Rowena’s review of Wild (The Ivy Chronicles #3) by Sophie Jordan.

A good girl goes fabulously bad in the final book in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s sexy New Adult romance series, in which three Ivy League suite-mates seek higher knowledge of just how far they can go.

Months after her boyfriend dumped her, Georgia can still hear the insults he hurled at her. Boring. Predictable. Tame. Tired of feeling bad, she’s ready to change her image, and go a little wild. What better way to prove her ex wrong than a hot night of sexual adventure at the secret campus kink club?

In the shadowy den of the kink club, she unexpectedly runs into Logan Mulvaney, her friend’s little brother. A player extraordinaire too hot for his own good, he may be younger, but the guy is light years ahead when it comes to sexual experience. Now he’s telling her to go home—“good girls” don’t belong here!

Georgia is tired of having others define her. She’s going to teach Logan a lesson he won’t forget—one white hot, mind-wrecking kiss . . . that leads to another . . . and another . . . and. . . . Realizing she’s way in over her head, Georgia runs.

Only Logan won’t let her go. Everywhere she goes he’s there, making her want every inch of him. Making her forget who she is. Who he is. And just how wrong they are for each other.

This is the final book in the Ivy Chronicles trilogy and it was also my least favorite of the bunch. That makes me sad because I have been looking forward to Logan’s book. I LOVE Logan and I still absolutely adored him in this book but holy crap did Georgia drive me crazy.

I’m going to jump into my thoughts on the book since the blurb for this book explains everything you need to know about the story.

I’m not going to lie, there were times when I thought I was going to put this book down for good because I wanted to punch Georgia in the throat. Every time she got caught with Logan, I wanted to smack the hell out of her. Every time she denied her feelings at Logan’s expense, I wanted to karate chop her in the kneecaps. Logan had some serious feelings for this girl and I hate that it took her so freaking long to come into her own. By the time she finally did, I wasn’t relieved. I rolled my eyes down the street because I was like, “FINALLY!” It took Harrison coming back into her life and her parents trying to force them together again for her to freaking take a stand? Ugh.

My main thing was that Georgia lied to everyone about how she felt about Logan, including herself. Lie to everyone until you come to terms with your feelings but quit lying to yourself. Respect yourself enough to be honest with yourself. I hated that she let her Mom run her life. I get that they were paying for your education and your life but dude, speak up for yourself. I thought it took her far too long to get to the point where she was comfortable enough in her own skin to speak up.

But Logan? Loved him. He kept me invested in the outcome of this story. I wanted more for him than the little scraps of love that Georgia would give him. My heart broke for him every time Georgia denied what they were doing to their group of friends. She made him look like a beast in front of his family (well, his brother and brother’s girlfriend) because she was too strong to be honest with THEM. It’s one thing to hide things from your family but your friends? Hello, that’s why you have friends. If you can’t be honest with them, who can you be honest with? Ugh.

I’m glad that things worked out the way that they did, for Logan. I wanted him to get his happy ending and even though I was beginning to think I wanted it to be with someone else, I’m glad that Georgia finally wised up. So this is a tricky one to grade because my heart is completely Logan’s. I loved him enough to give this book a 3 because damn, he was freaking fantastic.

Review: Tease by Sophie Jordan

Rowena’s review of Tease (Ivy Chronicles #2) by Sophie Jordan.

What happens when a girl who always calls the shots meets a guy who’s too wild for even her?

A born flirt and good-time party girl, Emerson has never had a problem finding a willing guy. She’s always chosen her hookups carefully, and she’s never broken her three cardinal rules:

Never let them see the real you.
Never fall in love.
Always leave them begging for more.

Then Shaw comes along. A hottie from the wrong side of the tracks, he’s immune to her flirtatious banter and come-hither smile. After rescuing her from a disastrous night at a biker bar, he doesn’t even try to take her to bed—he calls her a tease and sends her home instead. Unable to resist a challenge, or forget the sexy, dark-eyed, bad-boy biker, she vows to bring him to his knees.

But instead of making Shaw beg, Emerson finds herself craving him. For the first time in her life, she’s throwing out her rule book. Suddenly, she’s the one panting for a guy she can’t control—a guy who won’t settle for anything less than the real Emerson and who forces her to do things she’s never imagined, including facing a past she thought she’d buried.

A guy who just might leave her wanting more. . .

This is the second book in the Ivy Chronicles series by Sophie Jordan. It’s a New Adult novel and one that I really enjoyed.  It was sweet and it was sexy and it was good, all wrapped up in one solid read.

Shaw and Emerson’s story isn’t an easy one but it was very satisfying. Emerson is a hard character to relate to because she’s full of contradictions. She’s portrayed as the party girl in Foreplay (the first book in the series) and yet, when you dig into her past and her story, you realize there are emotional depths where Emerson is concerned. She’s a complex character that was at times annoying and at other times so full of awesome that I came away from this book glad that I read it.

Shaw was perfect for Emerson is every way. She needed someone to have her back for once and he was the perfect person to have in her corner. Living with memories of her past and having the mother that she did wasn’t an easy life to get away from but I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when Emerson finally started letting Shaw in, all the way.

I loved the way that these two bickered their way toward their happily for now. The way that they were in tuned with the other was fantastic to read about and seeing the love that they came to have for each other blossom right before my eyes satisfied me more than I thought possible.

For me, I think I enjoyed this book more than Foreplay and something is telling me that as great as this book was for me, I think I’m going to love Wild even more. I’m super stoked about Georgia and Logan. I’ve been hoping that we’d see more of Logan since the first book in this series (even though he’s so young) but he’s had time to mature over the course of the last two books and I can’t wait to see what Jordan has in store for us with Wild.

This was a good, solid read. I think readers will find themselves connecting with both Shaw and Emerson and I think readers will like the story that Sophie Jordan has weaved for us with Tease. It was a fun way to spend a few hours over the weekend and I’m so glad that I read this book.

Cover Reveal: Wild by Sophie Jordan

I am a fan of this series.

I read and enjoyed Foreplay with Reese and Pepper, I read and enjoyed Hunter’s little short story in the Fifty First Times anthology and I just finished reading Tease with Shaw and Emerson this past week.  I really enjoyed it.  I’m super excited about Logan and Georgia’s story.

I’m also super excited that Logan is Georgia’s love interest. I was never a fan of Harris but I’ve always loved me some Logan.  There’s something about the way that he carries himself with that carefree attitude and he just oozes sex appeal.  Their story is going to be a good one, I just know it (and because Jennifer L. Armentrout said so).  I’m excited to share the cover with you lovely readers.

Check out Georgia. Isn’t she gorgeous? And Logan? Swoon!

Review: Foreplay by Sophie Jordan

Posted November 7, 2013 by Rowena in Reviews | 1 Comment

Foreplay
Rowena’s review of Foreplay (The Ivy Chronicles #1) by Sophie Jordan.

Before she goes after the life she’s always wanted, she’s about to find the one she needs.

Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…

In the past couple of months, I’ve read a lot of New Adult novels. Some, I’ve absolutely loved and some I just liked okay. Each time I pick up a book, I expect one thing and I get another but with this book, I got exactly what I thought I’d get and I was happy.

Pepper has been in love with her best friend’s brother Hunter for as long as she can remember. But he’s only ever seen her as a friend of the family. Never as anything more but when he finally breaks up with his longtime girlfriend, Pepper finally sees a chance to go over what she’s always wanted. But because she’s always liked Hunter, her sexual history is non-existent. In an effort to turn herself into the tigress in bed that she feels will hook Hunter, she goes on the hunt for someone to teach her the art of…seducing the pants off of college guys.

And that leads her to the sexy bartender, Reece. Reece is the perfect teacher, at least he seems like he’d be since he’s got quite the reputation. But when she meets him, things heat up quickly. She’s drawn to him because he’s a lot different than she thought he’d be and he’s drawn to her.

The more time she spends with Reece, the more she forgets the end game…and Hunter. Then Hunter starts showing interest in Pepper, in the exact same way that she’s always craved and Pepper can’t help but be drawn to him too. But when she’s with Hunter, she’s thinking of Reece. Which, duh.

This story was a great introduction into Sophie Jordan’s New Adult line of books. It was easy to follow, the characters were likable and relatable and the story was interesting. I liked getting to know both Pepper (though I wasn’t a fan of her name, I kept picturing her as a rapper) and Reece. Reece was a freaking swoonbucket and I adored getting to know him. I loved that he didn’t let Pepper play with his feelings and I loved that he owned his feelings from the very beginning. He was a genuine good guy and I was glad that he got his happy ending.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I am really looking forward to reading the next book. Sophie Jordan has definitely hooked me onto this new series. I’m definitely in.
