It’s that time of the day again, for us to post our Best Of post for the day and today’s post was a lot harder than the others because, we’re girls and we’re all about the hero lovin’…we don’t pay too much attention to the heroe’s significant other because let’s face it.
We’re imagining ourselves in their place but there were a few heroines that stood out from the rest of the heroines and we’ve each listed our favorites. I think it’s safe to assume that here at Book Binge, you won’t find those headstrong heroines who can’t sit back and let the hero shine for a bit on our Favorite lists, in fact, those are the heroines that we call….TSTL, or To Stupid To Live and those are the heroines that would make it on our Worst Of lists should we decide to do one but since we’re looking at the good sides of heroines, here’s our list of this year’s Best Heroines of 2007 for…us.
Rowena’s picks:
1. Melanie Monroe from Virgin River by Robyn Carr.
2. Rosie Dunne from Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern.
3. Bella Swan but ONLY from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.
4. Jessica Trent from Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase.
5. Heather Wells from The Heather Wells series by Meg Cabot.
There were plenty of books on my book log that I was like, oh heck yes I remember that hero and yeah he was hot stuff, I had more than 5 heroes to add to my list of faves but for the heroines, I had a hard time remember who was who and all that but the ones that really stuck out with me are the five that I’ve listed on my list. I liked each of these women for different reasons and I think they’re a great bunch of heroines, even though the older Bella got, the stupider she got but hey, we’re all dumb sometimes so I guess I’ll forgive Bella for Eclipse since I really liked her in Twilight and most of New Moon, so yeah she made my list.
Honorable Mentions go out to: Regan Madison from Julie Garwood’s Murder List, Gina Vitagliano from Suz Brockmann’s Breaking Point and Amelia Hathaway from Lisa Kleypas’ Mine til Midnight. These were some awesome heroines as well.
Holly’s picks:
Do I have any favorites? LOL
Ok, let’s see:
1) Brie from Shadow Mountain by Robyn Carr.
2) Eve Dallas from the In Death Series by J.D. Robb.
3) Jasmina Carson from Wanna Play by Gail Faulkner.
4) Lucy Craddock-Hayes from The Serpent Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt.
5) Jessica Trent from Lord of Scoundrel’s by Loretta Chase.
This was really hard for me, because I generally love to hate heroines. Luckily, there were a few great ones that came out this year (or that I re-read this year). Hopefully I’ll have just as much luck next year. 🙂
Isabel’s Picks:
1. Jessica Trent from Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase.
2. Sadie from Broken by Megan Hart.
3. Esmeralda Fine from Nobody’s Darling by Teresa Medeiros.
4. Elle from Dirty by Megan Hart.
5. Melanie Monroe from Virgin River by Robyn Carr.
The heroines didn’t really stand out for me, I guess I was too wrapped up in the heroes.
Casee’s Picks:
1. Mel Monroe from Virgin River by Robyn Carr.
2. Emma Hathaway from If His Kiss is Wicked by Jo Goodman.
3. Scheme Tallant from Tanner’s Scheme by Lora Leigh.
4. Phoebe MacNamera from High Noon by Nora Roberts.
5. Riley Dawson from Atlantis Rising by Alyssa Day.
I have to give a few honorable mentions. First one is Brenna Kincaid in Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh. Second honorable mention is Hannah Drake in Safe Harbor by Christine Feehan. Third (and final) honorable mention is Lacey Sebastian in Darkness Reborn by Alexis Morgan. It’s so hard to pick, but all of these heroines were really worthy of mentioning.
So there you have it, dear readers, who were your favorite heroines of 2007?
Fun lists, and I’m so glad to see Jessica Trent up there so often – I just got this book and I do love a saucy heroine. And Eve Dallas! Yay.
