The BookFinder.com has an interesting report up about out of print books. I found it very interesting that in the Fiction & Literature section, five of the ten titles are romance. Here are the top 10:
1. Once A Runner: A Novel by John L. Parker, Jr.
2. Promise Me Tomorrow by Nora Roberts
3. Stormfire by Christine Monson
4. Dear and Glorious Physician by Taylor Caldwell
5. Comanche Heart by Catherine Anderson
6. The Centurions by Jean Lartegy
7. Get Lucky by Suzanne Brockmann
8. Ties that Bind by Lora Leigh
9. The Allegory of Love: A Study in Medieval Tradition by C.S. Lewis
10. Autobiography of Howard Hughes by Clifford Iriving
My most sought-after out of print books are all by Jo Goodman. I’ve scoured used bookstores b/c I’m too cheap to pay $4 in shipping online.
What’s the out of print book that you want (or wanted) the most? Where did you find it? Did you pay waaaay too much?
I found 2 OOP books by Judy Cevas aka Judith Ivory in my used book store. They were only $2 each and a great find!
I am trying to find Susan Elizabeth Philip’s first book ever written but that is impossible to locate unless I want to pay $40 or more. Sorry, not that interested in paying that much.
I’ve bought three OOP Jennifer Crusie books in the last couple of months. Paid $15 each.
I’d love to find a nice used copy of The Windflower by Tom & Sharon Curtis for under $25.
Oh, I got the old Crusie novels on half.com.
I found the Windflower hidden away in a disorganized stack of old romance novels in the used bookstore near my house for a buck fifty. That’s right – $1.50. 😉
KatieBabs- GLITTER BABY is SEP’s revised rewrite of her first book (originally 1987 Dell edition). The book is out Jan 2009 from Avon.
OMG Ciara you made my day!!!
*Snoopy Dance* The ellusive SEP book I have been wanting for years will be mine, mine I tell you!!!!
I have Glitter Baby, but I haven’t read it yet. As soon as I saw that it was going to be re-released w/ parts re-written, I decided to wait.
I’m going to start actively looking for Jo Goodman’s books, especially since I’ve went to every used bookstore in the state. LOL
The book I most wanted was The Windflower – and the AWESOME Ciara sent it to me. I am going to read it pretty soon and if she doesn’t want it back I can send it to JenB and start the Windflower across the world tour?
: )
I’m patient–which is good as I’m always half way to broke–so I usually wait until the books I want are reissued or I find them somewhere cheap.
(How can an Autobriography of Howard Hughes be written by Clifford Irving?)
The only oldies I’m still actively scrounging for are The Seduction by Laura Lee Gurhke, and Wildstar by Nicole Jordan.
I finally finished my hunt for the older Lorraine Heath’s I didn’t have – the last one being Sweet Lullaby which I found at a UBS for $6 – which I thought was a pretty good deal………
I wanted Stormfire by Christine Monson and luckily I got it from paperbackswap. I also want Bliss by Judy Cevas, but I haven’t found a copy yet. I am number 46 on the wait list at paperbackswap.
Ana – Ooh, that would be fun! Maybe we should put a note card inside it and all sign our names and where it’s been.
Ok, so I’m a nerd. 😛
Jenb that is an awesome idea! Let’s do it!
*is a nerd too*
I’m not looking for any “new” out of print books, but I would love it if they rerelease Linda Howard’s old novels again. They did release Loving Evangeline, but I would cheer if I saw Duncan’s Bride, Diamond Bay, Midnight Rainbow, etc. coming out, so I could get one that isn’t so ratty/battered looking.
I got several old Mary Balogh regency novels at the Goodwill for like a quarter apiece. That was really exciting.
I actually spent forever looking for Get Lucky by Brockmann. I found it a couple months ago at my ubs and paid $3.
