Hero: Gabriel the Lycan
Heroine: Patsy Donahue
Grade: 3.75 out of 5
Even though all the non-vamps in Broken Heart, Oklahoma, skipped town, Patsy Donahue has kept her hair salon up and running thanks to the werewolves prowling around. They know how important good grooming is, especially a certain rogue shapeshifter who’s as sexy as he is deadly. Now, if only she could put a leash on her wild teenage son, who’s up to his neck in danger. The stress would kill Patsy, if she wasn’t already undead. But her maternal instinct is still alive and kicking. And no one had better mess with her own flesh and blood…
Ugh, I came to this party late because this is the third book in this series and though I did enjoy the book, I think I would have liked this book a lot better if I read the first two.
Oh well.
Anyway, this is Patsy’s book and Patsy is a newly turned vampire with a teenaged son named Wilson, who works at night in her Salon tending to her customer’s of the were kind. She lives in her double wide trailer and she sees ghosts. Those two ghosts cracked me the hell up in this book as did Patsy herself. I swear, this book was more funny than anything else because I laughed out loud quite a few times while reading it.
There were things about this book that I didn’t get, I kept getting confused about the whole Consortium stuff, I still don’t really know (or care) much about that stuff but I can tell you guys that this book was funny. It was funny and it was cute, the romance between Patsy and Gabriel was hilarious and hot, the other characters added flavor to an already pretty great cast and it was a fluffy, enjoyable read.
Gabriel was a good hero. You kind of wonder about him at first but he totally wins you over if you continue on with this book and I don’t see how you can’t not finish out this book because it’s pretty hilarious.
This isn’t one of those deep reads so if you’re looking for that while you’re reading this…try something else, this is totally laugh out loud funny and extra light on the serious stuff. I mean, there are some stuff that can come across as supposed to be serious but for the most part, this book was just fast, cute and fun. For me, Patsy totally made this book…I’m not sure if I’m going to read the others in the series but I did enjoy this one, so I would recommend this book for one of those quick trips to the beach, you’ll get it read by the time you leave the beach so try it out, it won’t kill ya.
But first…make sure you read the other books first, you might enjoy this one a whole lot more.
This book is available from Signet Eclipse. You can buy it here or here in e-format.
Werewolves into good grooming? This sounds totally funny.
