Best Reads of April!

Posted May 1, 2007 by Rowena in Features | 25 Comments

Rowena here and it’s been a good month of reading for me, I didn’t read anything that I absolutely hated and there were just a few DNF, but I’m not going to give up on my DNF’s, I’m just going to get back to them at a later date.

In the month of April, I read:

I’m reading, Rock Star by Roslyn Hardy Combs which is the book that I won over at Devon’s blog and I’m really digging it, I’ve read two great reviews from both Devon and Bam so I was really excited to read it and I’m totally agreeing with what they both said in their reviews, it really is fresh and witty and just everything good.

My favorite read of the month has to be Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder because I just loved being all wrapped up in Yelena’s world, seeing the world that she should have grown up in, the adventures she gets herself into with trying to do what’s right for her. It was a great second novel by Mrs. Snyder and I am anxiously awaiting the release of Fire Study, bring on more of sexy hunky Valek please!!!

Isabel

In April I read:

The Rest Falls Away
Ps I Love You
Lord of Scoundrels

These were all good books but my favorite read was Lord of Scoundrels. I heard nothing but good reviews on this book so when I finally read it, I was not disappointed. I loved Dain and Jessica and their love story. Right now I’m reading “Something Sinful” by Suzanne Enoch.

So there’s what WE read last month, what did you guys read?

and…

What was YOUR favorite read in the month of April?

  1. Funnily enough, I participated in a Book Binge last month. Yes, it was called “Book Binge”. *lol* My favourite read for the month was Laura Kinsale’s Shadowheart. I cried!

  2. I just read Rock Star, myself. It was very good. I’ll definitely be looking for more by Holcomb in the future. I liked Magic Study too, but I must admit, I enjoyed Poison Study more. However, I’m still looking forward to Fire Study. I think Snyder is a great writer.

As for Lord of Scoundrels, it’s been in my TBR for ages. I guess I’ll give it a read one of these days.

  3. Kat- My sister in law gave me that book for my birthday. That’s the book I have up next in my TBR pile. Made you cry huh. I’ll have tissue ready. 🙂

  4. She’s been to our blog before, Ween. she’s trying to trick us. That’s biblioharlot. 😛 Took me a minute.

And you’re right, Mollie, those books ROCK.

  5. I’ve read Shadowheart before. It didn’t make me cry, but the book before it, For My Lady’s Heart did. 😛

Ro-Is that keri Arthur’s dangerous games? Are you jumping around in the Riley series?

  6. Hmm…I’ve got that in my tbr pile, I’m such a lora leigh fan. What was wrong with it? LOL

And yeah, that’s the half vamp/half werewolf series I’m absolutely loving. 😛

  7. April was a pretty good month for me too. My two highest grades according to my spreadsheet were for DIRTY by Megan Hart and for SULLIVAN by Linda Devlin which was part of the Rock Creek Six series.

  8. Haha, oops I wasn’t intentionally trying to trick you…I swear 😉 (but thanks for the warm welcome anyhow!) That Holly is a quick one…won’t be pulling any fast ones on her! I couldn’t get through Dangerous Games either. I dunno, just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Ooh, all GREAT books Mollie, I loved all of those books when I read them too!!!

Lisa Kleypas is a new favorite of mine as I haven’t been a fan of hers for very long, but she is a fantastic author! And Stephenie Meyer is outstanding as well, Edward and Bella’s adventures are so addicting, don’t you think?

And before I forget…welcome to our blog! =)

  11. jeez Chantal 😀 I thought that I read a lot, but now i’m jealous ;D

Now, best books I’ve read… The War chronicles (Warprize, Warsworn and Warlord) by Elizabeth Vaughan… and Blue Willow by Deborah Smith… I liked No Humans Involved by Kelley Armstrong too 😀

  12. Wow, I was trumpeting how I read 5 books in the month of April which is high for me and then I see Chantal’s list. Holy Mary!

Rowena – you read Cabot books one after the other? I can’t do that with an author – I have to read other books in between, even when I’m crazy in love!

Isabel – LOS is classic Chase – have you read Mr. Impossible? For me, MI is just a smidge better than LOS and LOS was my fav for years.

    CindyS

  13. Rowena

Nope, it’s the Dangerous Games by Lora Leigh. I can’t get into it for some reason. I’ve taken note of the Riley series from your blog though…that’s with the half vamp/werewolf right?

  14. Rowena

Nothing was wrong with it, atleast I don’t think there was, I just wasn’t in the mood for it…I’m not giving up on it, I’m just putting it off for right now.

I totally know what you mean about the half vamps/were thing, because I can totally see myself loving it…do you know if they have the whole Vane thing going on when they’re getting jiggy? You know, how their stuff gets bigger just before he finishes??? hehe, yeah I’m a horndog, I freely admit it!

    How’s my BBB today?

  15. Rowena

Did you review those books Rosie? I’m gonna have to go and check them out as I’ve never heard of them before…more books, *squeeeee*

  16. Ro, I didn’t do a review of Sullivan as it is part of the Rock Creek Six series and I planned to do a review of the whole series when I finish it. I only have one more book to read. They are westerns.

DIRTY by Megan Hart I did review the link to my review is below. I think I put links to other reviews of the book at the bottom of mine too. I’ve also put the link to the second Megan Hart book I just read, BROKEN. Both are contemporary settings and are Harlequin Spice imprint.

    Biblio/Mollie,

LMAO LMAO LMAO, how cute you added ALL of your names to your name, haha. Hmmm, well you’re not making me want to read DG anytime soon, haha.

    Hey Chantal,

Holy crap girl that’s a shitload of books you read this month, I’m so jealous that you got to read that many books, 50 books in 6 months would be a breeze for you, huh? I LOVE SPELL OF THE HIGHLANDER! That’s such a great book!

  18. Chantal

At the start of each month I always think that there is no way I’ll be able to read more than 10 or so. I surprise myself.
I wish I had started keeping track earlier.

Since Jan 1’st I have read 89 books. Wow.

  19. Rowena

What kind of books are those Nath? Young Adult? I’ve never heard of those either…

    Cindy,

Yeah, there are some books where I’ll need a break between books to enjoy them but for the most part, I love reading books back and back in series, I get more out of the story and everything is fresh so it works for me. =)

    Rosie,

I’m going to check those reviews out right now, thanks for the links sweets! And I look forward to reading your review on the entire series then…thanks! =)
