Filled with romance, passion, and lust, Love Between Men offers irresistible erotic fun while celebrating the coming together of souls as well as bodies. Two traveling husbears meet a willing twink in Jeff Mann's "One Afternoon in the Bible Belt." A sneaky environmentalist gets sandwiched between hedonistic mountain men in Bob Vickery's "Loggers." Two partners share a leisurely Sunday morning with scintillating surprises in Hank Edward's "Breakfast in Bed." Rob Rosen's "Skyrockets in Flight" is particularly delicious, with naughty bits in every line. Perfect bedtime reading for gay couples, Love Between Men is an inspiring and enticing testament to same-sex love.

Love Between Men is an anthology of 17 stories of erotic get togethers either between strangers of men who have been in a relationship for years.

The overall tone of the stories was a happy one which was nice. I must say I didn’t enjoy quite as many in this anthology as I have in the past.

A few that I really enjoyed were:

Tokens by Pepper Espinoza – Jake and Ian met and got together. Ian, at first, limited himself from enjoying Jake’s company to just twice a month. Time in between meets gets shorter and shorter as they just can’t seem to stay away from each other. In this story it’s obvious that Jake wants more from Ian than just sex but Ian is being stubborn. We really know nothing about the characters except what we see in the hotel room but it worked. In the end there was the hope of something more and that made the story worth reading.

Tom’s Feet by Gregory L. Norris – This was an interesting story of a couple who have been together for 10 years and one of the men isn’t happy. The story doesn’t really go into depth about the instances that brought him to this unhappiness but he’s had a hard time making the move to leave because of various reasons. One of those is – you guessed it – Tom’s feet. A mild foot fetish this is not. The guy gets incredibly excited by stinky, smelly, sweaty feet. NOT my cuppa, let me tell you, but it worked for this story. I won’t give anything away but to say I was pleased with the ending.

Line of Sight by Nathan Burgoine was one of my favorites. Cam is a psychic and ends up saving Johnny from death. Johnny befriends Cam but as it’s all about Johnny he ends up wanting to use Cam to find out if there’s anything between his boyfriend Bill and Bill’s roommate, Tate. Cam meets the two men when Johnny invites him over for a bbq but that doesn’t end well. Johnny breaks with Bill but that leaves him open to giving Tate a wonderful birthday present – Cam. A very sweet story that was, like all the stories in the book, incredibly hot. I liked the psychic element in the story as it just added a little something extra.

In the end if you’re wanting some hot and sweaty man love on a pleasant afternoon this would be the book for you.

Review: Best Gay Romance 2014 edited by Timothy J. Lambert and R. D. Cochrane

Posted February 27, 2014 by Tracy in Reviews | 5 Comments

Tales of love and lust in contemporary gay culture, Best Gay Romance 2014 is a Valentine to readers and a wonderful reminder of how love can begin — at the grocery store, the gym, the library, or even on the world wide web. Real romances with relatable characters, each of the stories in this collection represents a facet of the oh-so-human heart

I really enjoy anthologies.  I know that a lot of people don’t but I think they give me a taste of an author that I may not have read otherwise.  Sometimes this is a good thing, and sometimes not.  🙂
This anthology is a little different than most, I think, in that the stories are extremely short and therefore don’t give us the same kind of satisfaction that we may get, even from a novella.  I felt in some of the stories that I liked that I just wanted to know more about the characters so that I could get a better grasp of where they were when the story was taking place. Others I didn’t feel were romance stories at all, while still others I was pretty happy I didn’t know more cuz I kind of wanted them over.  Then there were the few that I so enjoyed that left me with a sigh and a smile on my face.  Those are the ones I want to give you a little tidbit of…
Strange Propositions by Eric Gober: The first story that was in the book told of us a guy who wanted nothing more to be who he was and to have his boyfriend come out and enjoy the chance to be together in public in Hollywood.  Unfortunately that didn’t happen but luckily he met someone who would enjoy it. While I was sad for the guy who felt he needed to stay in the closet I was so happy with the way the story played out that I didn’t let it get me down.
Dandelions by Tony Calvert: A man in his mid-thirties moves home to help his mother after his father dies.  He’s never met the man of his dreams as he dreams of a love like his parents had.  His mother basically sets him up with the man who runs the local nursery and the two hit it off. The story was sweet and fun; it made me smile and laugh and it got a big “awww” moment at the end.  Great job for such a short story.
Save the Last Dance for Me by David Puterbaugh: A couple on a transatlantic cruise.  One man is a fabulous dancer and all the ladies can’t wait to dance with him, but not his partner.  He doesn’t want to make waves but in the end learns that making waves makes his partner happy – in their own gentle way.  So good.
There were others that I enjoyed as well and put a smile on my face but those were the top 3.  I think if you just want a book that you can pick up and just read a couple of stories before bed this one is perfect for you.

Review: The Hardest Thing: A Dan Stagg Mystery by James Lear + a Giveaway

Posted September 20, 2013 by Tracy in Reviews | 6 Comments

Once a major in the U.S. Army, Dan Stagg fell afoul of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. In his late 30s, tall, and muscular, Dan is prone to violence, always upholding what he views as justice. He’s offered a great deal of money to protect the young male secretary of a powerful real estate broker. The vain, shallow—but most of all hot—young man’s idea of protection includes sex. Dan quickly realizes something strange is going on: he’s being used as a shield for a much more sinister operation and must chose between easy money and sex or the ideals that he embodied in the Army. Why should he do the right thing—particularly when the army betrayed him?

Dan Stagg is working as a doorman/bouncer at a club when he runs into a bit of trouble and he gets fired. He is then approached by a man who wants him to be a bodyguard for a “secretary” that needs to get gone for a while. Dan is given $10,000 and the promise of $20,000 more when the job is completed. For a man who has nothing and has no prospects this looks like the job from heaven.

Dan meets Stirling MacMahon – the secretary – who is so obviously not a secretary. He’s adorable and Dan can’t keep his hands off the young man. They travel, screwing their way north, but soon run into trouble and Dan, being the smart guy he is, soon figures out that he’s been played. The people who hired him didn’t want him to succeed and when a hit comes down on his and Stirling (who says his real name is Jody) and then Jody is taken he has to use all of his smarts – and his ass – to fix it all.

The Hardest Thing – which is gay erotic fiction – is a pretty great book. I hadn’t read anything by Lear before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but the blurb was intriguing enough to make me want to read it.

I found Dan Stagg to be a pretty complex guy when I sat down and thought of him after finishing this book. On the one hand he was sensitive when it came to relationships. I believed he truly wanted love and a home with the man of his dreams, he fantasized about it enough, but he just hadn’t found that special one yet. Despite all of the arrows pointing AWAY from Jody, because let’s face it he wasn’t really relationship material, Dan finds himself thinking of a future with the man. I gotta give him props for seeing underneath Jody’s surface and seeing a man worth having under all the bleach and self-tanners because frankly I didn’t think Jody was a good match for him AT ALL. Of course then there was Dan’s sex drive which was the size of….the universe. lol He was not afraid to hit anything wearing pants that was willing and ready – despite his feelings about Jody. He was a horny bastard and despite being with Jody umpteen times a day he was still up for some rednecks at a roadside gas station. His promiscuity was his way of dealing with the let downs that life had thrown him (again, as well as being incredibly horny) and it made me ache for something more for him. IDK, there was something about him that I found to be very charismatic and because of this I was completely involved in the story. The way this character was written just captured my attention and his sensitivity mixed with his abrasiveness created a duality that I liked reading about.

The story having to do with Jody, why he was traveling, his boss, his bosses minions and what all the background was interesting. There wasn’t truly a mystery here – at least IMHO – but it was well written enough to keep my attention. I’ll be reading more about Dan Stagg in the future. You all know I’m normally a die-hard romance reader. While this wasn’t a romance there were enough relationship intimations to keep this romance girl happy.

Review: Steam Bath: Sweaty Gay Erotica edited by Shane Allison + a Giveaway!

Posted September 11, 2013 by Tracy in Reviews | 5 Comments

Steamy encounters in the bathhouse have been the stuff of erotic legend for centuries, just ask Spartacus! Shane Allison turns the stereotype on its ear in Steam Bath, a rollicking romp of pretty boys and dashing daddies doing it. From fresh faced twinks to silver foxes and beautiful bears, Shane delivers sensational stories where every man is naked ALL THE TIME! A towel-snapping good read, Steam Bath is filled with sizzling porn bodies, sexy boys next door, and tantalizing tricks that fully capture the erotic dynamic of between men. Rob Rosen turns up the heat once again in his new tale, “The Key.” A young detective sets out to investigate the disappearance of a young twink, but finds more than what he ever thought imaginable in Logan Zachary’s “Incubus Steam.” A tattooed bad boy gets taught a “hard” lesson in Eric Del Carlo’s “Steam Punk.” A mind is not the only thing that gets blown in Rafaelito V. Sy’s “Raf’s Journey.” Things get hot and heavy when a college professor and one of his horny students stumble upon a European steam bath in Jarrett Neal’s “The Chaperones.”

I have to admit that the thought of a bathhouse is certainly fascinating to me and frankly more than a bit titillating. The thought of the freedom that gay men find in these stories was enough to hook my interest and make me turn each page.

A couple that stood out to me were:

Incubus Steams by Logan Zachary – the story of a cop investigating missing men and finding himself thoroughly patted down instead. This had a very strange ending that I’m still kind of confused about but it’s definitely stuck in my head.

The Gay Dude by Gregory L. Norris was longer than the rest (except for one other) and was pretty funny, hot and sexy. This was about three friends not understanding one friend being gay and trying to figure out where the new boyfriend fit in in their band of musketeers. While a very cute story the overuse of the word “dude” just about did me in. :0)

The Real End of It by Shaun Levin was an interesting blend of sex and reality. A man who was madly in love with Martin in previous years but they parted ways. Now many years later they hook up again at a bathhouse but the man looks at Martin with different, changed, older eyes and frankly wonders why he was ever enamored and how he can now feel nothing for the man. The story was told in first person and I found it an interesting view.

The stories encompassed in Steam Bath are definitely filled with all ages, shapes and sizes of men. All of the stories were certainly fun, sexy and most assuredly sweaty. I really enjoyed some of the stories while others were a bit on the sex overload for my liking – which I should have expected in an erotic anthology but maybe I just needed to take a break. lol I liked them all but as in all anthologies I liked some more than others. If you’re looking for some sweaty gay erotica then this is definitely the book for you.

Guest Review: Smokin’ Hot Firemen: Erotic Romance Stories for Women edited by Delilah Devlin

Posted August 17, 2013 by Tracy in Reviews | 0 Comments

16129226Tracy’s review of Smokin’ Hot Firemen: Erotic Romance Stories for Women by Delilah Devlin (Editor),Jo Davis (Foreword), , , , , Rachel Firasek, , , , , , , , , ,

Who can melt any woman’s heart with a single smile? The sexiest icon of all- a fireman!

They enter fiery structures with selfless courage—the very definition of the word “hero.” Women understand their allure… A soot-covered face, sweat dripping from hard, chiseled muscles, the sharp snap of suspenders — yes, only a fireman can make suspenders sexy! Delilah Devlin’s burning-hot book includes thrilling stories teeming with gorgeous firemen from some of today’s hottest romance writers. In “Saving Charlotte,” Sabrina York’s firefighting Dom rescues a woman tied to a red-hot bed; from Cathryn Fox comes “Temperature Rising” where a fire chief fulfills some very steamy fantasies; Elle James’s “Chasing Fire” sees a daring smoke-jumper parachuting into the hot zone of a forest fire then setting his girlfriend ablaze with erotic heat; and Magic Mike ain’t got nothin’ on Delilah’s own fireman-turned-exotic-dancer-for-a-night “Johnny Blaze.”

Smokin’ Hot Firemen imagines the romantic possibilities of being held against that massively muscled chest by a man whose mission is to protect and serve.

I don’t know any woman who hasn’t had at least one fantasy about a hot fireman. Seriously, how can you not? I’m a happily married woman but when I see muscled firefighters I can’t keep my eyes to myself (I can look at the menu, but I eat at home. ;)) So when I saw this anthology I snapped it up.

The stories are exactly what you would think but so much more. Some stories showed us married couples, some couples were already dating when the stories took place, and some were stories of firefighters saving the women from a variety of circumstances – each one handled in a different way. All of the stories are pretty short but they each packed a punch. There were only a couple that I really didn’t care for and with all those stories, that’s a pretty good percentage of “likes.” 🙂

A few that stood out to me:

Hook Me Up by Adele Dubois was a cute story of a woman in her nightie who climbed a tree to get her cat down (yep, the old cat in the tree story) but then got her leg caught between two branches and was hanging upside down. A passing fire truck, on its way home from a call sees her and saves the day. The couple doesn’t see each other right away due to fire station regulations but eventually get together and it’s hot.

Chasing Fire by Elle James. The story of a Chance, a fire jumper who is sleeping with Maggie who does not want to be in a relationship with or in love with a fire jumper because she doesn’t ever want to be told that the man she loves is dead. Chance wants marriage and kids but she refuses to even consider it. When Chance is called on duty to a fire that rages for over a day Maggie understands that she can’t live without Chance no matter what he does for a living. Chasing Fire, for me, was more emotion driven than the rest of the stories (although Her Hero by Catherine Paulssen was a close second) and I like that. Don’t get me wrong – it was just as hot and sexy as the other ones just different.

Stoke by Tahira Iqbal was about a nurse who was on her way to work when her car starts smoking and eventually catches fire. She is injured but saved by a man who wants to care for her both in the hospital and much longer after that.

This is a book that you can read all at the same time or just read a couple of stories in between your other books if you need a break. As I said, most of the stories were very good, very sexy, very hot and all involve hot firemen – how can you go wrong?
