and it sat there for me too. I hate it when I do that and then read it and kick myself that I didn't read it sooner. lol
Chris – I get what you're saying. I'll have to see after I read the next book. I really need to in order to find out what happened! lol
See, I'll forget all about it by the time the next book comes out. 😀
I might – I'll just have to start reading and then say…oh wait, this is the book that blah, blah, blah! lol
Sounds like a fantastic time was had by all in Vegas!
Oh, Sharon Maria Bidwell. I've kind of (I never feel I read eBooks 'properly' on my computer) read two of her book – Snow Angel was one – and really liked them, so I will have to look this one up.
The Argeneau books I haven't read, but I'm currently not in either the paranormal romance and (now) contemporary romance mood. I think all my fantasy books need to make an appearance 🙂
Wow, you must have been very, very, extremely busy to only read 3 books!!
Glad you had fun in Vegas ;D Lucky!
