On November 4th, we’ll finally get the next installment in the In Death series. I remember when I first started reading this series. It wasn’t until 2003. I didn’t immediately love the series. Actually, the first In Death hardcover I bought was Survivor in Death. My love for this series was a gradual thing, but now it’s one of my favorite series ever. How can you not love Eve and Roarke?

Who else reads this series? What book in the series are you on? What’s your favorite In Death book?

  1. I’m a big fan of the JD Robb books. I didn’t start reading them until a year ago. Once I started I couldn’t stop. I’ve read the whole series now several times. Born in Death is one of my favorites. I’m looking forward to the new release. Thank goodness Nora Roberts is so prolific.

  2. Me, me!

I liked Naked in Death a lot because it introduces these amazing characters, so I read the next few, really liked Vengeance in Death, but I didn’t fall in love with the series until Holiday in Death.

After that, I was completely and utterly hooked, and have read every book out (okay, I bought the first 18 or so used, sue me :-P)

So yeah, I’m waiting anxiously for this one.

  3. Hi – Newbie to your blog. Just discovered it a couple days ago.

I discovered Nora Roberts last year which of course led to her j.d. robb series. I was instantly hooked.

I’ve read the series twice now and will probably read them again. I have to save the very first one is my favorite. It sets the whole mood for the series. Looking forward to reading Salvation in Death.

  4. I can’t wait for this one to come out. While I appreciate that she releases 2 a year (unlike many other authors who only release one a year..or even one every couple of years), I really wish she’d go to like, I don’t know, a one a month schedule?!?!

I’ve read all of them. Like you, I started reading them kind of late in the game. I think…2004 or 2005? I didn’t fall right into the series, but by book 3 I was totally hooked. Last year I was in a major funk and re-read the entire series – and nothing but the series – for 6 months straight. I just adore the world she’s created and…oh yeah, ROARKE! I want a Roarke of my very own. *g*

I don’t think I have one favorite, but I love it when Eve is off balance, or when she has to apologize or deal with something outside of her comfort zone. Was it Born In where Roarke’s ex showed up? And Survivor In where she had to deal with the little girl? Even in the 2nd book, when she had to go to Roarke after pushing him away. *sigh*

    I live for those.

Gah. Now you’ve got me all excited and I still have sooo long to wait. lol

  5. I’m on Book 5! LOL I know, I know…. I’m practically an In Death Virgin. And all of you are insanely jealous that I have 30 something books ahead of me! ;p

Two friends of mine gave me the first three In Death Books, signed by J.D. Robb for Christmas last year, just before I was about to buy a complete set of In Death novels on ebay. I read them and loved them. Needless to say, I hooked up with ebay later on, and now I’ve got the whole set on my TBR shelf!

    I don’t really have a favorite yet.

  6. I started the series… one book before they started coming out in hb first. I remember glomming onto the series and going to B&N and hunting the mystery section for the books. I’ve splurged and get my new hb In Death books signed by Nora from her bookstore. It arrives a tad after the release date but they are all signed.

I think my all time favorite is the very first book. It sets the scene for the rest of the series.

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for over ten years but didn’t start her In Death series til last August. I had bought the first three book on a Friday and devoured them over the weekend. Impatiently, I searched out the rest of the books and several weeks later, I got my hands on the entire series…and barely a month later, finished them all (yes, I was that addicted). Now I anxiously await for each new book and when I need my In Death quickie, I re-read any of her books again.

I would say my fave book of the series has to be Naked in Death. I must’ve read that book at least ten times…after all, it was the starting point of Eve and Roarke’s life…

  8. Robin,

Welcome! You’re right that Naked in Death sets the tone.

    Holly,

The book w/ Roarke’s ex is Innocent in Death. That’s my favorite book in the series.

I am a major In Death fan but I love the audiobooks, they are all read by Susan Erickson and she is one of the best. Really, to hear Eva and Peabody go back and forth – it’s just too good. Audible will have the new release on 11/4 and I will be downloading and listening to it that very day.

My favorite is Glory, it’s the 2nd book with the wedding plans and Eve & Roarke hit some bumps along the way, I like the way the relationship developed building up to the wedding. It’s a comfort listen for me.

  10. I’m a huge fan. I love all the books, but one of my recent favorites was the one Holly mentioned – when the ex showed up. I just love seeing the changing dynamics of Eve & Roarke’s relationship.

I can’t wait for the next one!

  11. I love this series. I started reading it years ago, and am like Holly in that I wish she would release more than two a year, however I do have to say that we ger a book in november and one in december (Pagan Stone).

I just got my little sister hooked on this series, when I went out there (I live in NM she in NV)I ttok her all my J.D. Robb books, she is now hooked.

  12. Big In Death fan here. I’ve read and reread the series so many times that I’ve lost count. I’m not even sure that I could pick a favorite at this point. I actually got to go to a Nora Roberts as J.D. Robb book signing last year for Creation in Death which was such a thrill. Maybe that’s my favorite book because I have it signed.

  13. I adore this series and I’m all caught up and have read a number of them ore than once. I pre-ordered Salvation in Death a while ago so I don’t have long to wait now!!. It’s hard to say which is my favourite, but I like the ones with conflict between Eve and Roarke because it’s so fascinating seeing them work it out.

  14. I too am a huge fan of this series. I plan on going to her signing at Turn the Page Bookstore (her store) in November and checked to see if the book will be out yet. The answer is no. Seems a little crazy to me that she is having a signing on the 1st of Nov. and a book coming out the 4th. Maybe she’ll have the books there for us to get early?

*Almost* caught up – just ready to start Creation in Death! I think Naked in Death is my favorite, because it has the great heart-twist moment when Eve thinks Roarke is done with her. But I love all the ones that are about conflicts in their relationship, especially the first four and the one with Webster.

  16. Would you believe that I’ve had Salvation in Death for almost a month and haven’t read it? It’s because I know I’ll have to wait for the next installment again, once I finish, so I’m prolonging the anticipation. Silly.

  17. web

Not silly at all! I stretch out reading… have a few Mary Baloghs I’m “saving” so that I don’t use them up too fast! 🙂
