Book Watch: Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

The most anticipated story in the blockbuster Dark-Hunter series. The never-before-revealed story of the Dark-Hunter leader, Acheron. He was made human in order to escape death, but in death he was reborn a god. . .

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. However, his human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Then, brought back against his will, Acheron became the sole defender of mankind.

Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he’ll do anything to keep concealed. Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.

Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both.

War has never been more deadly… or more fun.

Alright, let’s be real now…who’s just as anxious as I am to get their grubby paws on this book and get the reading already? I know that I am. I have waited, YEARS for this book to read it and I have lost my passion for this series even though I still read the books but I have not lost my thirst and passion for this book.

I.Want.This.Book.Now.

So August 2nd, please hurry the hell up and get here!

This book is available from St. Martin’s Press. You can pre-order it here .

  1. I am totally squeeeeeeing!!!!!!

This is the first blurb I’ve read.

Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.

Artemis is always intimidated by him so there’s no way she can be his heroine. That just made my week. LOL

  2. Me too! Like..RIGHT EFFING NOW!

Well, I don’t know if I want to read the whole thing, but I do want to know who his heroine is! 🙂

    I still say I’m right….

  3. I am soooo there with you! That book is the only reason I’ve continued to read the muddy mess the series has become. It’s the only reason I read the 1st Dream Hunter book (which was one too many). And it’s the only reason I’m going to re-read Sieze the Night (I just KNOW there’s a reason they are giving it away).

But is it possible that SK (or ANY writer) could EVER write a book that does justice to the enormous anticipation for this book? EGADS, I almost feel sorry for her!

  4. omagosh SO AM I!

I decided to not preorder it on Amazon, because the last time I did this, everyone was getting the book early!

But I’m on pins and needles waiting to read my Ash’s book … here’s a question-

I haven’t continued the Dream Chaser novels after the first one (I’ll get to them sometime tho)- you think I should before this one is released???

  5. I am freak. I am the only one who hadn’t read Kenyon’s series.
    *ducks*
But, when it comes to Stephenie Meyer, I am such a fan girl it is ridiculous! I WANT BREAKING DAWN NOW!!

  6. This is a funny post. Love the title: book watch!

KB: You AREN’T a freak – I haven’t read this series either! I want to. It sounds cool.

  7. But is it possible that SK (or ANY writer) could EVER write a book that does justice to the enormous anticipation for this book? EGADS, I almost feel sorry for her!

I totally agree, Bev. This book will have to be soooo kickass to live up to what I’ve built up in my own twisted brain. Ash is everything. I hope she does him justice.

  8. MEmeMEmeMEme! I do! I really do.

And I am trying not to set my expectations too high, but it better be decent enough. Good plot, lots of tension, and hot sex. I hope Ash is true to character but at the same time is taken aback by his heroine.

  9. You know, I just remembered something (*snort* imagine that)..

Originally, SK said that Ash’s book wouldn’t happen until the end of the series. Well, we now know that’s not the case.

But when she first announced she was writing Archeron, she said his story would take place over TWO books. Does anyone know if that’s still the case? Or did his story end up being only one book? Or maybe Devil May Cry should be considered the first book?

BTW “Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence” makes me feel a little better because, after the way SK tried to turn the Queen Bitch of the Universe into a sympathetic character in Devil May Cry, I was beyond afraid that Archeron would be a wall banger when it turned out that Artemis was his heroine. In fact, I suspect there’d be books hitting walls all over Romancelandia!

  10. Bev,
I’m not sure. I remember that originally his first book was supposed to be released in Feburary and would be written in the first person from someone who was speaking to him. There was even an excerpt floating around about his sex balls:

I returned to my original question. “What is in your mouth? Let me see your tongue.”

He obligingly opened his mouth so that I could see what had been catching the light while he spoke. The entire line down the center of his tongue was pierced and studded with small gold balls. I had never seen anything like it in my life.

“What is that?” I asked, frowning.

Acheron closed his mouth and by the way he moved his lips and jaw, I could tell he was rubbing the balls against the roof of his mouth. “Erotiki sfairi.”

    “I don’t understand that term.”

“Sex balls, my lady. It makes my licks much more stimulating to those I choose to please.”

But I haven’t heard anything about a second book in…I don’t know how long. 2 years, I think? Maybe.

I am curious to see if she’s able to pull it off in one book. He has a lot of backstory that needs to be told.

  11. *blink blink*

    REALLY?!

I’m not sure if that’s tantalizing or cringe-worthy.

Of course now I’m curious whether that’s in the final book.

  12. Sorry, I meant to add earlier that his first book was supposed to be released in Feb and his second in Aug or Sept, all in 2008. Since only this book has been announced, it makes me think she’s not planning the second book after all (or the first, maybe?).

  13. Rowena

It’s pretty crazy that nobody knows for sure who his heroine is…but man I cannot wait to get my grubby little paws on this book.

And I totally agree with you Bev, I’m almost feel sorry for the amount of pressure she must be in to write this book to satisfy EVERY SINGLE PERSON, I wonder how she’ll do.

But regardless, it’s Ash’s book and I will be reading it, frickin’ FINALLY!
